My husband and myself have just returned home after a week at this hotel. We have stayed there several times before and thought it was up to a 4* hotel. This time sadly not...in fact no where near it. The reception staff are not that brilliant with their english and it... more

This hotel, Las Palmeras is rated 4*, but only worthy a 3* at best. Room ok, big bathroom. Swimming pool on 5th floor and opens at 10am, not many sunbeds. Food: breakfast...cereals, fruit, hard rolls and english fryup. Diner, salads, fish and meats, lacks variety, and not... more

I previously stayed at this hotel many years ago and chose it for its central location. The hotel is very big and it is well placed for being right in the centre of Fuengirola only a few minutes’ walk to the beach one way and the town shops the other. Taxi's cost between... more

For a 4 star hotel, the look was right. But the service was far from 4*. I'd been visiting attractions in Southern Spain with a party, and Las Palmeras was our hotel, so no doubt we were tired when we got back to the Hotel after a night of partying. The Bar was good... more

Went here last summer and what can I say I would never go back! The hotel is located just opposite all the clubs and me being 18 you would think this to be a good thing but the area is rough and you cannot walk 10m without the staff pestering you with their flyers! The... more

The hotel was ideally situated facing the beach and harbour and was two minutes walk to the old town with its shops and bars, great for someone who likes shopping and would be bored with just a beach hotel. My teenage daughter particularly liked this. The resort was a nice... more

food spoiled a good stay
stayed a week in las palmeras hotel hotel staff very helpful. after asking a resident couple about what were the best rooms they advised us to ask for a room with even numbers on door as rooms with odd numbers were above london bar and very noisy, boy were they right asked for room high floor even numbers, got one. rooms nice big balconys all sea views room service every day COMPLAINTS "cold food" every meal we did half board ate supper at 20 00hrs hardly any meat with cold gravy even chips were cold asked if they could supply microwave to heat up supper told food comes out of kitchen hot so::
Not quite 4 Star
I can't really fault the overall standard of the hotel. My room was spacious, clean etc. Unfortunately it was directly opposite the famous? London Bar and even in January the area was very noisy until 6am. I hate to think what it must be like in the high season. That apart there were one or two things that let it down. Firstly there was only one channel available on the television and that of course was in Spanish. Secondly the breakfasts were very average overall and any hotel in Spain might be expected to supply proper fruit juice instead of some watered down concentrate in the morning. I cannot comment on any of the other meals provided. The swimming pool was closed for 2 weeks maintenance but that was no big deal at this time of year. No real complaints but not really ticking all the boxes.
A Hell Hole!
We stayed 1 night at this dreadful Hotel. Do not stay at Las Palmeras if you wish to sleep at all between the hours 11pm and 7am. The excessive noise outside the Hotel is unbelievable making sleeping or listening to the TV a complete impossibility. When the very loud music finally stops at 6.30 am they then empty the bottles into bins at regular intervals. The management were totally disinterested and said we were the only guests to complain yet the nights disruption was the only topic of conversation in the lifts and Dining Room. If you are british and want to Party all night with accomodation within 100 metres of your watering then this hell hole is the place for you. We shall be staying at another Hotel!
Few Complaints Here
I have just returned from a week in this hotel and I found it extremely clean with the household staff doing a good job every day . The food was plentiful but sometimes the dishes on offer narrowed the appeal of same . Watch out when taking a shower as the bath has no slipmats and you could fall . The location facing the marina and a 3 minute walk from the Bus Station and a further minute to the Train Station makes ideal for trips to nearby towns . The bus trip to Mijas at €1 was great value .
Love Las Palmeras
I do not understand negative reviews of this hotel or of the staff. My late husband and I have stayed at Las Palmeras for 16 years on and off we always found it to be an ideal centre for our holiday. I suppose it depends on what expectations are, but the food is plentiful and varied. Christmas and New Year are wonderful times there. The staff have become great friends and they treat everyone with respect, unfortunately this cannot be said of the guests, who do sometimes treat them as if they were something scraped from the bottom of their shoes. The refurbished rooms are huge, clean and quiet, the doorways large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, and the linen and towels are changed everyday.
PITCH A TENT ON THE BEACH INSTEAD!
We stayed here in July my son of 12 and I,(I am not a prude I am a fun loving 42year old) we were originally given a room that had not been refurbished, although very clean it was just like the inside of a Y.M.C.A. dormitory drab and extremely old the 4* rating for this hotel must have been given during the 1960's when this room was probably very nice, and before the vast amount of night clubs and pubs opposite arrived. Our balcony overlooked "Beirut city!" and although there was absolutly no activities what so ever for children ( oh sorry 1 game around the pool pass the water bomb from one person to another by knee, and water polo once a day, but later when it finished there were no balls allowed in the pool!!!!!) our only entertainment was watching the fighting and police arrests at between 12am and 6 am each night from our balcony, accompanied by very loud music. If you do happen to book this hotel make sure you request a refurbished room, they were excellent, although because so many of the rooms had been sold off to the public for homes there is nothing to say your neighbour wouldn't be a fun loving pigeon fancier that insisted on feeding the birds from her balcony and so putting your towel out to dry is a NO NO!!! FOOD ALSO UNEDIBLE SAME MEAT/FISH EVERYDAY DIFFERENT SAUCE!!! ALSO RECEPTION STAFF THE MOST UNHELPFUL PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET! THERE IS NOTHING MORE I CAN SAY APPART FROM IF YOU HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO GO AND YOU REALLY WANT THE SUN, THEN PITCH A TENT ON THE BEACH!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.....YOU WILL BE THE NEXT REVIEWER!
Not Four Star
Just spent a week at a hotel masquarading as a Four Star, but when we complained to Cosmos, we were told it is only a Two Star. Like most Brits we were palmed off with a sub standard room, we also had the marvellous view of the Car Park full of wrecked cars, and even worse we had Pidgeons nesting on the next balcony, with constant cooing and poo everywhere. But after complaing we were given an upgrade to a newly refurbished room which was excellent. We found most of the staff very helpful and polite, in fact we made a couple of good friends from the staff, there were one or two members of staff who were a little surly, but when given the same treatment they soon came round. The food was very acceptable, especially the evening meals, with plenty of choice from dishes of main courses, and some delicous desserts. A word of warning about the Costa del Sol ladies, bag snatching is very rife in that area at the moment, my wife is still nursing a swollen knee and very hurt pride, after being pushed to the ground and robbed, at 8.15 in the morning right outside the Las Palmeras Hotel, in front of their Security Guard, who did little but give a half hearted chase after he saw me pursuing the little thief. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED LADIES ! The location is excellent, but a little noisy if you happen to be given a room on the side of the Hotel facing the London Bar and 5 nightclubs, which stay open till 6 in the morning.
Great Location but 2 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star.
We have just returned from 10 nights in Las Palmeras Hotel and were disaapointed to say the least. The hotel is in a great central location and we enjoyed Fuengirola but would not return to this hotel. We were on the second floor which was in the process of being refurbished and this is much needed. The rooms are very basic, ours had white washed walls with a dark green border. The furniture is drab and badly scratched and the balcony overlooked the carpark which was full of wrecked cars. We found some of the staff were surly, giving the impression they did not want to be there and we only found one pleasant member of the bar staff. The nightly entertainment programme was more suited to children apart from the flamenco night and even that was not up to the standard we have previously found in Spain. We booked bed and breakfast and if the dinner menu was to the same standard we missed nothing. We had a holiday in Fuengirola 2 years ago which we enjoyed so much but choose to change hotel this time as the first one was pretty far from the centre but we wish we had stayed there again despite the distance. Overall it was a good holiday spoiled by a poor hotel. I realise modernisation is in progress but until this is completed and the staff are given a session in customer care the hotel should be downgraded to 2 star
Not a four star hotel
July 2005 - Tennis court & Bowling alley closed for repair. One table tennis table which was always booked and that was it, so NOT a hotel to take teenagers. Swimming pool very small in need of repair with a small area for sunbathing all on the fifth floor, so children were not allowed to play with a ball in the pool or use any inflatables. We were asked to stop playing cards in the hotel bar that was empty apart from us four ! Rooms were in need of an upgrade and after 3 days we asked to move to the refurbished rooms that were better and overall the hotel was clean. The meals were very limited and of a very poor quality and the same food was offered every day. Breakfast, we didn't even have juice, we could have squash ! Even though we were half board we ended up eating out every meal. The staff were not at all helpful, very moody and on occasions quite rude. The hotel is rated 4 star but we were told by several British guests that it was rated a 2 star in the U.K. We would also rate it a 2 star and would not visit there again or recommend it to anyone else. NOT a hotel to go to with children or teenagers. NOT a hotel to go to with meals included.
we'll be back
We stayed in this hotel , as part of the Hooley in the Sun trip from Ireland, with an Irish entertainment package . The location close to the marina is excellent . the food was ok , the rooms were nice , and the service good . The entertainment on the package with Declan Nerney and his band and a number of well known Irish Acts was excellent . BJ Burke's Bar nearby was also a big hit , with late night revellers. Hope to go back this year
