" Best Haven Site "
Submitted By: ShylockIf your looking for a simple getaway then this is the place.
Edinburgh is a pound bus ride away and it is right on the beach. We have been to several haven sites n the past which have better amenities but the people who worked there made it great.
The funstars were fantastic to our children and were always doing activities with the children from the morning, right through to the entertainment in the evening. There was also outside entertainment on the weekends. There are two bars in Seton Sands, the one that served food had friendly staff and the club room staff were also helpful.
I did have a problem which I approached a manager about and he actually seemed concerned and listened to my problem. It was soon recified and we got about the rest of our day. It makes a change when the people in charge are genuinely concerned for there business.
After reading the other reviews from last year, this years management must be the difference because the food is great, the bar teams know what they are doing and the complex is clean.
Just right for a good get away.

" Great Holiday "
Submitted By: mary garryHowever we were really pleased with Seton Sands.
The caravan was clean and quite new with double glazing although it was only the Standard Model . We had no microwave though , but you could hire one for £10.
The entertainment was great with live bands in the family room, or an adult only bar with caraoke on Friday and a singer on Saturday. The owners also had their own private lounge which l thought was good as some of the sites we have visited had a lot of angry owners who had seen their clubs ruined .Some of them are like walking into hell with bored children running amock and we never go back to those ones.
The fish and chop shop was actually cheaper than the ones off site in Port Seton. They had a lovely patio off the swimming pool and between the adult bar, which doubles up as a restaurant through the day.We never had time to try this as we were out exploring every day on the bus which leaves every 30 minutes from the camp entrance into Edinburgh.
We had a great time and we will be going back for a longer visit next time.
Apint of Smooth beer was £2,45 and a pint of dry cider was £2.70.
Advice: Very interesting area. Never realised how much history there was.Liked the murals on the beach ,

" Filthy dirty dog poo filled site with... "
Submitted By: Miss S KiddWe were camping in our own tent, the pitches had been flooded the day before and it was very muddy. The man who looked after the touring pitches was very friendly and helpful and changed the pitch we had originally been allocated so that we were in a better position.
Every time we entered the toilet/shower block the floors were filthy, covered in mud, toilet paper and fag ends. The showers were not very friendly to use as they were scolding hot, so absolutely no use for children and nowhere to put your dry clothes. We went swimming every morning, even though we did not want to, just to get a clean shower.
The playground always seemed to be filled with drunk teenagers, drinking lager, smoking and swearing. This meant we were unable to let our 6 year old son go into the playground, which really upset him.
It was very difficult to sleep at night as there were always people arguing, screaming, crying and swearing and as we were close to the main road which seemed to be used as a racing track this did not make things any easier. On the walkway up to the main complex you have to pass some bins there was always litter on the ground and broken glass.
Everything is over priced from the rubbish chip shop to the shop and the bars.
The room where the entertainment took place was far too hot and the entertainment was dreadful and mostly consisted of bingo. We could not bear being in the place and instead spent most of our time in Edinburgh city, which was great.
If the site had been cleaner and better entertainment I think we would have spent more time there, unfortunately we will never go back and I would strongly recommend that if you are going to use a touring pitch that you think again and avoid this camp site at all costs.

Submitted By: Ms K WardellCaravan was fantastic value for money, dble glazed, central heating, definatley needed for the scottish Weather!!!!!!!! Very well equipped, tv dvd player, freeview, even a washing Machine!!!!!!!!!!!!Jenny very helpful, nothing too much trouble.
Booked through Haven last year and caravan was no where near standards or even equipped the same.
Entertainment very good, Staff are very friendly, swimming pool and staff are great, my kids had swimming lessons great value for money. My kids love it at Seton Sands, though not a great deal for adults on holiday without the kids!!!!! Ideal base for sightseeing, great location for Edinburgh or even North Berwick,
On site shop, launderette and chip shop!!! very pricey but there is a local co op 5 mins away, with local chip shop chemist, chinese takeaway and restaurant, local pubs and post office.
I will return as long as my kids are enjoying it, and would definately phone Jenny before haven!

" We stay in a Gold standard caravan at... "
Submitted By: Dr A JarvisOverall our experience was positive. The caravan was clean, spacious, modern and comfortable. In the twin bedroom, the two beds were only large enough for children, not grown adults. I would say the accommodation was suitable for 2 adults and two children. The toilet/shower room in the caravan was excellent.
The site had a shop, chippy and entertainment/swimming pool complex. We didn't like the entertainment complex much. We found it down market and tacky and we only visited it a couple of times for the children’s activities and we didn't get around to going swimming. We had a couple of drinks at the bar which was OK, but we didn't like the look of the food being served so we avoided it. There was a Co-Op supermarket for all your needs only 5 minutes drive away. We did have a fish supper from the chippy and to be fair it was OK, I've had far worse. Wished I'd have tried the deep fried pizza though.
The best thing about Seton Sands was its location. It's brilliant for Edinburgh which you get into the centre of by bus, with a stop right outside the Park gates. It took about 45 minutes. Also for exploring the whole East Lothian region. There's plenty to see and do: North Berwick seabird centre, Roslyn chapel, Scottish Aircraft museum and lots of castles.
Yes, overall our experience was positive and we would return sometime in the future.

Submitted By: liz taylorThis was much nicer than 4 star caravans we have stayed in on other sites; it was more like a gold standard minus the heating. Lovely!
We had taken lots of food and so the prices in the shop didn’t bother us but there is a co-op store along the road in Port Seton if you need to buy stuff. The fish shop on site did delicious food ... real chips ...and some very odd things like deep fried pizza and deep fried haggis. The only meal we had in the Oasis bar was very poor.
The staff at this Haven were absolutely great nothing was too much trouble. One evening Lucy age 3 lost the pink fluffy flashing thing her mummy had just bought her, I went into the shop to buy her a new one as she was really upset and the girl just gave us a new one.
The show bar was always clean and tidy someone was coming round all the time collecting glasses and rubbish. The manager of the shop was extremely helpful in locating another pink unicorn ...Hannah and Lucy wanted the same toy!
We have also been to Primrose Valley and Haggerston Castle and although Seton Sands doesn’t have as many facilities i.e. no boats or bikes or funfair it made up for it with the staff and the clean site and friendliness. I would definitely recommend this haven park.

Submitted By: Mr A AndrewSports court is a concrete court not what they advertise on their website I complained and they just squirmed and acted stupid.
Pool to small standard of food and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Golf courses close by, yes if you are extremely wealthy.
Beach is a good walk away. Site always seems populated by youngsters all drinking Buckfast and Lager or smoking on the beach.
Caravans near the top of the site get no peace most of the day due to kids in adjacent fields on motor bikes - some blooming noise.
To be avoided at all costs go to Haggerston instead.

How wrong can they be??.. We arrived to a friendly welcome from the very helpful reception ladies. Although we arrived early for our 4pm check-in time there was pleanty going on in the main bar. Face painting and games and also a little show from one of their characters (Cheeky the gorilla??) This kept my 4 year old entertained until we could collect our keys!
Once we had our keys to our delight the caravan was fantastic. With a varanda and a seaview. The beds had been made up for us and it was spotless!
During the daytimes we went off doing our exploring and visiting some of the fantastic attractions around Edinburgh, which is a bargain to get to at just 1.20 on the bus which leaves the park every 20 mins daily!
When the evening came my little one could not wait to get in to the show room to see the characters, her favorite was Bradley bear (who I must admit was very cute) From seven o'clock every night there was over 2 hours of childrens entertainment including character shows, kids bingo and fun and games! I really dont know how the "funstars" do it, they were fantastic! We did go on a mid week break so most of the entertainment was done by the resident entertainers but this did not matter as the shows they put on for us were very proffessional and to an excellent standard.
The bar was a little on the expensive side but I expected this from a holiday camp so it did not come as a shock! All staff we came into contact with were very polite, and helpful!
All in all this was a brilliant short break and we will be returning to Seton Sands again in the very near future.
Good for: Beach City Breaks
