I booked a accessible unit at Haggerston Castle for my disabled sister who has physical and mental health problems. When I booked the accessible caravan I requested to caravan to be near the complex, and paid £685.00 for 1 week. When we arrived and were given our accomodation, I was disgusted. Our accomodatation was the furthest away from the complex in the Belfry Village. There were no pavements and the road had 17 spped bumps on it. The lighting was also very poor. When I complained I was told there was no other accessible unit available. We decided to try and stay in this accomodation for my sister, but the location of the caravan was to much for my sister in her wheelchair, and she ended up taking a epilectic fit on the Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning I went and told the site manager that I really needed moved and he said he couldnt move us. So in the end I had to cut the holiday short. My sister was devasted. I wrote to Head Office to complain and I am still awaiting a reply.

The standard of cleanliness in the privately rented caravan was poor to say the least. The matresses were not fit for a dogs bed, the whole caravan smelt like a soiled nappy and there was mould all over the walls. We reported a badly leaking kitchen roof and a faulty gas fire which took three days for anyone to come and repair. Everything on site is centred around Bourne Leasure making pots of cash. EVERYTHING costs a fortune! Even kids entertainment is all about selling cheap plastic rubbish at an extortionate price. The staff think nothing about getting the children all worked up about some peice of flashing junk then asking the kids to demand money off their parents. An afternoons stroll around the park came at a price also. £7 for half an hours boat ride or £15 for three kids and two adults to pedal a machine round the complex for half an hour! Even the bouncy castles and trampoline were £1:50 for ten munutes and when all three kids want to do the same activity the costs spiral out of control. I was so glad when the end of the week arrived. I shouldn't have spent any money on the ENTERTAINMENT passes either. The same staff doing the same old tired routines every single night with the occasional ageing X-Factor reject singing party songs your Granny uset to play an New Year. Highly UN-recommended!!!

VERY VERY expensive. We have two kids, 3 and 4 and on our 1st day decided to get a weeks pass for the entertainment complex. It cost £90!. What a disappointment. The so called complex is 95% fruit machines/arcade games or money machines. So basically you pay £90 to join the complex to basically spend MORE money once inside.
The place was also VERY overcrowded. They were only letting groups of people into the pool once every hour because it was so full. Not knowing this we got to the pool at about 14.35 and were refused admission and told to come back at 15.30.
Food VERY expensive at the pool bar. When you pay £30 for a meal you'd expect to get real mashed potato. When we questioned the mash we were told that the mash is made with mash pellets!
The night time entertainment was admittedly quite good for the kids. They sat crossed legged on the dance floor and watched the shows - they loved it. We could never get a seat because the place was so full. 5-10 minute queues at the bar in Carnaby's. 1 pint, 1/2 pint and 2 diluted orange drinks came to £6.
Another thing i noticed was the "DJ" in Carnaby's was constantly trying to sell things to the kids. "In the shop to your right, blah blah" "Gemma over there is selling some lovely balloons". The best way i can sum it up is this ... At around 7.45 they have a parade with a character from the show leading. Basically they "parade" around Carnaby's, but at the end of the "parade" the kids have their photo taken with the character. £5 to get a copy of the photo. All the parades end with this photo "opportunity". By the way Gemma charges £5 for a balloon. Add to this the bingo tickets they were constantly plugging.
Be warned families - take a lot of money if your going to be staying here.

I am surprised they don't have a "0" rating, as I would not have even given it a "1"
I have stayed on another Haven site in Cornwall, and you would have thought I would have learned my lesson wouldn't you? It seems nothing changes, and this site HAS to be the worst EVER. Our Silver rated caravan was disgusting, it stank of damp, and urine, the utensils were greasy and unwashed, the bedlinen was tatty, and full of holes,The windows were dirty, and the carpets more so, and when we complained, we were told there was nothing else available for us, which actually wasn't a lie, as the place was heaving, and we couldn't believe how many people Haven pack in to 1 caravan site. we queued for everything, for ages, and when we finally got served in the eating establishments, the food was not edible. We paid for a week's break, away from the hastles of work, and daily routines, but we just got rubbish accommodation, rubbish service, rubbish food, rubbish facilities, and a rubbish holiday. NEVER AGAIN HAVEN. NOT EVEN IF YOU PAID US!!!!

I didnt want to rate this park as 7, I would have liked it to be higher. Here are the negatives of my 5 day stay at Haggerston. We got to our caravan at 12;00, this being the plus of booking independently, and unpacked. We went to pay for our passes, the downside to booking independently is passes to the complex arent included. We were stunned to here the price was a shocking £91, and that is for you to get through the doors! That price for the ime we were there is a joke. We left the building in search for our dinner. We had a pleasent walk around the grounds looking for the chinese resteraunt everyone is raving about. Well i'm certaintly not happy with it! We got there thinking the prices were resonable, £6 children, £9 adults, this for the all you can eat buffet. Got inside, were asked to wait. The wait was to measure the height of my kids to determine whether they are children or not! I'm sorry, but my tall 8 yr old son was taller than the measuring stick, so he was deemed an adult! That was shocking! A money grabbing scheme in my opinion. Its fair to say we didnt go back their again. Yes there are lots of slot machines, which does get on your nerves. The positives! Now there are a lot of them, but the best the veiw from our caravan. WOW! We were at lakefeild, caravn no' 90, and the veiw was truly magnifecent. The pristine lake ws our true haven on those warm sunny days. We would gaze breathlessly as the swans swam majestically past our feet, the ducks in hot pursuit. It was wonderfull. The park is generally oversized, however, with the exception of a few fag ends littering the grass, it was clean and nice. I would reccomend the chinese up in Berwick for a great meal for tea, as they can deliver and the prices are fair. For great days out visit Chillingham castle, stop of at Wooler for a bag of chips, then make your way to seahouses and Bambrough for an exceptional day out. I woul recomend this park, it is nice and well situated, but be well prepared to folk out those twenty quid notes, you will need lots of them.

just got back (today). well reviews are right!!! we stayed for 2 nights. enjoyed it plenty to do but yes there are games machines everywhere. we spent a fortune as we found that there was little for our daughter to do (shes just turned 1). pool was lovely and warm and clean. 3 lifeguards were there when we went. play area was nice. not too far from berwick which was also lovely. shop was a little expensive but you expect that. cash machines were empty when we went to use them, so be prepared. caravan was clean and tidy just smelt of dogs so take some airfreshener. fish and chips were epensive for what you got but burger king was about the same as what u normally pay onlt a little more. would say there was loads of stuff for ages 3+ to do there is a spa aswell but its only for kids.

i really enjoyed staying at haggerston castle it was the cleanest haven we have stayed at ,our caravan was clean we booked a silver caravan did not go swimming but went to look at the pool after reading the reviews i went to see if it was warm enough(it was ) to take my 3 year old son and 7 month old daugther in the life guard was on the door and said that i quite wecome to test the temp of the water he also explained about the lack of changing space and how you could only go for an hour at a time at busy periods he was very helpful , we had all intentions to go but then we were out and about all of the days berwick is a nice town, alnwick is lovley ,northumberland is not normerly a place we would go for holiday but it made a nice change and would definatly go back. only went to the evening entertainment once for about 1 hour and only spent a couple hours in the arcade all week ,seen the ponies on site but my son was not botherd ,theres also a chinese restaurant on site did not go but looked nice,we would go back to this site and would also try the site at berwick upon tweed .

first time we had been to Northumberland, and Haggerston Castle seemed great when we read the brochure. A 5 star holiday park!
The park was clean and tidy, it was quiet on a night which was suprising! Plenty for the kids to do, and a huge park to roam and explore! The swimming pool was great, and the food take away facilities were good, and the shop on site was a great little shop, but rather expensive! The staff in the shop were lovely and helpful.
now the bad parts, and read carefully!!
The toilet block was dirty, even though we often saw the board out saying it was being cleaned!
The 'funworks' were full of slot machines that took your money for tickets, so the kids were hooked.
We had out bikes stolen when we went to the other side of the park to go to the 'playrama' area... and didnt get them back.
The activities, such as boating on the lake and hiring a bike was £8 for half an hour.
We had to queue to go in the swimming pool for 45 mins, because they had a system for busy periods, even though they had two pools?!
I dont usually complain about anything, but when your told your going paying for a 5 star camp site, and you get something that seems like a rough housing estate and you get your bikes stolen within 15 mins, i couldnt help but have a moan!
