Just got back from our "deluxe" caravan short break, which was suppose to be for 3 nights. After 2 nights we couldn't stand another urine smelling night in our obviously sub-standard accommodation. It lacked the basics such as even a toilet brush and bedside light. Our... more

Rude unhelpful staff that don't seem to understand what customer service is! Dirty, smelly freezing cold caravan with broken windows and had power cuts every time we tried to plug something in. will NEVER be going again. it was the worst experience of my life.

After booking up and paying in January, I stumbled upon this review site. And I was terrified about what to expect from Marton Mere. The reviews were total RUBISH!!! We got there on the 22nd July and stayed for a week. It was brilliant! The whole family had fun. The caravan... more

We went to Marton Mere in August 2011 Thankfully our caravan was near to the main complex so we didn,t have to walk miles everyday. The pool and flume are excellent. The cafe bar lacks cosiness with only a few comfy chairs for the adults to lounge in at the end of the day... more

We went on holiday here for a ling weekend in May 2011 and liked it so much we are going back in September. The accommodation was large, clean and family friendly. I took three kids 12,6 and 5 and we found plenty to do.

Stayed at Marton Mere in October on a Sun Deal.Obviously when you are paying discount prices you don't expect luxury but do expect cleanliness. What a dump. As we drove towards our van there were rats running about the site, we saw many on a regular basis which could have... more

Never Again
We arrived at Haven Marton Mere and checked in at 2.30pm without any hitch, that was the only good thing about the entire week. We had booked a Prestige caravan so were exremeley shocked on entering to find a filthy carpet complete with numerous cigarette burns. The caravan smelt of stale smoke, which we appreciate Haven may find difficult to monitor but this should have been checked and put out of service until the smell had gone. However that was not the worst of it, we had brought several items to put in the fridge which when we opened could only be described as a stench of fish emitting from it. The freezer part was mid defrost with bits of frozen fish amidst the ice. The ktichen sink was stainless steel with a thick coating of brown, and the same for the washing up bowl. There were also for some unexplicable reason hairs in the microwave. There was very inferior decor and linen. My partners daughter found a dirty spoon down the side of the sofa. I could just go on and on. I visited the customer service manager on site to complain and she gave me a form to complete and hand back in. On our return home we were offered a complimentary upgrade on a future short break. I have declined the offer as we would not want to return and once again pay hundreds of pounds for what we should have had in the first place.. The facilites are very limited and may suit families with very young children. We went to see the on site caravans that were for sale and were shown a couple of basic ones that were much older than ours was supposed to be and they were ten times better. The caravan we booked was Prestige and there is only one higher. I can only sympathise with anyone booking a lower grade one. I have written back to the customer services manager to urge her to examine this particular caravan to see if it was indeed a Prestige. If so I think we were very much decieved by the photographs on the Haven web site and their descriptions.
