Seton Sands Touring park

We booked a 3 night touring site the weekend of 10 Sept to 13 Sept. Sadly, we had set our expectations based on our previous stay in a static van, which was really very nice, HOWEVER, we will NEVER stay in the touring park again! It is very clear that Seton Sands' main focus is on the static caravans which is evident in the toilets provided for these guests in the entertainment centre. The ablution facilities (bathrooms) provided for the tourer are appalling to say the very least! We ended our 3 night stay after the second night as we could not face having to shower or use the toilets in the condition in which they are left. They were cleaned once a day, early in the morning, which is unacceptable especially when the park was filled to capacity. There were blobs of toilet paper on the ceiling, taps not working, toilets blocked, shower doors broken and generally, the facilities were in a filthy state all day. It is unusual to leave a bathroom feeling dirtier than you did on entering - but that sums up exactly how we felt! A real pity, as this has put us off returning to the park. It's a shame the tourers aren't looked after in the same high standard as the static caravaners!! Afterall, we pay the same good money to stay in the same park, we just chose different accommodation.

We booked a week at Seton Sands and had a brilliant time, from the moment we arrived we had a great time, we spent plenty of time on the beach, we only had to walk maybe 20 metres up the beach to golden sand, away from the rocky area, the caravan was in pristine condition and very spacious, we booked a prestige caravan and it really was. the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful too. The children really enjoyed the arcade and swiiming areas, and we enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, every evening was peaceful, just listening to owls and seagulls. I would recommend taking some shopping with you though, as the onsite shop and chip shop can be quite expensive ( £6 for fish and chips!!) overall it was a great place to say.

Jul 2010, FAMILY REVIEW..

My familly and i were her for 1 week in a private hire van(MUIRFIELD END) the caravan was in pristine condition, with all mos cons etc, it was perfectly situated quite near everything but not too close to hear any noise......The park itself was perfect plenty for the kids to do and adults alike..most of the staff were ok but some of the bar staff were very cluless and unhelpful..as were the non existant security guards...we paid over £50 for 2 adult and 2 child passes and we were never asked for them throughout our stay....so we never really needed to buy them, most of the security guards were more interested in the young women , which seemed to grab their attention more than doing their jobs....Overall we had a very good time and would probably go back ...but wouldnt buy the passes unless we were ever asked to as they were also a bit pricey..

  • Advice: dont buy the passes on offer or the macaroni..

just returned from seton sands and we had a great time we where welcomed and checked in very easily, caravan was clean and tiday ,we had a 1yr old and 3yr old with us and we where sited just away from the main complex which meant it was nice a quiet which meant the kids could play outside and we could relaX , we needed to ask for 2 items that we needed for caravan and both time they where sorted within 30 minutes, all the staff that we came into contact with where very pleasant and helpfull.
only downfall was the shop opening times ,as for prices they are about standard for this type of place so i had no problems there
i think it might of not been as good if the children where a few years older

Just back from Seton Sands, accomodation was excellent although the entertainment and facilities of the park leave a lot to be desired. The caravan that we had was excellent and we had plenty space for ourselves and our two young kids. The site is a joke though, the swimming does not open until 2pm as proir to that it is only residents that can use the pool, the sports organised for during the day are pathetic. The Coca Cola football is advertised as 2pm - 3.30pm and by a profesional football coach. This was ran by a lifeguard from the pool who clearly didn't have a clue and didn't want to be there, he just organised a game in which he played in then called it a day after 30 minutes then left. The kids club is run in a pub by about 3 adults and the night entertainment is very poor. Outwith this there is very little to do on the site, to hire a bike to cycle around the campsite for 1 hour it will set you back £10. To hire a float for your kid in the swimming it will set you back £5. There is nothing to do at all for kids aged between 0-3, I mean nothing at all. There was a puppet show one day but it's only organised so that the puppet guy can give a sales pitch to the adults every two minutes to intice them to buy a blue cross caravan (they should try and have a more enticing entertainment complex and better clubs and facilities for children and people might consider a caravan on this site). Very disappointed by this very basic excuse for an entertainment complex, will never be back.

when we booked we did the sun deal £9.50 and were told to check in at 4pm so in order to beat the rush because we have a baby and small child, we arrived approx half an hour early but we were told we still had to wait for the offical meeting at 4pm so ok fine then had to wait a futher hour for the keys to be handed out, straight away not too happy kids starting to kick off, then arrived at caravan which was very small absoulutly stinking of smoke we requested a high chair which we recived but was badly ripped, we also had phoned prior to our arrival about a microwave being avalible for us it wasn't the cot bed we requested was there but will only fit in lounge area, great start. also linen had not been delivered, the fire did not have a baby guard so no chance of using it. When we booked we were hit with a load of supplement charges which we did not expect because the sun deal is 4 pages of small print the shower is a drip if your are lucky. the kids club was not a kids club, it was 2 or 3 reps on a stage in a bar thats it, no chance to leave kids for an hour no security for kids no proper baby areas, and this really hacked me off the swimming pool is only avalible from 2pm onward how bad is that the "OWNERS" get preferential treatment for the pool EVERY day from 8am till 1pm. also there is no seperate pedestrian walkways for people with prams or wheelchairs you got to walk on road which is nightmare when lots of staff are whizzing about at top speed on there buggys. the evening entertainment is a JOKE the same as the kids club but with bingo. as you would expect the price for drinks cost a fortune and you cannot access the entertaiments lounge, pool or reataurant without having to pass hundreds of all ages amusments be prepared to be ripped off. now my last complaint was the adjacent beach i know it has nothing to do with the caravan park but it was disgusting no upkeep whatsoever DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, DO NOT GO, the best part was coming home. never ever ever again.i feel sorry for you if you have booked and paid. like me you have been ripped off .

hi went to seton sands on friday the 11th june for long weekend from the sun from 9.50 holidays which actually cost 68pounds.
got to the park and booked in the staff were very pleasant, then we went to the caravan which well where will I start. It was absolutley stinking of cigarette smoke we almost choked on the way in the door and i had our grandson with us we opened all doors and windows but to n o evail did it clear, we then went to the shops and bought detol cloths and airfreshener which when we got back and sprayed made no difference what so ever. The furniture was so badly stained we struggled to sit on it the cutlery was filthy the frying pan was greasy and still had food on. In the early hours of the morning i had to call the security guards due to not having been to sleep yet also due to music shouting and some one banging on a caravan opposite ours Anyway needless to say we packed up on the saturday morning and handed the keys back to reception the girl was very nice and asked if ther was anything she could do her supervisor was not in but she said that she would tell her and she would be in touch with me it is now tuesday the 15th and not heard from anyone yet I will be pursuing to get all my monies back. Also I am a member of the caravan camping club with my own caravan and seton sands is listed with them which I shall also be writting to them. Regards Linda Haddow.

we went to seton sands in may 2008 and enjoyed it so much we returned in may 2010 and even booked 3 caravans so that friends and family could join us.
what a difference a couple of years make!
the site was dirty with bins overflowing in most areas, unaccompanied children physically fighting in the kids playpark on a daily basis while the parents sat drinking heavily in the terrace bar.
kids entertainment was fine but the pictures and character toys etc were extortionate!
funstars were all great full of energy and fun for the kids although one or 2 seemed to be under the influence of something which resulted in them being a bit too over the top and a few children gave them a kick in the bingo balls!
evening entertainment for adults was poor with lots of toddlers running round the bar until close at midnight(although they were better behaved than the 9-10 year olds smoking drinking and throwing things at other people in the amusement arcade until close at midnight EVERY night that we were there!)
swimming pool doesnt even have a changing area so was not overly impressed the one time we braved it!
the caravan was decidedly different even though we paid less the year before. dirty carpets, dirty crockery and bedrooms which barely fitted the beds into them!
the whole site seems very dated with the smell of mildew still hanging around on our clothing upon our return home.
our kids really did enjoy themselves when they werent surrounded by swearing and drunken banter and for that reason i havent given up on seton sands all together but i think extra security/supervisors during the day and night are needed to prevent the park turning into a free for all riot!!!!

  • Advice: great as a base but site facilities are very dissappointing

Very disappointed with our 4 night stay at seton sands, toilets were disgusting, no soap in the dispensers for 4 days, in any of the toilets, general place is dirty and smelly, the walkway from the main complex to the spar shop was a disgrace, over full smelly bins, and as for the main beach it was covered with litter, as we went this week quiet season, i hate to imagine what this place will be like in high season, if you want a lovely beach head to north berwick, safe beach for your little cherubs.. no broken glass, beer bottles etc.. the only positive thing was the bus to edinburgh £3 return ..
The caravan was ok.. but no hoover, cleaning things etc.

  • Advice: needing ££££ spent on it, very dated and dirty
