Good site.
Safe for family - large enclosure in the middle for any sized tent, away from the clifs
entertainment geared towards children and families.
free basic (shallow) pool and great beach
but.. No icepack facility for campers.. big, huge minus
I was going to give this site 8 out of 10, because we had a good time, although it gets a 6 due to the very real danger of food poisoning from the lack of basic health and safety freezing facility. When asked at reception why there is no freezer pack facility, I got the reply "health and safety". This beggars belief! How can you not provide a facility to prevent food poisoning and worse by not providing a freezing facility for ice packs. Wrong, unacceptable! You have been warned.
6 out of 10

My family and I have been to Reighton Sands twice . Both times on a short break via the Sun news paper deal . The static caravans we had were clean and well presented with plenty of room for our three boys . The outsde areas was also well kept . As mentioned several times in other posts the very steep walk down to the beach is worth it as the beach is very clean . But the 350 metre trex up the hill may be too much for less able out there . The location of the site just a few miles from Filey is a good base to go off and visit places like York and Whitby and the rest of what Yorkshire has to offer .
Entertainment passes .
On our first visit I paid around £7 each for the passes but didn't really use them as we tended to be out all day site seeing , as mentioned , and by the time we got back it was tea time / a bit of telly / then bed . Our second visit I didnt pay for the passes but on checking in at the reception was given " free " passes . I think they know your going in to the FUNWORKS to spend your money as the passes were free . We tried the fish and chip shop on site and to be honest it's better to make the effort to go into Filey which is only a few miles away . Your'll get a better choice and it will be save you ££ as it's not the cheapest or the best chippy .
On site shop may not be the cheapest place to do a weekly shop so do your shopping before hand . That said , the shop does have a good selection of every day stuff if you do run out of anything .
I read on someone else's review that it's £700 + a week in high seasson which I could not see how they could justify . Hope this helps and you enjoy your holiday .
- Advice: Worth a visit . We would go again for a third time .

After reading the reviews I was slightly worried from some of the comments but we didn't camp, we hired a static caravan for 2 nights 22/10/10. We loved it... there were 5 girls late 20s and we had such a laugh. We went into the funworks centre on the saturday and they have a lovely bar where you can get nice food, cheap drinks - a bottle of white wine was £7.95 which was suprising as we expected it to be more expensive with it being a Haven site. The bus stop is directly on site taking you to Scarborough - however, one thing I would suggest is getting a taxi may work out cheaper - £7 each for a return ticket which we found horrendous. A taxi would cost under £20 and would take half the time (20 mins) - we were overall pleased with the site, they have a swimming pool inside the centre but we didn't go to this but it looked clean and wasn't busy! they have an amusement arcade and we laughed so much - it was a top laugh. We went to the bingo night on the saturday which was tacky as anything but so much fun!! It was a lovely site, the beach you are able to see from where you are - would be fab in summer! Hope this helps.

I booked before reading the reviews and was really not looking forward to going....I was proved WRONG!! we had a great time. We stayed in a tent and io was happy with the facilities. The people were really friendly. We went into the Funworks centre on the second night and ended up staying for the entertainment. It was fab I was in hysterics!!!. We did not use the swimming pool as we were off all around scarborough for our stay, however I did read the price list and was really suprized at how reasonable the prices were. The beach is beautiful!!. As for desabled access, I bumped into my friend!! who was with her work (mencap) and she said her service users had had a great time and the staff were more than happy to get the 4x4 buggies out and take them to and from the beach. She said her service users loved the place so much it was hr 4th trip there this year!!!. This place is wonderful and far exceeded my expectations

we went to this site camping over the aug bank holiday wkend was meant to stop till wed we got there sat and left on the sun has the wind was horrible some of the tents where broken and things where bein blown out of the tents we sat in the tent on the sat and watched as the wind blew the tent up of the floor after lookin round the tent and the tent pegs had started to be pulled out we decided to leave, the kids where frightened and thought we was gonna end up being blown over the cliff, we did complain to the staff about this and all they said that they would give us 2 nights again before the end of oct well if we got blew away in aug we will still get blew away in oct, they said we could have 2 nights of a 3 nights stay in a caravan but to be honest the site wasnt even worth going back to was very small for the amount of people on the site and half the games in the arcade was broken, the best times we had was when we left the site to go into bridlington and scarborough, i did write a complaint to havens main office and have received a letter saying they was looking into the complant and have to now wait till end of this month like others that have said the staff will say that they have had no problems and no one went home has we saw most of the field had packed up one good thing we managed to bring a tent home in one piece

we went camping to reighton at the bank holiday weekend for 4 nights, however we only stayed for 3. The wind was horrendous as the main tent field is high up and open with no shelter from the wind. Nearly eveybody was gone by the sunday evening as a large number of tents were destroyed by the wind, after speaking to people we have since found out this is a regular occurence here although the site do hide this fact, which would explain why they had every member of staff early monday morning clearing every bit of damaged tent away so as to hide the evidence from those coming that day. 1 other problem for us was that the main tent field has a fence all the way around so you cant take cars on which means you have to lug everything across the field, obviously not a problem if you can get right at the edge, but not always possible. The toilets could also have done with being cleaned more often. So needless to say i will NEVER be returning here.

I'd already booked a 3 night stay before I read the reviews on this website and began to think I'd made a mistake. However, we all enjoyed our stay - the park was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I am a very difficult person to please as I am extremely fussy but had nothing to really complain about - the only thing that irritated me was that each time I visited the Spar I was asked if I was interested in this, that and the other for £1.00. I almost asked if I could have 2 bottles of milk for £1.00 as that was all I'd gone to the shop for. My family have all said they enjoyed Reighton Sands.

Maybe this type of holiday is not for me, this being the first caravan experience. The location is nice enough but I couldn't spend any more than a weekend here.
The caravan was fairly clean, but the oven was useless, one of the mattresses had to be replaced and the noise from our neighboring caravan was unbearable at 12:30am the first night. Security did sort it out after several attempts to get through on the mobile number provided, but it wasn't a good start to our weekend after a 5 hour drive down from Central Scotland.
The kids had a fairly good time at the beach but if you're not fit, you'll struggle to get back up the very steep hill. There is NO LONGER A TRACTOR SERVICE as mentioned in another review, so if you can’t manage back up the hill, you're at the mercy of those annoying black fly things! I think more bins at the beach would reduce the amount of rubbish there too.
The kids went to the pool but said it was disgusting, so only spent 10 minutes there all weekend. The only other thing they seemed to do was waste money on those tickets you get, but need a million of to get a decent prize.
The on site Spar is well stocked, but always had a huge queue. Good if there's something you've forgotten to bring.
The evening entertainment would be good for young kids. The entertainers did try to get the kids involved in what they were doing quite a lot.
We also visited Scarborough, which is nice, if a bit tacky down by the seafront, but is worth a visit. We drove as bus to Scarborough was £7 return per adult and £3.50 per child, which is a bit of a rip off as it would have cost us £35 for 3 adults and 4 kids to go about 10 miles and back on a bus!

We just returned from a weekend camping at Reighton Sands Haven site with our 3 children (5,8 & 10).
The camp site was shockingly full- details stated you should leave 7m min between tents, but this was impossible due to the numbers of campers. No room for the kids to play...we had an awful family next to us who were in bed at 9pm and complaining loudly about 'all the noise' all night long!
The pool was disappointing- very shallow (1.1m deepest) and despite the glorious sunshine, the waterslide was shut! (waterslide started outside & finished inside)
The onsite shop had very little real food (full of high sugar junk)and the new cafe had limited meals available.
The younger children loved the playpark, and that wasn't too full when we went to it.
The toilets were a little crowded and the showers not the cleanest (though I have seen worse) on a plus side there were plenty of hairdriers.
Showers closed from 8pm.
campsite on a hill so we rolled a bit in the night!
Views over cliffs were beautiful, beach was okay but very high tides so mornings best for going on beach- sand quite muddy but nice rocky walk if you like that.
Entertainment in the evening very typical of Haven- usual kids disco lasting a few minutes then chatting to them on stage with a few little games for prizes. Bingo available in the evenings then a later disco.
We enjoyed oursleves- and we love camping- but won't visit this site again. It was one of the most crowded facilities we have seen, and even by Havens standards the amenities were rather poor. However it was exceptionally cheap at £5 per night so can't complain and we had a great fun time cooking outdoors with the childre, nice walk along the beach, lovely meal out and day at Eden Camp. Forget the facilities- use it as a cheap base to see the beauty in the surrounding area!

The Tractor Train which has run for over 40 years has been withdrawn by the Management this year. This effectively means that if you are very fit you can get to the beach, the majority of people however, including those with pushchairs, will not be able to manage the very steep 'cardiac hill'. The Management have no intention, it seems, of reinstating the service and the majority of people wishing to visit the beach have to go off site to Bridlington or Filey - SO MUCH FOR REIGHTON SANDS!!! They are also contravening their own marketing which still says there is a Tractor Train down to the beach! If you want a good beach, which you can actually reach, go elsewhere!!

When we arrived there was issues with our caravan. We went to reception to report the broken shower, cup rings on the furniture, mud on the carpet, dirt in the pans etc and we were treated awfully.
I asked to see the general manager and he (Peter Tuck) was even ruder than the staff.
Good management does not mean shrugging your shoulders and saying what do you expect.
Well Reighton Sands when we and others do not return...what do YOU expect!!
Never again!
