we have just returned from a two week stay at la rosa hotel. when we arrived staff meet us at the front enterance and helped us with our cases. we were shown directly to our rooms. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful.
The same staff member that helped us with our luggage also seemed to work in the bar and restaurant. In fact this guy Brian could not do enough for the guest.
rooms were basic but clean. we had a garden view very well kept gardens.
breakfast was basic. There was a set menu in the restaurant each nite at a good price for four courses. after eating in both gumbet and bodrum we found the food in the hotel excellent value for money. they have a good range of evening meals if you choice to order on the al a carte menu.
beer at the bar works out cheaper than most bars in town. watch the prices as it can range from 4 to 8 lira in town.
air con was expensive so we did not bother. really think they should just include air con in the price as its a must. in england we do not charge for heating so why do foreign countries think its ok to charge extra for ac??????
all staff worked very long hours but nothing was ever too much trouble.
the resort is on a hill. walking down is fine but you will need a taxi to come back. but the bus to bodrum will stop outside the resort and will drop you back to the hotel.... bus 3.
bodrum is lovely gumbet is a litlle chavy.

I stayed at La rosa hotel for a week with my partner. We were very impressed with the hotel overall. We arrived in early hours of morning and were given a room promptly.
Room: The rooms are basic with bed, bedside tables & lamps, dressing table, television, telephone and shower with good pressure. A maid comes everyday who is very friendly and more than happy to visit your room at a later time if initially it is not convenient. We paid for air conditioning which cost £3 per day but was well worth it.
Hotel/Services: The waiters and bar staff very friendly and happy to help. Drinks were reasonable in comparison with other bars/restaurants in gumbet but about same price as drinks in Britain. There is a shop down the road (about 2mins walk) which sells drinks cheaper which we stocked up on water to drink whilst we were in our hotel room or to take if we were going away on day trips. Breakfast was ok but more of a continental breakfast, we just had the delicious bread with jam or egg! We ate in the hotel for out evening meal once and had the set meal - was one of the nicest meals we had in gumbet - very impressed.
Location: The hotel is about a 10-15 min walk away from main part of gumbet which was fine to walk down to in evening when weather was cooler but a long trek up hill on way back so i would recommend a taxi. Some lovely restaurants in gumbet - i would strongly reccomend China Town and the Windmill (both will provide transport down to their restaurant if you ring prior to visit) If you want to catch a bus to bitez beach which is lovely you turn left out of hotel up onto dual carriageway on other side which cost about 2lira or to bodrum you stay on closest side and again costs about 2lira. Bodrum has a market on tuesday (clothes) and fridays (herb & fruit & veg).
Overall very impressed with hotel and gumbet itself although i did expect drinks to be slightly cheaper than they were in gumbet town, however food was very reasonably priced.

La Rosa is a lovely hotel for both couples and families. It is beautiful and stylish hotel that is very clean and looked after well. All the staff are great and do their best to make your stay comfortable. Reception was good, the four members of staff who acted as waiters, bar staff, enetertainers, bell boys etc. were fantastic. One even told me the best place to go and have turkish shave, well worth it! The food was great, and as we were half board this was great. We had a four course meal every night, and the soups were fantastic. Don't expect much for breakfast as it is more continental than Full English! But trust me you wouldn't go hungary. The drinks are reasonably priced and you are put on a bill for you to pay the next day, check your bill but apart from one time it was right...they soon put the problem right which was fine. The outside area and pool area is brilliant, just big enough for everybody, maybe could do with a few more sun loungers but overall great with loads of big cushions, so if you don't get a lounger you can lye of big cushions. The pool is very clean and very refreshing in the heat!
The only couple of things I could find wrong is that the hotel is a long way from the beach and other things, but only a 15 minute walk so isn't too bad. A taxi from town is about 6 lira (2 pound or so) back to the hotel but remember to ask the taxi driver to put the meter on otherwise he will rip you off. The buses are very reliable as well getting you to bodrum very easily and care free. The other thing is that on two nights at about four in the morning it was quite loud around the hotel, this was due to new arrivals in the hotel.
We were looking for a relaxing holiday with the chance to go out and explore. At the La Rosa we could do that easily. I would go back to this hotel.

I have just returned from the Hotel La Rosa.It is a lovely hotel and the staff are very helpful and friendly.Although the waiters can get a bit too much especially when your tired and they like to mess around, but not all of them!!!!The hotel was clean and the pool area was spotless. It is a quiet small hotel which is lovely but the location of the hotel was a bit too far away from gumbet for me,if the hotel was situated closer to gumbet it would have been perfect.I went to bed early one night and did not hear any noise but my room was inside the hotel, but maybe the rooms which are closer to the bar would here the music.I arrived back at the hotel a number of times at gone 5 am and the receptionist would tell us to be quiet,so thats a good thing. There is free internet available at the hotel.Air con is available at a small charge of £3 per night which is well worth it.The hotel food is delicious,my friend and I would share the set menu and order another main dish, the set menu is 15 lira which is £5-6 and well worth it money. The bruschettas at the hotel are fab, best I have ever tasted.Def jump on the bus to Bitez (pronounced beat-ez) as it is far cleaner than gumbet beach.Would recommend this hotel but maybe not for gangs of youngsters.

ok. just got back home after 2 weeks of hell at la rossa. the noisiest (till 4am) hotel i have ever stayed in. loud music from the bar only matched by the loud younger drunk guests.
this hotel is classed as a family hotel, thats a joke. our kids and we hardly got a night's sleep with the 'racket'. do yourselves a favour. dont go here, pick another hotel.
i am glad to be home so i can have a rest from my holiday. thomas cook, you will be hearing from me.

Hotel La Rosa ... Ok ... here goes ... on arrival at the hotel (grumpy after a 10 hour delay) we were pleasantly surprised, the whole appearance of the hotel was very very nice and we found the reception staff equally friendly and helpful, it was only 7.00 am in the morning, however we were shown to our room immediately and without any hassle.
The room, well this was slightly disappointing, it was clean enough and rather small, but hey you’re only sleeping, showering and getting ready there so no biggie!
The location of the hotel we found quite handy, it’s a bit out of the way, probably 10 minutes or so walk to Gumbet’s infamous Bar Street, however the hotel is situated just of the main Gumbet to Bodrum motorway, granted you have to climb a rather steep hill to get to the motorway, but it’s very convenient, as the dolmuses pass every other minute and give you a “wee toot” to see if you want them to stop, its 2 Lira into Bodrum Central (Bus Station).
Also just a 5 minute walk down the motorway (on the pavement of course) is a Shopping Mall ... a proper Shopping Mall ... its called The Oasis Shopping Mall ... here you will find proper shops, with genuine products ... and everything has a price tag ... so no haggling! As a shop-alcoholic, I found the Oasis very good, it had a range of designer boutiques and also middle of the range priced shops too ... we went the last 2 weeks in September and as the end of season was fast approaching, most of the shops had there sales on, I got quite a few bargains.
The grounds surrounding the La Rosa are quite stunning, day and night. To the front there are lovely landscaped gardens and around the pool area there are water fountains and wishing wells, it’s really well thought out, there are also giant bean bags as well as the traditional sun loungers ... the bean bags are so comfy!
The bar area is just as nice, it has a very traditional yet modern feel about it. Although I will say the pricing is exceptionally high! 10 Lira for a Bacardi & Coke ... so depending on the rate that’s almost £5 for a single shot of Bacardi and a dash of coke!
And beware, the bar area has no till, everything you order is added to your tab, you can pay your tab daily, but check that the items on your tab actually belong to you. Once on our tab we had someone else’s dinner added to our bill, it was quickly resolved though.
The cleaner came everyday, and everyday she gave my husband a new Turkish word to learn ... Morababa ... hello – I think! She was very nice. 2 mornings I wasn’t feeling well and said not to bother cleaning our room as I was still in bed, when she saw us later that day she came and asked if I was ok ... she was really friendly.
A draw back of the La Rosa is the Mosque, which is located right next to La Rosa ... it was nearing the end of Ramadan and at approx 6 every morning (Sunrise) the men are called to prayer ... they are called several times during the day also, which wasn’t a problem, but the early morning call got a bit of a pain ... bring earplugs ... I did, it didn’t bother me, I slept right through it, but my husband was woken most days.
The Hotel offers a set menu every evening ... this cost 18 Lira, and includes Bruschetta, Soup, a main meal ... maybe chicken cordon bleu or a beef casserole etc, a Turkish Dessert and either a Turkish Tea or an Apple Tea ... go for the Apple Tea ... trust me! We ate at the hotel 3 nights out of 14, the food was very nice, and the wine – Aspendos (35 liras a bottle) was also very nice. (although you could buy this in a supermarket for 9 Lira)
We ate at the pool most days, (the chip butties are ace – its like a half a loaf of bread stuffed with a load of chips) but just down the road from the La Rosa (on the opposite side) is a lovely little bakers, which sells mini pizza and cheese pasties etc, plus lots of little cakes and at a fraction of the price the hotel charges. Although you’re not allowed to bring food or drink into the hotel, this is strictly prohibited. Just eat your goodies on the way back up to the hotel ... that what we did! Although we brought bottles of water in, not in full view, but not totally hidden either and nothing was said ...
Moving on to Gumbet itself! Oh dear ... there is only so many times you can say No Thank You without losing your temper ... it’s a nightmare, so much for the Turkish Government cracking down on this! That just wasn’t the case at all. And if you say no thank you and you are clear annoyed by there constant pressure to get you in their shop / bar / restaurant, they turn rather nasty.
Our saving grace was a lovely restaurant called Annalivia ... its not a restaurant you would normally walk past as its around a corner a little bit, but we were recommended this by a couple we met at the La Rosa. In the main Bar Street in Gumbet, you will find the Windmill Bar/Restaurant and directly opposite (180 degrees) you will find the Annalivia, its next to Murphy’s Irish Bar. They also run a free taxi service from your hotel to the restaurant. The food is amazing, the best we found by far, in both Gumbet & Bodrum, I would definitely recommend the Annalivia.
Bodrum is a nicer resort than Gumbet ... the shopping is better and so are the bars ... there is a lovely cantina place, recommended by The Rough Guide ... I'm not sure what its called, but its the kinda of place you happen to stumble across ... its up an alley on the opposite side of the road from a clothing shop called Ambar, just about 2 or 3 minutes walk down from the bus station ...
Overall, we had a good holiday, the weather was great, the hotel was great, the food, well, we’ve had better. Would we go back? Probably not, Turkey is not “Cheap as Chips” anymore, £4.50 for a half pint of Cider, sorry ... that’s outrageous in comparison to what we pay here - £1.30 approx ... I just wouldn’t pay it, Turkey is very expensive now and everyone we met said the same, there is no need for them to be charging these prices, and they’ll just end up ruining it for themselves.

I stayed in that hotel this summer with my granny. It was a beautiful hotel. my first impressions was very good. and around the pool area was gorgeous at night time.
The only thing that bothered me was that it was too out of the way and too quiet for my liking, it was great for my granny but im 15. so obviously there is going to be different opinions.
We found that the hotel bar was quite expensive also the staff are very friendly when you arrive but if you dont stay at there bar in the evenings or even by the pool during the day they tend to be very rude to you and make comments the following day if you go to buy something. My granny and i joked " yeah theres the bar that no one goes to" which was true.
Although i must say i got on with most of the staff very friendly.
On a much better note. the rooms were spotless & the main road was right beside the hotel. This was very handy because you could just jump on a bus and head into bodrum or else go the opposite way to bitez. The beach there is far nicer than gumbets.
Also if you go to bitez beach i recommend the lemon tree resturant. Very helpful and friendly people and also very good food.
I liked this hotel regardless of the problems.
Me and my granny intend on going back to the hotel again this halloween.

Just had a really nice week at this attractive hotel and found it to be quite lovely all round. The swimming pool is warm and clean and of a night time you can lay down on comfy cushions, under a palm tree looking up at the stars and forget the world! Sometimes the music was a bit loud around the pool area and I think if you didn't enjoy R&B this could be a bit of a nightmare for you! The staff were friendly and polite and the guy on reception will give you any information you ask for. You can also change your ££££s to lire 24 hours a day at reception. My biggest piece of advice for you is NOT to book your trips via the rep!! We were told that we should book them immediately at our welcome meeting or all the places would be gone. The trips are 3 times the price of the plentiful agencies in the town and i can't believe that the agencies transfers can be any worse than those we experienced! Our Turkish bath experience was fantastic..... the transportation had a cracked windscreen and broken seats and no seatbelts! Our boat trip was fantastic......the transportation arrived 30minutes late. Dalyan was fantastic......had to be ready for 6.10am for this one, mini bus arrived at 7. We were then transported to a meeting point to join the big coaches, it was mayhem! I must say though once we were on the big coach our rep was full of local information and did a fantastic job of organising us all for the remainder of the day! All of these trips are available in the town and i would highly recommend taking a few!
I had read mixed reviews about the town Gumbet. I found it full of atmosphere and neon lights, but i liked it! The only thing i didn't enjoy was the locals pressurising you to go into their shop, bar, etc. As i was with my daughter we were usually back at the hotel by 12 having a drink at the poolside bar, consequently if there were lots of drunken brits causing mayhem we didn't witness this! The foam parties are there if thats what you're after but i'm assuming this all kicks off much later! Good idea to look for the deals if you plan on drinking, the same cocktail would cost £2.50 in one bar and £5 in another! I paid on average £3.50 for a glass of red wine.
If I could change one thing about the hotel it would be the position.... I'd have to pop it a bit closer to the beach! it was beyond the town and took about 20 minutes to reach. This was fine for a full day but a bit of a trek otherwise. However taxis are plentiful and there is even a bell at the hotel to call for one, costing about £2.50. We enjoyed our strolls down but didn't attempt the climb back in the heat!
Overall the holiday was great, you can relax and chill if you want too or party your pants off!
Go for it! Enjoy!

We had a week or I should say a fantastic week at Hotel la Rosa. May not be livley enough for the younger one's, we found it ok for our age group 45 plus. The Hotel was very clean, our room was adequate with a small seating area outside. the pool, bar, dining area and food good menu, the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Gubet itself was a little walk away 10 mins down a rather a long hill was a bit of a climb at the end of the day and in the heat but you could get the local bus or taxi to help you if you need it for only a few pence. We found Gumbet very fiendly lots of entertainment for all age groups.Nice beach. We would recommend it and we would definately go agian.
