We stayed for four nights, and had a great time!
We were a bit concerned after reading many of the comments on some review sites, but were pleasantly surprised with the site and its facilities.
If you've been to a Haven before, then you'll have come to expect the noisey arcade area you have to walk through.
The show bar was cleaner and better set out than other havens we've been to.
No problems checking in or out - but dont bother trying to check in before the time on your booking.
Food was all fine and bar etc all clean.
Tesco is only 5 minutes drive so no problem stocking up, and Blackpool centre and beach also 5 to 10 minute drive.
The indoor swimming pool was also fine, nothing amazing but it was all the kids needed - the new slide is very good!!
The caravan was clean and had all we required. I would recommend getting one with heating in the bedrooms, as it was a bit chilly at night.
So all in all we found it to be a good site, with helpful and cheerful staff, and I'm sure we will be returning in the future.

On touring pitch, had excellent view of the nature reserve. Wonderful to walk around the lake. During our stay we saw (and heard) many different types of birds, swans, ducks and geese frequently flying past (also saw bats and rabbits!) - you completely forget you're on a commercial holiday site - go, go, go (and remember the binoculars)!!! On site facilites excellent and all staff were friendly.

Me and my 3 children had a fantastic Friday to Monday break at this park. Check in was straight forward, we had a superior caravan which was in immaculate condition and all beds were made up on arrival.
There was plenty for my children aged 12, 10 and 6 to do during the day and the evening entertainment was fantastic. By the time Monday morning came my children didn't want to leave. My only complaint is that due to the weather being very hot over the weekend I would like to have seen the outdoor splashzone open, I accept in Haven's brochures it states it opens from May to September but due to the extremely hot weather it would have been nice for them to make an exception.
Would definately come to this park again and for a longer break next time, I would advise people to try the park for themselves and not listen to negative reviews, if you arrive at a holiday park with the intention of enjoying it then more than likely you will do.

I have just returned from staying at Marton Mere Haven site. Visited 11th April - 15th April 2011.
After reading the reviews, I was quite nervous about visiting the site, even after going a couple of years back and it was still brilliant then!
We turned up ALL staff very polite and helpful.
Food on site is perfect.
Entertainment is really good aswell.
Caravan spotless and very nice inside and outside.
Lovely little nature reserve with a couple of bird hides and a nice little walk around the lake.
Blackpool is a up and coming city (Rebuilding Blackpool Tower, Seafront, Trams, Madame Tussauds).
On the last night, everyone got given free giftcards with £5 for the amusements to try out the new swipe system !!
Amusements and Amenities spotless and lots to do for people of all ages.
Will defiantly return late this year and maybe next year aswell !!
Ignore all the BAD reviews !!
Visit the site, you won't be disappointed !

I was thinking of cancelling my booking when I read the reviews but the kids was looking forward to it and thought see how it goes as it was a Sun Holiday and though didnt pay much what would u expect, got there security asked us for I.D they were very helpful as we intended to go to Pleasure Beach gave us direction and helpful hints. The actual complex was clean and so was the caravan we stayed in. We really enjoyed it there and would recommend it to others. There were alot of youg kids and teenagers but thats what you would expect in the holidays but we never saw or had any trouble. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. The only thing I can say negative is that I thought they could have had a bigger swiming pool we had to book time slots if we wern't arund we would miss it.
- Advice: It was easy catching the bus to the beach and Pleasure Beach.

After reading some reviews about Marton Mere i was a little worried what i was letting myself in for....i really had no need to worry though, from start to finish i cannot fault a single thing about the holiday park.
Me,my friend,my daughter (4yrs) and her son (3yrs) arrived Mon 4th April to collect the keys to our Prestigue caravan. I have stayed at Havens in the past but always stayed in Standard/Standard Plus. We were really happy on arriving at our caravan,it was spotless, beds made up,big flat screen tv,dvd player, even an en suite in the big bedroom! The caravan was very spacious, plenty of room for the kids to play hide and seek!
There was plenty of things on for the kids to do,we spent a couple of full days on the park without getting bored. The swimming pool was clean, not the biggest, but did the job! and would advise going early on if you have little ones as it did get quite busy after 11am.
The entertainment on an evening was really good,it got very busy but always managed to get a table, and get served at the bar pretty quick. Found all the staff to be friendly and helpful.
The bus service from the park wasnt running as we went out of season, but didnt find this a problem as there is a bus stop just up the road which takes you to the town centre for £1.80.
All in all we had a brilliant week,i would definitly reccomend this park to anyone and will definitly go back again.

We stayed at martin mere last year on one of the sun deals.
when we arrived and saw the general entrance and state of the place we had some reservations but decided to make a go of it and as it had not cost much money.
However we noticed during our stay that the security was not good and friends who visited us at the park were not asked for passes by security.
If we knew what was going to happen during our stay we would have left immediately, but we had paid and decided that we had to stay as the kids had been really looking forward to it.
For some reason as the holiday park is called martin mere we were expecting a scenic wildlife kind of area but this was the total opposite to what we encountered which was a dull grim surroundings and the park was surrounded by a council estate.
There appeared to be alot of youngsters who were pretty rough and swearing coming into the amusement arcade who did not appear to be part of the campsite and we felt that this created a bad environment for kids and their safety.
there was also some gipsy rides that had been allowed to operate in the grounds who were very rough looking and had loud music and were swearing and we felt that this was totally inapropriate for what we thought was a family location.
There is no getting around the fact that we found the staff to be unmotivated and unfriendly, the place to be very grubby with bad toilet areas and everything inside the entertainment to be of poor quality and very overpriced.
However we would have excepted this due to the fact that we had not paid much for the holiday.
However on the second day of our stay I was playing with my 3 year old son inside the amusement arcade and was holding him close to me when i fel what can only be described as a very sudden and powerful impact to my upper right hand side of my face just below my eye.
Such was the force of the impact that I have no doubt that it would have taken out my eye or seriously injured my son who I was holding at the time if it had been inched above or below the area I was struck.
If felt as though someone had thrown an object and I quickly ran towards my right to see if i could see anyone who might have thrown something - to my complete suprise there was nobody there.
At this point I had not seen the injury.
I quickly grabbed the security in my shocked state and told them somebody or something had hit me in the face but couldnt explain what had happened and it ws really strange that I had not seen anyone running away etc.
I insisted that the police and an abulance be called because I could tell just from the pain that the injury must be quite bad, but revealingly Haven staff didn,t offer to do this or to look at the CCTV footage - I had to instigate everything which to me shows a lack of concern for their paying guests.
When we viewed the CCTV with the police very oddly nothing could be seen flying through the air or anybody running away all that could be seen was me clutching my face in pain and running towards the area that the object came from also there was nothing on the floor etc.
When speaking with the police I got the general impression that there were alot of incidents at this park and we felt it was in our best interests to leave the park immediately for our safety (i was generally scared).
both my young kids were really upset on seeing my injury but not once did the haven staff seem concerned.
When I got back to my caraven I saw my injury for the first time in the mirror - I had a large lump the size of a golf ball on my face and a small tiny open wound that was a square shape.
On seeing the would I immediately felt that this was a pellet mark on my face and this seemed to fit in with no object being found, nobody being seen and the sudden speed and force of impact of it.
We told Haven staff we were leaving and quite frankly were amazed by their lack of interest in the events that had happened.
My daughter was upset and was nervous every time we went to a public place for months after and we vowed to never go on a haven holiday again - even if we were paid to go.
We never received an apology or even had the remaining days of our holiday re-imbursed by Haven Holidays & we truly felt from our experience that Haven Holidays does not care about their customers in the slighest.
I took photos of my injury when I got home and it took ten days to turn into just a black eye.
Thanks for everything Haven!!
If anyone wants to see my injuries I will post them online.

Having visited haven sites nearer home we decided to go further afield, only to be disappointed.
we booked a superior caravan, which had dirty carpets, mould on curtain in living room. the gas fire wasn't working when we arrived, aswell as the kitchen light, the tv, carbon monoxide alarm. the door latch had to be tightened as even when the door was locked it didn't seem very secure. we reported the outside tv ariel 3 times as it had dropped down and resulted in poor tv signal, by the time we left it still hadn't been sorted, we ended up going out to buy a dvd player and some dvd's so my daughter had something to watch as we only managed to get seats in showbar 1 night.
The showbar was grubby, the chairs stuck to carpet, glasses weren't clean we made good use of antibacterial wipes i happened to have in my bag before drinking from glasses.
i found the holiday wasn't value for money and the only thing that made it enjoyable was escaping the park to spend time Blackpool

Collected the key after being deafened in the showbar and drove down to the "luxury" caravan. Dirty, sagging upholstery; curtains hanging off the rails (and not on hooks!!); 3 wine glasses etc for 4 people; dirty carpet; many minor broken items such as kitchen tap, outdoor light, toilet seat, pan handle, casserole lid. All these items were reported to reception but by the time we left only two of those items had been repaired. The shower had leaked into the main bedroom wardrobe and mould was visible around the shower tray. Why doesn't someone who really cares about the way people are treated look into these genuine complaints - not just from me but from everyone. I think in all honesty I will not be returning here.

We had a lovely caravan in Kensington. Spotless, clean and everything we wanted. Staff were friendly, efficient and any issue was dealt with promply and with excellent manners. We (a family of 6 - 3 generations - were very impressed by the standards here. No litter! No thugs! Great staff! Well done - Marton Mere.

As with all holidays you dont know what to expect till you get there, well i was not disappointed the site was great not the biggest haven i have been to but great all the same, the caravan was spotless with two toilets a lovely shower , wooden floors which i feel is a better look. The entertaintment was ok not great but i expect that was because of the time of year but not a problem as still enjoyed it . All round we had a good stay there . Loved the flume which was open which i was not expecting so a bonus .
