Never Again

Having been to Haven before I thought I would give this one a try-Never Again. Arrived after 10pm 24th Sept on Friday. Checked in our first night only to find the "Delux" caravan 70 buckingham a disgrace, holes in the wall, food on the curtains, seatings and floorings sticky and covered in stains beyond belief I cannot describe, and that is only the start of it, I could not believe what I was seeing as this was clearly false advertising. I was so peeved off at the time and I was prepared to get my money back and go somewhere else, to go all guns blazing. It turned out security guards could not have been nicer and accomdated us with another caravan which was not so clean but did look more habitable. Spoke with a member at the reception the following day and told her my complaints who informed me she would look into it and phone me back in the afternoon, she assured me we would not have to move from the caravan the security guards had given us which we were happy to stay at. Lo and behold no phone call and on Monday while we were out we were told to vacate the caravan as it had been booked by another family and they would give us an upgrade to a 3 bedroom caravan (we already booked a 3 bedroom), we had to travel back (waste of a day) A member of staff moved our belongings when we were not there, was not happy at this. The upgrade caravan was indeed much nicer (but still not so clean) and not suitable for young children as there was glass tables and glass doors which I spent most of my time keeping my 1 yr old grandson away who banged his head on the glass table. The swing park is a joke as it can only be vacated through the cafe bar when they are open and it does not cater for young children under 3.The entertainment was something else, was charged 2 different prices for the same drinks with no explanation. This is only the just of it and not just a moan, I can assure you I never complain but feel I had to let people know as there are much nicer Haven caravan sites.

Well Run Caravan Small

Sep 2010, Briran

The park is tidy the staff are friendly and efficient and the entertainment can be good though caberet is not on all days. Meals in the cafe are of reasonable quality. the caravan was modern, clean and tidy but was rather small with the smallest main bedroom we have ever stayed in with approx 9 inches of space on each side of the double bed.

Myself, Husband and 3 young children stayed at Marton Mere Caravan park between 3rd and 10th of September 2010. We found the "Deluxe" Caravan to be filthy and had a loose carpet which within 5 mins of arriving our 19 month old son tripped up and fell hurting his head, and gas fire surround which was reported immediately but never repaired within our weeks stay. The main complex itself was not much better, the glasses in the bar and show bar were dirty and covered in lipstick remnents, upon asking for a clean glass the staff had to search through looking for a clean one, whilst putting the dirty glasses back on the shelf for the next customer. Im sure this is what resulted in myself getting gastreonteritis on our last night and day. The splash zone for the kids was switched of due to it being the "end of season" even though the park is open till November, the weather was roasting and they would not switch the facilities on for the young children to cool down. If I was you, save your money and stay away !!

Well what a total waist of money this place was, arrived on the Monday and had to wait nearly an hour to get are key, had to wait in the so called "entertainment room" surrounded by the dregs of society some of which were already on their way to being blind drunk and it was only 4pm! Finally got our key and entered our caravan that smelt stale, the toilet stunk and wasn’t big enough to turn around in! shower was pathetic and dribbled out the shower head, entertainment was rubbish, pool opening hours far to short, new flume was only open for 2 hours in the afternoon which upset my daughter and me! My advice avoid this place like the plague go camping or stay in a Travelodge instead

we visited the park in july and were supposed to be staying in the top end of the grade of caravan ..prestige ... looked more like basic / budget ( supposed to last years 2009 model ) carpets were stained and settee were well worn and saggy in middle ..mattress on single beds looked year old and worn ..fridge and microwave were also years old ..numbers had came away from counter so had to guess the time when using the manual microwave
entertainment was same as previous yrs on mon & wed for the kids ..tuesday entertainment adveised in brochure was cancelled and one of the funstars did a caberet of songs from the 60's not really kids stuff instead of HSM grease etc
as previous reports say have to be in showbar early or you dont get a seat and if kids need to go to toilet they need an adult with them
as a previous posts has said i also left my straighteners in bedroom ...and phoend haven as soon as i got home ..they too were never handed in like a soft toy from previous yrs i did complain and after 6 weeks got a reply we have checked the caravan and i was definately given the prestige 2009 caravan ..and blah blah ..they would never alocate a caravan in the state i had written about sorry if i was dissapointed as the marton mere team would never allocate a holiday home without outstanding cleanliness or maintainance issues and hope i would visit again if not that park one of the others and they have a reputation for high standards and quality which they claim is well desrved by their staff
i had stayed in a few haven parks and the caravan i was allocated was definately not the grade i paid for ...but will know next time just to pay for the basic caravan without the 2-30 booking in time
we spent most of our time in Blackpool which was easy to get to by public transport ..not just the open top bus which runs ever hr
kids also like the pond area with the swans , ducks and geese ..at teh bottom of the park

Aug 2010, TOURING TONY

we took our two touring caravans to marton mere in blackpool . on arriving on the touring pitch we found the grass far to long for our awning and you couldnt see anyones elec hook up leads so had to be very carfull not to trip. we set up our caravans and headed of to the family bar with our children to find there was never anywhere to sit in the family bar and the heat in there was overwhelming . the staff wouldnt open any doors or use there air conditioning.the site toilets were very clean but all children had to have an adult with them everytime they needed to go. which is hard when you are trying to juggle 9 children so is no good for single parents. the cafe bar was very disapointing as they never had the drink we wanted . not even lemonade for a larger shandy. the hot choc was always coloured water as staff never kept check on anything .
we also found the arcade toilets were disgusting with urine and dirty nappies all over the floors. the bins were over flowing.we found the site dirty and the staff non helpfull and the noise all hours of the night night into about 3am . we had booked the pitch for two weeks and came home a week early . we put in a conplaint but have still not heared anything from anyone . the other thing on this site was the childrens play ground was very small and there was NO lighting after 8 so they were in total darkness and the problem of older kids using the playground at night and pushing the young ones off there . my autistic son was punched in the face twice because he refused to leave the park . there is no supervision so please keep your eyes on your children here.the site is full of groups of youths that push little children around . and staff just do not care . we will never go there again and was so glad to get home and if you make any complaits dont expect a reply .

dreadful customer service

Aug 2010, very disappointed

I spent 4 nights at this park from 9th-13th August. Carpet and oven of caravan were filthy, but otherwise caravan was adequate, this was a deluxe but did not reflect the additional cost.
My main complaint is the fact that on our last day my daughter left her mobile phone under her pillow and did not realise until we were well on our way home. The caravan was locked and so would only be visited by the cleaning and laundry changing staff so I was confident the phone would be handed in. I phoned to report the situation on Friday afternoon and was told abruptly to phone back on Saturday, this I did and was told someone would contact me. I have since phoned every day and been given the total runaround and no satisfaction. It would appear that the phone was not handed in and noone seems able to speak to me, I am appalled at the lack of customer care and I would have thought the managment would wish to know if lost property was not being handed in by their own staff. Incidentally, it is obvious this is a youngsters phone due to the content so whoever took it is a very low individual indeed. The managment are a disgrace and I would warn other customers to check and double check their caravan when they leave as there is a disappointing lack of honesty among the staff on this site.

we - me, the hubbie and our two kids- go to haven each year, we have been to a few of them, scarborough, wales, lakeland and thought would give the blackpool site a try this year. Never again, the caravan wasnt especially clean, rubbish under the beds, streaky windows, dirty shower, it had very basic kitchen equipment, cups, plates, cutlery and that was it. other haven sites ive stayed at-in the same grade caravan, have teapots, jugs, seives, egg cups, etc things that make life a bit easier. The facilities are no where near big enough for the amount of people the site accomodates. If you enjoy the pool in the late afternoon- if you are lucky enough to get a wristband for a timed slot- you cant get a seat in the showbar as its full by 6.30! there aren't enough seats in the cafe bar, unless you want the scrag ends of any specials that are on. the funstars are the worst funstars i have ever seen at a haven camp- they just did not seem interested in the kids.we originally booked 10 days and my parents were in a seperate van for the first w/end, i emailed haven 8wks before our arrival date to request caravans close together but on arrival was told they had been located at either end of the park- did query and the accomodation team managed to relocate my parents. the open top bus is great value as you can hop on and off all day and it goes to all the touristy stops in blackpool. the bar staff and security staff were very friendly and efficient though.

Returned from Haven Marton Mere yesterday and would like to share my views with you. We have been going to Haven for the past five years, we usually visit the Presthaven Sands park in North Wales but decided to give this site a try. In previous years due to having a pet we have only been able to book a Standard Caravan but due to our dog passing away earlier this year, this time we decided to go for a Superior Caravan. I found the check in procedure a lot easier than I have encountered before but I do believe 4pm is a ridiculous time to check in especially as all of the family entertainment starts at 6pm. We had asked for a caravan close to the amenities due to my mother having walking difficulties, we got one on Sandringham but were disappointed with it straight away. It was much smallere than I have had in previous years, there were at total of 6 in our party 3 adults and 3 children and there definetly wasn't enough room in it for us, the living area was so small we couldn't all sit down in it together at the same time! The bedrooms were tiny and the toilet was seperate with not even a sink in it, the sink was with the shower four door ways away from the toilet which is not very hygienic at all.
We didn't have a toaster which I would have thought was standard we had to go to the local Tesco to buy one!, apparently we were lucky to have a microwave which apparently isn't normally included in at Superior van!Overall the caravan was a lot worse than any I have ever stayed in before and they have all been Standard vans. We were all freezing on the first night and had to sleep with cardigans on. As soon as the reception opened the next morning I went over to complain and told them I didn't think it was actually a Superior van they took me into a seperate side office ( obviously didn't want other people to hear my compliants!), she said I was definetly in a Superior van and that the park was full and we could not be moved, she said all she could do was let me have two heaters free of charge (big wow) and extra quilts, oh and get someone over to clean the disgusting carpet, and replace the missing curtain. They did rectify all of the above but the staff that visited were amazed when I told them it was supposed to be a Superior van( that says it all to me!)I have filled in my questionnaire and listed all of my complaints and asked for an immediate response. Our children enjoyed the club but everything is rush rush rush, if you don't get over there by 6pm you don't get a table for the whole night! Swimming pool fine, restaurant nice, arcades and everything else expensive. Hopefully will get a response and will keep on to them until I do, it is so expensive to go there I really did expect more!

Enjoyable

We stayed for a long weekend in Premier accomodation. The caravan was rather scruffy for something 'top end', but clean enough.
Check in & out fast. Staff appeared overworked & too busy to be friendly, but polite enough.
The entertainment was awful, even though I understand its holiday time & it was geared to kids, but the Park resort we went last year was far superior in that area.
Food seemed to run out very fast, but the starter platter for 2 we ordered was very scrummy!
There were 7 of us in our party & we all enjoyed ourselves, but did spend most of the days in Blackpool.

I had read the reviews so was expecting bad things, but as it turned out we (2 adults and 3 children) had a very pleasant, enjoyable stay.
We stayed for 7 nights in a Standard caravan, the caravan was well equipped (we brought our own linen and towels)and reasonably clean. We enjoyed the swimming pool(free), the adventure golf(£15), the arcade games and much to my surprise we even enjoyed the evening entertainment in the show bar(free). The open top bus into Blackpool (£8.80 for an all day family ticket) was convenient, as was Tesco only 1 mile away. I would also recommend the "Sweet and Sour" Chinese takeaway in Cherry Tree Rd North, who happily delivered to our caravan.
