good choice
had a good time, hotels small but staff very friendly. Could do with some entertainment during the day and the evening. Also it colud do with having a fridge in the rooms as it would be nice to have a cold drink in the evening. Breakfast ok not a lot of choice. As for gumbet itself boring.one good thing was that you diid not have trouble gettinga sun bed.
cozy hotel
We wanted to take a final weeks holiday to end the summer in sun and ended up at the La Rosa in Gumbet, Turkey with Holidays 4 U at a price of £264 pp for half board including transfers. We travelled with Onur Air from Gatwick and was given an in flight meal and drinks. The weather was 30degrees every day and practically had the hotel to ourselves as it was near the end of season. The pool area is set in a lovely courtyard together with bar area. The rooms were basic with a shower en suite but was clean with linen changed once during the week. We paid £3 per day for air conditioning and hired a safe deposit box. Our evening meal consisted of 4 courses and although simple, it gave us a taste of Turkish quisine which we may not have otherwise tasted. The breakfast was very simple, bread, cheese, boiled eggs so we usually went to one of the many resturants offerring an english fry up for a pound (3 lira). The hotel is on the top of quite a steep hill away from the bustle of Gumbet resort which took about a 15 minute walk each evening but took a cab back home for 5 lira. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, as are all the turkish people we encountered, who constantly try to get you into their bar, resturant, shop etc and this became a bit tiresome but in the end you get used to it. The few other guests that we did encounter were regulars who returned year after year. We would recommend using La Rosa and would consider returning in the future.
Lovely la Rosa
My friend and I just came back from a weeks holiday in La Rosa Hotel. We picked it out of the brochure because it said it was small and in a residential area. When we arrived in the dark the area didnt look very impressive but the following morning in the day light it looked much better. We cant fault the hotel in anyway. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms spotless and their is a very lovely garden and pool area to the rear. Our holiday was really wonderful. It is a 15 minute walk to Gumbet from the hotel and 2 minutes to the dolmus stop on the main road. We will definitely go back there again.
Great Hotel
This Hotel was allocated on arrival when we arrived in Bodrum. The hotel itself is great, however, I would not reccommend it to people with walking difficulties, (as I have), as it is situated on a hill with at least a 20 minute walk to Gumbet and the beach. Taxi's are quite expensive and so our week turned out to be quite dear. The hotel was lovely and clean and with a great swimming pool. The food was good and the Turkish night was not to be missed! It would be a lot easier if the local bus stopped outside the hotel.
my opinion
hotel la rosa, we stayed in one of the villas it had 3 larged sized bedrooms the villa was very spacious and the kitchen was kitted with every thing we needed the patio area was absolutley nice with apricot trees and grape vines all round and all shaded which was nice when it was sooo hot! in the day by the pool. the staff was very nice and the cleaners were very very nice they stripped the beds every other day aswell as changing the towels. They swept the floors and mopped the floors every day. very clean the villa was but as for being such a nice hotel the centre of gumbet where the beach was a good 15 minutes away and it is quite hilly coming back. the supermarket and the sunday market was only 2 minutes away. The only down side was the prices of drinks at the poolside bar. but apart from this we all really enjoyed our stay.
My Opinion
The Hotel is really nice, the pool is great and the staff are friendly. The downfalls to this hotel the room we stayed in was extremely small the cleaner didn't do much cleaning plus we didn't get a pool view or balcony as it was advertised in the brochure. The bar was overpriced and I didn't like the idea of paying your bar bill the next day. Also if your looking for a hotel close to the beach and main resort I wouldn't recommend here it's a good 15 mins walk and the Hotel is near the top of a Hill.
A Place to Chill
We left the Hotel La Rosa less than 24 hours ago. I had booked up last minute going allocated on arrival, and was very pleasantly surprised when we first entered this hotel. The La Rosa itself is a lovely, small hotel. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with plenty of free sun loungers/bean bags for all the guests. There are also several gazebos and other seating areas spread around so if you want to you can get out of the sun. As it is a small hotel, there wasn't too much noise during the day, so it was very relaxing. I had two teenage daughters with me and they thought it was brilliant, and didn't get bored once over the two weeks. Every member of staff was very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Entertainment is in the form of karaoke every nite until midnight, but the bar stays open as long as you want it to, friday nights they lay on a Turkish night, with a troupe of artistes perfoming and a barbecue, for the cost of £10. Rooms are a decent size, and very clean, sheets and towels were changed 5 times during our stay, and rooms cleaned every day. Although not in the centre of Gumbet, it is only a 15 minute stroll down the hill to the centre of the nightlife. Built fairly close to a residential area, which is a bonus, as there are numerous nice Turkish resturaunts close at hand, that tend to be cheaper than those in the main area. Also only a 2 minute walk to the local market held every sunday. Pay the extra for the air con. It enables you to shut the doors at night and keep out the noise of the bar!!
Fantastic Holiday
I have just returned from a two week break at Hotel La Rosa. I had a fantastic time, the hotel staff were brilliant very attentive to all your requirements from the manager down to the the cleaners. The hotel was spotless and the pool area was well maintained. I cannot stress how much I enjoyed my stay. Well done La Rosa Keep up the work and I hope to return very soon!!
Hotel great, Gumbet a dump
Hotel La Rosa was a very friendly hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The only downside was the size of the rooms, you certainly couldn't swing a cat in them however they were clean and comfortable. The location was terrible, in the middle of a very run down residential area. However it was preferable to staying in Gumbet itself, which is a decaying dump in need of some serious investment from tourist money. I am a grandmother of 3 in my mid forties and was travelling with my husband and even I wasn't safe from the unwanted attenition from the local men. Unfortuantely it was my first and last trip to Turkey - never again!!
'kiss,kiss' this hotel
We stayed at the La Rosa in June for a week and can i just say what a pleasant suprise we had. The hotel isnt in the centre of Gumbet but ideally situated if u wish to go into the busy part of Gumbet on a nightime. The pool area is clean and has plenty of sun loungers. The pool is small but adequate for a cooling swim on a hot turkish afternoon. The rooms are basic but very clean and even have satellite television, although for british visitors the only channel in english is BBC World (news channel). Bar staff are very friendly and will make your nights as fun and lively as possible and will have you doing the 'cha-cha slide' and singing along to the turkish version of 'kiss, kiss' for the duration of your stay. In summing up i would say that if u want a hotel close enough to Gumbet/Bodrum that is clean and friendly then this is the hotel for you!!!
