" I took my family camping to this park... "

I took my family camping to this park in July. Myself my partner and two kids aged 7 and 12. We arrived after 6 therefore there was no welcome pack. We were told where the camping site was and to pitch our tent wherever we wanted.

The camping site is on the top of a cliff! There are no fences around the edge therefore I would say this is NOT a place for youngsters. The showers and toilets were filthy.

The evening entertainment I found very poor. It was difficult to find a seat, and as stated before it was very smokey.

We were in a storm on our second night and watched as people's tents flew over the cliff. We spent the most of the night in reception with all the other campers and were then charged £40 for a caravan for the next night. We were given a key to a caravan that was occupied, and then another to a caravan that was anything but clean.

There was no swimming on, no outside activities. The only things to do in the afternoon were a one hour dance tuition a pub and an amusement arcade.

Spent a lovely last day on the beach! But I could've took my kids a day trip for this experience.

I would not recommend this site at all we even had caravan owners begging for us to complain as they were so fed up with the site. It was boring dirty and we left a day early to get home.

If there was a minus option to score this holiday park i would have picked it!

" Opted for a gold caravan and was... "

Opted for a gold caravan and was happy with accommodation. It was clean and comfortable with good views of the sea. The entertainment club was ok and kept the kids entertained at night.

The swimming pool was lovely and warm although the floors and the changing cubicles needed a good clean. Most of the staff were pleasant and the entertainers were really good with the kids. Pictures with the animals (naughty Nev Bradley - who we did not see all week and the lady ) were expensive to have pictures with (.£6 a go) which is alright for 1 but when your kids see them everyday its hard to say no when they are excited.

Reighton sands is brilliant as a base when you have a car as it is surrounded by some lovely villages and towns like Flamborough head Scarborough and Filey and Brid but if you haven’t got a car there is a bus service which comes to the site everyday. Overall the site is a lot smaller than Primrose Valley but comfortable but would add that a week is definitely long enough.

" Well what can I say?! A fab holiday... "

Well what can I say?! A fab holiday for anyone going here!! I've been going for the past four years now and I absolutely love it! Me and the rest of my family go for a week and love it to bits. We spend the days visiting the different places around Yorkshire such as Scarborough, Bridlington, Robin-Hoods Bay, Whitby, Filey which is a peaceful and a lovely place to visit we also went to York for the day by train as well as Pickering where we visited Heartbeat etc.

The caravan we stayed in was meant to be a bronze caravan but when we got in it was actually a silver caravan and was well worth it for the room. There was 2 bedrooms one being a double and the other being a twin. Both also had separate bathrooms and heating in bedrooms. Everything was clean and tidy and very comfortable to stay in.

The shops, bars and arcade were of a good standard however the arcade could do with a few more games as not all were worth the money. We didn't really use the shop for anything but snacks and on one occasion a meal as we tended to eat out in Filey or Scarborough and ended up at the arcade later on at night.

If you are planning to go here you'll enjoy every moment. As I said before I have come to Reighton Sands about 4 times before and have not got bored of the fun atmosphere that Yorkshire has!

Well worth the money and a fun holiday for all!

" We arrived on Good Friday, 14th... "

We arrived on Good Friday, 14th April, having booked a Silver rated, 3 bed roomed caravan at a cost of £253 for 3 nights.

First of all the caravan stank heavily of stale cigarette smoke. This wasn't just smoke from the previous occupants, this smell was imbedded in the soft furnishings, curtains etc. It was so bad it made the back of your throat sore & even though we left the windows open as much as possible, the smell never went away.

The floors were dirty, (toe nails on the carpet), greasy & slippery on the kitchen floor.

We found a night dress on a bed, from a previous occupant.
We had to wash the dishes, cutlery & pans, (we wanted to use), as they were stained. The grill pan was full of dirty, dried bacon fat.

The toilet seat was broken,

Worst of all & most frightening was the veranda outside, which was wooden, covered in green slime, coming apart with lose, sticking out nails & very rickety.
We complained & asked to be moved, but we were told there wasn't anything vacant.

The cleaners came in whilst we were out & gave it a bit of a clean to make the caravan bearable. They also left us industrial odour removing spray & a bottle of wine!

We totally agree with a previous reviewer. The Club is very, very, very smoky. The brochure clearly states there are non smoking areas, but theses were full of smokers. The security guards kept asking people to stop smoking, but they were ignored! Staff told us it was nothing unusual & there was nothing they could do about it in reality. I'm a non smoker, but have smoked in the past. A bit of smoke doesn't bother me, but this was unbearable.

Kids were throwing chairs around outside at a caravan. An elderly man chased them into the club threatening to "sort their parents out", (who were drinking in the club)

There lots of different families on the site, but on the whole we likened the site to a run down council estate.

The staff could not be faulted. They were courteous & apologetic & tried their best to resolve problems.

We have been customers (& caravan owners) at Haven for many years & witnessed a huge decline in standards. We have finally decided we wouldn't holiday with them again if it was free!!

" If you want somewhere to camp, take... "

If you want somewhere to camp, take your caravan or awning that is inexpensive yet good value for money then Reighton might be a good choice. My son(14) and I went in the second week in August for 4 nights camping in a tent. We managed to book the pitch, which offers a very large sized tent that allows up to 8 people to stay for the same price.

Getting there is quite easy as it is off a trunk road(A165) in North Yorkshire and is within 10 minutes of Bridlington and 20 minutes of Scarborough. Slightly further at 50 minutes is the Theme park and zoo of Flamingoland which is a superb day out.

The facilities at this Haven/British holidays site are very clean and all seemed to be well maintained. The toilet and shower facilities for those who were camping where of a high standard and with an endless supply of hot water. Checking in was quick and easy and the staff seemed friendly. Although the amount of day-time entertainment is not at the level of a lively or super centre there are still plenty for the kids to do.

The evening entertainment was of an excellent standard although if you don’t like smoky rooms then you may not be overly keen but as a non-smoker myself it was bearable.

There is a reasonably priced shop for groceries and other bits and pieces, a bar/bistro and restaurant. Apart from the main entertainment area there is an amusement arcade and an indoor swimming pool.

You are able to get to the beach within a couple of minutes though there are steep cliffs near to the tent pitches. The views across to Filey are fantastic and if you manage to climb up to the top of Reighton hills you will not be disappointed.
Overall well worth a visit for very little money.

Have a good one.

Tony

" Reighton Sands is a clean well-kept... "

Reighton Sands is a clean well-kept holiday camp with plenty of entertainment for the kids and adults.

The swimming pool is lovely and warm and is kept clean and tidy. The changing facilities at the pool are a little limited, can be a bit of a problem, especially when it gets busy.

The entertainment was spot on for our children ( aged 6 and 3).They loved all the characters and enjoyed the acts in the evening. The only thing I have to really complain about is the on-site bar/restaurant Finigans. We had to wait over an hour for a family meal one night ( with 2 small children it’s a nightmare) and they got our order wrong. The staff there don’t seem to have much idea of customer service.

If you’re going to eat out, go to Scarborough ( 20 minutes away).Much more choice and it’ll be quicker. <br
