Excellent Holiday. All staff helpful...
9 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs L S Muat

Excellent Holiday. All staff helpful and pleasant. Two heated pools indoor and outdoor. Pools kept clean and well manned. Swimming lessons for children. Really good family caravan holiday. Caravan in lovely condition with TV and microwave. Plenty of things to do for the children, daytime clubs and characters for them to meet. day and night entertainment. Stables on site with horse riding facilities.
Fun farm for families just a walk away from site. In the evening there is Showtime in the bar and children can stay until closing time. Disco's every night. Just like the Pontins and Butlins holidays that I had as a child, good family fun. Nice shop on site. Grange over Sands is a lovely country town nearby with little shops on the high street. Barrow and Kendal have super markets both interesting towns to look at.
So much to do on site didn't get time to explore the lake district - will do that next year. Not to keen on the slot machine area that you have to come through to enter complex - to tempting to spend your pennies. Without the slot machines I would have rated it 10/10.

We spent a wonderful May bank holiday...
8 / 10
May 2006, Mrs Astbury

We spent a wonderful May bank holiday in our touring caravan at Lakeland. It was a last minute decision and booked it only a week before. The touring park is an excellent size and you are not squashed in like some other parks I have been to.
The only downside to the touring park was that you are not allocated a pitch no and it is first come first served so my advice would be to arrive early afternoon to get a good pitch.
The entertainment was excellent for my children 5 & 1 who loved Rory and Bradley. The food in the restaurant was good value and not over priced as we had read prior to going. The drinks are average pub prices.
The swimming pool needs improving though. There are only 4 or 5 changing cubicles and 2 family cubicles and so we all had to wait outside to be allowed in one at a time to get changed. If this was improved then it would be a 10/10.
Hope you have a lovely time here and we will definitely be going back again soon.

We spent a wonderful, peaceful, week...
10 / 10
Jul 2004, Mrs A Smith

We spent a wonderful, peaceful, week in this quirky Studio/Cottage in Ambleside, Cumbria. From the road the building looks like a quaint olde worlde cottage, however at the back, the Studio part of the building is raised up so that the Living / Dining area has an unspoilt view of Lake Windermere.
Inside the accommodation is comfortable having 3 average sized downstairs bedrooms, 1 double, 2 twin bedded rooms. There are 2 bathrooms on the ground floor one with a bath the other has a walk in shower. A deceptively small but well stocked kitchen with plenty of storage space, has a staircase leading to a huge studio bedroom with 2 single beds and a set of bunk beds, with huge picture window overlooking the Lake, there is another bathroom on this level. Downstairs, off the kitchen leads to a spacious Living / Dining with patio doors to a small balcony area, to sit out on, admire the views and soak up the sun.
Down a flight of steps and within 3 strides you are paddling in the cool water of Lake Windermere, or stroll down the small jetty and feed the family of swans who know where their bread is buttered! The children had so much fun feeding them! Not to mention swimming in the frankly, chilly water!
Ideal for a large family or groups of friends, (there was 9 of us) the Studio will sleep 10 and there is plenty of space for the whole family to sit and eat and then relax in the evenings.
There is a ferry across the lake for day tripping, 3 minutes walk away and for general shopping Ambleside is a mile away on the local bus. Kendle is 12 miles away for the more seasoned shopper, although why you would need to shop is beyond me. We just chilled out and spent time relaxing, a few day trips to Windermere, Grasmere and Hawkshead, was as strenuous as it got.
The sun shone (mostly) the kids played in the water, the wine flowed and the wrinkles smoothed! In fact we were so pleased with our destination we are going back again this year, for 2 weeks of total relaxation. Bliss!
