Cala Gran Holiday Park

I stayed in Cala Gran with my husband and two children aged 11 and 12 in August. When we arrived we decided to upgrade and were very happy with the price quoted and the caravan we received we could not have had a better location.
We booked the holiday and then I looked at the site reviews, what a mistake, I was dreading the holiday. We were pleasantly suprised when we arrived, the site wasn't dirty and the staff were really helpful, the only problem was the car parking on arrival.
There is a bus stop outside the park going to Blackpool which was really useful.
What else can I say, for the money we paid and the accommodation we received overall it was well worth every penny, my only one moan would be the night entertainment, it was a bit lacking for my kids as they are slightly older but the younger kids seemed to enjoy it.

We went on our holiday at the end of July, with friends. We upgraded our friends van so they would be closer, but oh no... they were quite a walk away,even tho we call weeks in advance to ensure we would be close by each other, as instructed when we booked. we both had Prestige Vans, stayed in better Standard Vans than this. We could not get our boys into any of the activities available to them. The Activity area consisted of 3 small trampolines and 1 archery lane, both unattended. The swimming pool was very small, and the guards seemed only intrested in the 'hot totty' of the week, my son slipped over and banged his head right infront of a guard and it went unnoticed. The entertainment was quite poor, as there seemed to be very little staff to organise anything. The toilet facilities in the main area were extreamly dirty.
Overall a very poor site.

everything was great except.. the staff in the mash and barrell need to put a smile on their faces!!! they all look so dour! they walk about nearlytripping on their bottem lips! and one of the girls that worked there put her personal life into her work by missing out our table and not cleaning it and ignoring us when we spoke to her because her ex who works there was aparently talking to me? get it sorted.. terrible customer service.

arrived 25th july 2011 after reading some reviews wasn,t sure what to expect, have to say was surprised to find a lovely receptionist who was very friendly and explained everything,
The caravan was spotless and as we have 5 children was just what we needed after long journey , couldn,t fault the caravan park, it was clean , had lots to do for the kids especially the water activities alright some were booked full before we arrived but they still manage to get some of them. We experienced NONE of the bad things some reviews had and we all had a great holiday and plan to return next year , hopefully to the same exceptional standard as we had this year, only down side was wish the childrens park had been bigger as not a lot for my 15month,
would like to also say how polite and chatty all the staff members we met were as have been on other sites where staff can be very fed up looking and not very approachable so it was a nice change at this park.

well what can i say! but my caravan was immaculate clean and fresh staff were more than helpful always happy to help well spoken,great with the kids mash and barrell resteraunt was a nit too expensive but nice and quick service would highly recomend!!!!!

well, after reading the reviews on this website, i was dreading it. we had a superior caravan and when we gotin it, i couldnt believe it. it was exceptionally clean. there was no faulty items, no damp or mustyness. the bedrooms where exceptionally clean for a superior. the two twin bedrooms because we had a 3 bedroom caravan, where placed where they was so you could push them together to make a double bed. our couch pulled out into a double bed which was handy. they gave us an extra double quilt if we needed it. the kitchen was clean and tidy. i was dissapointed because there was no toaster but we used the grill which works just as good. the bathroom was clean and tidy, no blocked drains and no urine anywhere in sight. like people have said on this site, you will need to bring toiletries and toilet roll and towels. the lound was imaculate and very clean. no dirt seeable. we had a 19 inch flat screen t.v with built in freeview so we could watch soaps and other fun programmes. we got checked in in 5 minutes which was handy, but it was a ten minute walk from reception to caravan but it was worth it. the swimming pool was quite small, but the saunas and jacuzzi made up for it. the amusements where very enjoyable and took lots of amounts of money. on the ticket machines you could win lots of tickets. the mash and barrell restaurant was good. it had enjoyable food. the prices where abit steep but very worth the portions and presentation the food came in. there is a spar round corner from the reception which is very handy for all of the essentials you need. the laundrette is situated next door to the spar convenience shop. abit expensive but if you never brought enough clean clothes then very handy. there is also adventure golf and climbing frames for little children and hireable go-karts for sightseeing. theer is a bus stop right outside the park. from cala gran to blackpool town centre(blackpool north rail station) is only 2.20 per adult and is a 20-30 minute bus ride. there is a little tesco express an hour walk (5-10 minute car ride) away for your groceries. also on the park, you can buy caravans which range between 6,000 - 40,000 pounds. the staff are very friendly and the life guards joke around with you and talk to you when in the pool area. if you forget armbands or little swimmer nappies then they sell them there for a reasonable price. lockers are one pound to use. if you are conscientous about your weight, then you are allowed to wear a t-shirt in the pool which is also very handy. the showbar and entertainment is fantastic. we went for 4 nights in july and when we went it was sunny and scorching hot. came back bright red with sunburn and a bit of a sun tan. reasonable prices for carvans too. we went in a superior 3 bedroom caravan and it cost us (209.00). we are going again for 4 nights at beginning of october from the 3rd till the 7th. we are staying in a 3 bedroom deluxe caravan and it has only costed us (139.00). so if anyone is thinking about a small holiday, this is the place to go ! !

i read the reviews for carla gran after i booked my 3 day break and was really worried ide made a mistake with all the negative feedback. i dont know where everyone else was staying but when we arrived it was nothing like what was being described by the negative comments here. the park itself was spotless, no rubbish in sight..anywhere!!
check in was quick and the caravan we had was absolutely gorgeous. spotless in every room, almost like new. i could have stayed there forever.
the show bar ( which some say was awful).. well that was very very clean and didnt smell at all. the entertainment was great too for the kids and adults later on in the evening. toilets in the arcade were immaculate and smelt fine.
the slash zone in the day was brill for kids (but maybe a little cold) and they always found plenty to do during the day.
i hope everyone has the great experience we had at carla gran, and i definatly cant wait to go back again soon.

After reading the reviews listed on this site before going on holiday to this resort, I was extremely apprehensive about my choice, expecially as I had booked it for others too.
I must say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My party consisted of 7 with an age range of 3 -66 and we felt that the facilities on the site were the best of our Sun Booked holidays to date. The caravan was clean and tidy with the mod cons you would expect. The site wasn't massive yet it had everything for all age ranges, inside and out. Although the pool was on the more compact size, it was sufficient for children and adults to enjoy the fun. The splash area outside added to the fun (weather helped on that side mind you).
The restaurant food, although perhaps a couple of pounds more expensive than you would normally pay, was really nice for both adults and children.
Myself and my family found all interactions with staff very pleasant and accomodating.
Now I know that people have very different expectations of holidays and I must say that I and my family expect decent standards whether it be booking via the Sun Holiday offers or direct and we weren't disappointed. I would recommend this site to anyone and urge people to give it a go before believing everything you read as most people only write reviews to moan and not to praise!!!!

I have had numerous stays at cala gran, and unfortunately i must say it has gone downhill! caravan was dirty, and as for the entertainment very disappointing compared to previous stays. the mash and barrel is quite expensive for the quality of food!

when we arrived at our caravan i knew straight away the caravan inside would be filthy right around the outside of the caravans was hundreds of cigerette stumps! when entered inside was strong smell of urine! that bad we had to buy bottles of bleach and bleach out the bathroom and kitchen! also the sink in the bathroom was blocked! some windows had net missing in the double room the matress was stained with blood!! it was changed but that did'nt even look much better! all the matresses were worn out one had spring sticking out of it! the caravan was damp therefore 3 of us had to sleep in the lounge area! the entertainment was poor very little to do we were that bored we spent most of our time in blackpool! one day we went in the pool there was things floating in there what should'nt have been! the line of people at the reception desk waiting to complain was shocking! one woman was in tears trying to get upgrade because her caravan was that bad! all the women at reception desk said sorry we cant upgrade you! this site and it's staff are apauling and its about time the place was closed down!
