We booked a "Prestige" caravan which was supposed to be more spacious-I dread to think what the others are like then! The sofas were grubby, smelt of sick and covered with crumbs-I didn't want to sit on them. The curtains fell down every time you opened or shut them. We... more

Nice park
Rockley Park is a large caravan park run by British/Haven Holidays (Bourne Leisure) comprising predominantly static caravans with some space for tourers. The park is situated in Hamworthy, Poole, on the south coast of England. It's only a couple of miles from Poole Quay and Town Centre, with Sanbanks, Bournemouth and Swanage all easily accessible by car and public transport. An open top bus (no 152) stops in the park, which travels into Poole and Bournmouth. The park has a lovely location, on a gently sloping headland overlooking Poole Harbour, the worlds second largest natural harbour. Many of the caravans have sea views. There is a small beach, which is not ideal for sunbathing or swimming, but is good for watersports, especially as there is a watersports school at the park. With 2 small children, we used to drive a few miles to Sandbanks and Bournmouth for the best swimming beaches. There is also a boat park and jetty at the park. The park is generally nicely landscaped, and is kept tidy. There is an entertainment complex which includes a small indoor pool with slide, and a larger, but still small outdoor pool. We only used the outdoor pool during our visit - there were plenty of sun loungers and chairs surrounding the pool, but these were fully used at peak times. Adjacent to the entertainment complex is a small shop selling nik-naks and basics. They also sold hot food to order, the family pizzas were pretty good. There is a launderette and hire shop. 'Oasis' is the restaurant area serving breakfast, lunches and dinner. Service was pretty poor and the food quite bland, so we usually ate elsewhere. However, the kids loved the 'character breakfasts' when Bradley Bear or Rory the Tiger would attend. Also within the entertainment complex were a few rooms of amusements (video games etc), a fish and chip takeaway, and the showbar. The showbar puts on nightly entertainment, aimed at younger kids up until 9pm. Bradley Bear and his character friends form the basis of the kids entertainment, which includes storytelling, games and dancing. My 7 and 4 year olds absolutely loved it. Note that entertainment passes are an entra cost on some holiday packages. The caravan was a gold standard - not quite as good as a gold we'd had at Kiln Park in Tenby, but still very acceptable. We requested a caravan in the Harbour View/Bay Hollow/Pine Grove part of the park and got one with a sea view, and far enough away from the entertainment complex not to get the noise. Overall, we had a very good time, the kids absolutely loved it, the caravan and the park was nice. Certainly a better park then Kiln Park.
