I went to the hotel a couple of years ago and did not enjoy it. The food was the same every night, thanks god we only went for one week and not two. It was always some sort of meat in 3 different sauces. Our room was carpeted with some old bright green carpet and not tiled, not very hygienic.
The last day had finally arrived and we put our luggage in a LOCKED room while we waited for our coach to arrive. We went for something to eat then returned to collect our luggage. 300 Euros had been stolen out of our case, we went straight to the reception and all they did was give us a map to the nearest police station, the service was dreadful. Will not be attending that hotel EVER again.

Aug 2008, Mr T Gould

The hotel is superbly located for the beach and the marina. It is only a short walk from the station which cot only 3.80 Euros for two of us each way from Malaga airport. Train takes about 30 mins and is air conditioned . The hotel pool was great always room and no queuing or having to reserve. Food was ok breakfast typical of hotel 3 * with reasonable choice. Evening meal was of good standard lots of choice fish and meat and salads and we both ate well. There are so many great bars and restaurants that we always had new places to try. O'Briens bar was great for draught Guinness at 4 euros pint but there was also the Toon bar where san miguel draught was only 1.5 euros a pint even if the bar itself was small and a bit basic there is sky Tv on great for footy. We found a deightful English tea room called Temptations in las Ramplas facing Dunnes the carrot cake apple pie deep and gorgeous and sandwiches and pots of tea were to die for and served by nice English people too .Went there every afternoon about 2.30 Closes for 2 hours at 3.30pm .
It was a bit noisy upto the early hours but we got a room high up in the taller tower facing the pool and it was livable you get used to it and any way who wants to go to bed that erly on hols. Hotel entertainment wasn't that good but most people dont really want it as they are out and about. Lots of spanish stay here so that speaks for itself they know value for money.Lifts too were ok and not as we had read of course there are busier times than other we found 9.30- 11 the most busy period.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and we got into our room at 1.30 not 3pm as stated and you dont have to be out until 12 noon which can help.Air conditioning very good but goes off 2am - 7am for some reason. Would go there again as it was value for money and we had a pleasant holiday. Don't miss the tues market it is great with lots of bargains but very big to get around takes quite a few hours

Overall we had great holiday. Hotel wasn’t the best but clean bed every day and new bathroom was enough compare to the price. Staff helpful and very friendly.
I regret that hotel didn’t provide local or continental food I was expected. Self catering I'd recommend for future holidays maker. If you want to try local food I'd recommend all restaurant a bit far from seaside, especially those where Spanish are eating. That means you will be eat good and also cheaper.
Be ready for no English speakers-dictionary necessary-but friendly. Location of the hotel is perfect, near everything: shops, supermarket, beach, marina, etc.
There's no car park provided so if you going to rent a car you have to pay for car space in town. Crazy drivers, aircon necessary!!!! Be careful on the road!

We stayed at the El Puerto hotel in...

Oct 2007, Mr B Denholm

We stayed at the El Puerto hotel in Fuengirola from 25 September till 2 October. There was three of us two adults and one child age 2 & 1/2.
The location is great, right in the resort centre across the road from the beach and fair and play park close by for children. The hotel doesn't look much from outside but better inside, the reception is great, bright, and clean and reception staff were a great help.
The hotel staff are friendly and made an effort especially with my child. This was a budget holiday and it only cost us a total of £583 including flights, insurance, 7 nights half board, and a week’s car hire. The hotel is 3 star, the rooms are small, but clean come with a/c and TV. safe is also available. If you go here ask for a room with sea view absolutely fantastic!
The bar was great 2-4-1 between 6 & 7 works out about £1-12 a pint ! The meals are nice but there isn't loads of variety no plain pasta or rice to go with meal normally potatoes or chips.
There’s not much to eat for the children, but there are an abundance of restaurants surrounding the hotel and McDonalds opposite.
The swimming pool is good right on the roof 10 floors up great views and good for sunbathing.
The weather was brilliant hot and sunny all week. The hotel has flexible dinning so you can have breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner it’s your choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, this hotel is for a low budget so don't expect the Ritz.
Go here if you want a cheap accommodation, with no frills, but be prepared to dine out if you are choosey about what you eat. Also car parking on the front so if you hire a car expect to pay for parking or find a space in the back streets 10 min walk away.

Apr 2007, Ms S Leonarda

Found this hotel to be so-so. It's basic and functional. Rooms are similar standard to a Travel lodge in the UK.
It is a good central location and a 2 minute walk to the bus and train station and town centre. Right on the beach. It is clean and the food in the restaurant is good with a good choice at each meal.
I would probably only do b&b in Fuengirola as the place is overrun with restaurants. Found the staff were friendly.
Bathroom was small but clean with new towels every day and a hairdryer. Room was cleaned every day. Great view across the harbour from the balcony.
I would say that I found the hotel very noisy - due to its location and seemingly thin walls. After two weeks here I moved to another hotel for some peace!
I also didn't like that there was smoking allowed in the rooms and I could often smell the smoke coming through the ventilation system from next door.
Some guests I spoke to had been to the hotel year after year but I personally would only stay here again for a short stay (2 or 3 nights) purely due to the noise.

Mar 2007, Mrs L Matthew

Just came back on Wednesday after a long weekend, there were 12 of us on a 50th birthday.
We all agreed that this hotel was perfect in all aspects.
Rooms were very clean, beds made everyday, clean towels everyday.
We all enjoyed the breakfast’s great choice, fruit cereal fry up croissants rolls tea coffee and toast plenty of choice.
The hotel was ideal for the beach bars and restaurants. We all agreed that happy hour was great and the waiter was very friendly and made us very welcome.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I recently came back from visiting...

Jun 2006, Miss E Gomez

I recently came back from visiting Fuengirola and would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone. I went with an Elderly relative and I myself have a disability, but found the hotel to be a great location as its surroundings are all flat and there aren't any hills to climb unlike neighbouring Benalmadena. We stayed half board and found the New Chef to be ideal and he is a trained 5* chef and this 3* obviously benefited.
We met up with other Brits who unlike us had booked 4* and were unhappy with their foods being cooked at their hotels, but this wasn't the case with us. Breakfast is very good and a nice selection of fresh fruits also as well as your typical egg/bacon and tomato fry ups. Dinner time was also good as they had a variety and if you needed something specific the hotel chef was more than willing to cook it for you. The staff were friendly and the maid service was very good. I admit the stairs to the pool are a little steep but if you take your time there is a hand rail to assist those less able (but well worth a venture as the views from the roof are tremendous).
It’s also the perfect location to base yourself to get to other destinations. I myself went to Gibraltar twice and would definitely recommend that excursion to anyone. All in all the hotel I admit is a little run down, the rooms are of adequate size after all you don’t go there to spend time in your room. The beds are comfortable as I have a problem with my spine and found the beds to be just right.
You are with in walking distance from the main train service and central to all Bars/Cafes etc. Its ideal for people who want to lay about doing absolutely nothing all day and there’s stuff for the more adventurous to do.
All in all this hotel offers excursions and evening entertainment. The only thing I had to say bad about it, is the reception didn't tell you where these activities were or indicate how things operate around the place. But hey I guess its all part of the game (find out for yourself - I say it’s more fun).

We’ve just spent 11 nights in the El Puerto in Fuengirola. The rooms are a bit small, especially the bathroom, but very clean. Towels changed daily and bed linen twice a week.
Breakfast is very good but the evening meals are not so good. Pork chops are invariably tough and there is very little variety of choice. The bread rolls are soft inside but the outside is like concrete. Soup very good, different every night but 7.50 euros for the house wine is extortionate.
Staff pleasant enough. Taxi from hotel to airport is 26 euros, book it the night before from the rank 100 meters up the road. Pool on the roof with very few loungers but the hotel is only across the road from the beach. Lots of good restaurants and bars in the area. I would use this hotel again.

Feb 2006, Mr C Masters

As always, fantastic service from this hotel. Located right on the beach front, giving easy access to all the shops/bars. Although in the centre, the noise from the local bars is kept to a minimum. Rooms were well presented and recently upgraded. Whilst staying the lifts in the main block were being upgraded (but didn’t cause inconvenience at all).
Very suitable for disabled people unless they want to visit the roof top pool. Variety of food provided each breakfast and dinner time but can get very busy in the morning.
Maid service provided was very good with bathroom cleaned and beds made each day.
Altogether an enjoyable stay (about 5th time at this hotel) and would stay again.

Aug 2005, Mr P Howarth

Hotel has at one time been very nice but is quite run down. There has been a bar at the pool area which is now boarded up, very disappointing as only a soft drinks machine was available. The food was okay but not a big choice and the same every day, also tended to be luke warm and not hot.
The towels and sheets were clean and the maid service was good but the lifts were sometimes hard to get as the maids used them when cleaning the rooms.
Don’t think I would use this hotel again.
