Holiday Inn Paris Bastille Hotel

Stayed here for a few nights late November and for the price (97.50 Euro) cannot fault it. The only grumble I had was the shower which was either very hot or very cold, (the trick I found on the last morning was to turn both the hot and cold on very slightly and it seemed to be at a reasonable temperature). Location to Gare De Lyon is ideal for getting about and the area seemed safe and pleasant, even the sex shop next to the hotel became unnoticable after the first day. This is my favorite hotel in Paris, based on value for money and location. The rooms are all done out in an art deco 20s/30s manner, with walnut style veneered walls and doors, leaded light windows plus red, blue and yellow light fittings. Good interior lighting too. The rooms are quite compact, but that's typical for Paris and they are not too small. Well appointed with the usual exec style bathroom, safe, TV, etc. I usually pay around £60GBP a night. We spent 3 nights in the Holiday Inn Bastille, and were quite pleased at the previous reviews. The foyer of the hotel is quite old fashioned looking, but the bedrooms have all recently been renovated with an excellent bathroom and good air conditioning. For some reason the beds weren't that comfortable and there wasn't a lot of wardrobe space. I chose this hotel because I was looking for a moderately priced hotel with a gym near a meeting I had to attend (Ministry of Economy and Industry on rue de Bercy). I was pleasantly surprised by the decor in the hotel. I had a King room on a non-smoking floor. The entrance to the room is a small vestibule that looks a little dowdy (beige, somewhat run down institutional walls), but once this section of the room is closed off by a door. I usually find Holiday Inn's to be basic but not this one. It is very nice and situated in a colourful and vibrant area. The staff were very kind and helpful. The room was nicely decorated and i found the beds very comfy. All in all a very nice stay, i would recommend this hotel if your looking to stay in Bastille.

i am a 20 year old college student, and my girlfriend and i stayed here on our very first trip to paris. i wasn't sure what to expect. i was a little shaken by some of the reviews on this website, and a little bit terrified about stories ive heard about paris hotels. the hotel was incredibly easy to find. it is just across the street from the gare de lyon and its metro. our train came in at gare de ost, but we just took the metro to gare de lyon. it was very nice, considering we had lots of bags, and it was not a long walk at all... more

Everything about the Holiday Inn Bastille is ordinary. The room was smallish, reasonably clean, and mid price (for Paris !). The breakfast room itself was dowdy but the complementary breakfast passable. The immediate area is none too chic (a couple of sex shops next door !!) but it does have the advantage of being close to the Gare de Lyon and there are a couple of reasonable bistros nearby. Have stayed here several times when I needed to get an early train from the Gare de Lyon which is a 2 minute walk up the road. The hotel is a reasonable Holiday Inn for Paris. The rooms are slightly larger than normal and it has the facilities you would expect of this chain. Not much atmosphere. There is a bar and breakfast room. You wouldn't pick it for a romantic weekend. There are a lot of good restaurants around here especially up the road nearer the station - great seafood ones. You can generally get a good internet rate here.

Nice hotel near Gare the Lyon and not in the Bastille area. Stayed for 3 nights and I'm very pleased with it. Good breakfast with a large variety of dishes. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was big with a nice bath. Very smooth to check in and the reservation was correct. Close to a sexshop but the only thing you could see was the sign and it is a dark window. I could stay here again next time. I paid 137 Euro for a doubleroom with breakfast.

This hotel was clean and had modern amenities that business travelers have come to expect, however it was not in the Marais district, but was in Bercy. Also, what you cannot see from the picture on the hotel website, is that the hotel is literally right next door to a "sex shop". This might not be a problem for some, but might for others. The neighborhood did not appear to be unsafe.
