We have just returned from a brilliant week at primrose valley. The caravan was great for standered we expected it to be worse after reading a lot of the reviews. The staff were friendly and helpful. The campsite was clean. The only bad thing was the food in the fish and chip shop we took one look at the food and walked back out again it looked like it had been there for a few days.My kids loved the swimming pool. were looking forward to going back next year

We have just returned from a week at Primrose Valley. We stayed in a Prestige caravan which was situated in Lake View a quiet cul-de-sac. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main complex and a good 15-20 minute walk to the beach. Lake View is quite close to the funfair, tennis courts etc and I would think during peak season it could get noisy in the evening, but I'm pleased to say the park was fairly quiet. My only minor complaint would be that the swimming pool was alittle on the cool side for my 16 months old little boy, but they have lots of fun activities in the pool area to keep them entertained.
The weather has been great and we've visited, Playdale Farm Park, Sealife Centre, Filey Bird and Animal Centre and spent days on the beach. All in all had a great time and would definitely visit the site again.

We booked superior plus and the caravan we got was nothing short of disgusting and was a fair way from the entertainment complex. We complained and were moved. The second one was a little better but not worth the money we paid. There were people who paid less in better caravans and locations. We usually stay at Hafan Ye Mor and have never had a problem there, we always get what we pay for!! The security staff in the funworks complex namely Steven Walker, were extremely rude. I was stopped and my bags searched FIVE times during my stay. I complained after the first time as i was stopped for taking in crisps for my children and was given no choice but to throw them in the bin. There is a sign clearly stating no food or drink in the complex yet people were taking in burger king, pizzas, fish and chips amongst other items and they were allowed. It is either one way or the other. If you allow the above items then they should be listed on the sign and untill they are no food or drink means exactly that and stop making your own rules up as you go along.I found it was more of a 'if your face fits' set up as far as the security staff went. As i had complained and demanded a public apology from Steven Walker i was then targeted by him and other security staff everytime i entered the complex. I found this treatment unfair as it was no longer a 'random' check as i was constantly being told, it was harrasment!! My holiday was spoilt, had it have not been for my children and upsetting them we would have returned home.
The security staff should concentrate their efforts on doing their job and actually securing the main gates to prevent unwanted people entering not complaining over a few bags of crisps. I found the fact that no one being checked at the gates and the entrances to the site were open to everyone very un-nerving. I have four young children and the thought that there could have been un welcome guests roaming around the park terrified me. Primrose Valley is a poorly managed and maintained park and as it is meant to be a FIVE STAR flagship site, the management and it's staff should hang their heads in shame.
I also checked the paperwork that was in the caravan i stayed in. Now, bearing in mind i stayed in AUGUST 2008, the gas and electric service certificate clearly states that the last check was carried out in DECEMBER 2006. What happened to the check that should have been carried out in 2007???? The list of complaints i had about the service i received and the park and caravans goes on. I will not be staying at this site again and i am currently compiling lengthly letters of complaint including pictures to be sent to the relevent parties.!!!!

well what can i say this park was kept immaculate, the staff when we spoke to them were lovely, there was activities for all ages throughout the day we have a five year old and she loved it.
the funstars get all the children involved in the jesters bar which is children orientated with the zoo troop and professor schloops show.
the only complaint i have is we paid for the haven park passes which cost £82.00 and the funfair on site was not included on the passes the rides cost £2.00 and above and also the synthetic ice rink was £4.00 for 30mins which when you go to an haven park whether private or not everything should be covered on the park passes if you go to any butlins park everything is included.
but apart from that we all had a really good time and will more than likely return.

Aug 2008, Ms Fedup

If this is a Flagship park I would hate to see the rest. Web info says flat it is anything but floods when it rains closely packed caravans on unmade roads. I booked a disabled accessible caravan that had a 4-5 inch step into the caravan queried it with reception and was told tough. Caravan was prestiege standard and only a year old but very well used the grill did not work we were promised a toaster it never arrived tv picture was appaling sink taps hanging off in the end got fed up with asking them to fix things and gave up. We never got the toaster or the taps fixed. BUt the worst for us has to be the inaccessability of the site my daughter uses a power chair not a manual and it doesnt like climbing kerbs. There is a distinct lack of them. Disabled access to the pool was through a door which was consistently locked parts of complex was not accessible. The play park was not accessible so my daughter could not go with her brothers as she can at other sites. we were constanly woke up at 8am by one workman or another. The site was untidy and run down away from the main road in and complex. In all would never go back will not book Haven again and I am glad to be back home and not wallowing in MUD!

Aug 2008, Miss E Kitchen

We have just returned from Primrose Valley and doubt we will ever return again. We booked superior plus as we are a family of 8 and thts the best caravan for 8 ppl. However the caravan was cold damp and full of mildew. The shower was full of it the curtains were full of it even the walls had mildew on.
We complained about the dirty curtains and they were taken down but we were left without for a night, meaning my 2 girls had to sleep on full view to passers by. When i complained (again) the following morning i was told i would get them back. However when they were replaced they were still warm as they had only just been dried.
I hated my 10 wk old baby having to sleep in such filth and squaler especially due to the fact the price they charge. i have complained to haven but as yet have had no response.

We have just returned from a weeks...

We have just returned from a weeks holiday from Primrose valley and really enjoyed our stay, here is our review!
We checked in at 16.00 the qeues were quickly delt with, but we were sent to a wrong caravan by staff, you get a map with your key and the staff draw a ink line on the map to where your caravan is, so we found the caravan and could not get into it, so we rang reception who told us we were in the wrong place, but oh no we wernt according to our map we were in the right place! it was a case of somebody giving us a wrong map, so please check your key with your map!!
After being sent to the right caravan we were in a pleasent cul-de-sac with a concrere road and tarmac hardstanding for our car, the superior caravan was clean and tidy and well suited to our requirements, we found no quilts for our kids so again another phone call to reception who sent a van round with the desired quilts, the guy even gave us extra pillows which was nice as the pillows are a tad thin!
parts of the camp are very muddy and chalky and as we had a fair bit of rain it was wet under foot, so if you can get a superior caravan it worth the extra money.
We were 5 mins from the main complex which was'nt to bad, but the camp is massive so i think its pot luck where you get billeted. The main camp shop is very reasonable in fact it was cheaper to buy food in the camp shop than go into filey, so dont be afraid to use the shop, the staff are extremly freindly and polite.
The camp is extremly clean and every day staff are out cleaning up around the camp, one word of advice, put your rubbish in the bins located on your map, i say this as if you leave rubbish in bin bags outside your caravan the ravens and seaguls rip em to pieces and cascade rubbish all over the place, our nieghbours did this on a couple of occasions and the birds go mad!! thankfully camp staff soon clean up the mess!
The entertainment on the site is in two showbars Jesters and the 'showbar' both venues are large and the bar prices are very reasonable i paid a fiver for two pints of beer, now in Norfolk i can pay up to 3 quid a pint, so i was impressed!! the bar staff were freindly and helpfull.
The entertainment was the only thing that lets this place down the 'funstars' everynight do 'party dances' which are fast paced dances Lou and Emma were stunning at it, but its the same every night so it can be a tad tedious, esp as once they have finished in one bar they go and do the same in the next bar, dont get me wrong im not complaining but i feel sorry for the guys and girls as not only do they have to do 'party dances' but they also have to do a disco tribute one night but an 'in the mix' act the next (which is awfull) this is on top of doing the 'party dances' we only saw two different acts during the whole week, so please give these poor guys a break!! one compare in Jesters bar shouts down the mic and talks very quickly so its hard to understand what he says so be prepared for this as you may look around at people and say 'wad he say'
The swimming pool is brilliant loads of things for the kids to play on, the water is warm and the changing rooms are warm and clean, but for really little ones all the water jets etc may scare them as my four year old did, but my eight year old loved it!!
the security on site is first class, the guys are freindly and polite, they also patrol the bars so you feel quite safe.
there are a few places to eat, there is a fish a chip shop a Burger King and a starbucks so there no need to go hungry, again prices are the same in any town.
there is a bus service direct from the camp to Scarborough and Bridlington (service 120) but the trip to Scarborough goes round the houses and takes a while!! we have a car so we only used the bus once, but the service is very good.
There is no direct access to the beach so there is a bit of a treck down to the beach, there are some stunning views from the cliffs at the camp site.
On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed our stay the staff were fantastic, the funstars are overworked and prob underpaid but please give them a break and put on some different acts at night.
I would have given the holiday 10/10 but due to the same ol - same ol entertaiment everynight with the same people it became tedius, we definatly will return again as this is the best Haven site we have stayed at so far!!!

We spent 7 nights in a prestige, 3 bed caravan in Birch Court at the beginning of August. We had upgraded and this turned out to be a great idea. We hired a travel cot which went nicely in one bedroom after a little bit of rearranging but had to go to the hire shop to pick in and the high chair up as they were not in the caravan upon arrival. Birch Court was a lovely quiet part of the park but quite a walk with young children to the entertainment complex so we chose to drive most of the time.
Overall, the park is very well kept, is clean and tidy with litter pickers every morning and the grass well attended to. You could see that they take pride in the appearance of the park.
The check in was painless outside Papa Johns pizza place.
Jesters was our venue of choice in the evening but this was an interesting experience. The evening kicks off at 6pm but arriving any later than 6.15pm meant no seat. A real problem which meant rushing dinner to get to Jesters every night. Not a problem, but every night it was packed. Drinks were reasonably priced and some queing at the bar, but if you go when bingo is on you'll get served quickly.
The Haven format is tried and tested I suppose, the Funstars are great as are the characters. The music was unnecessrily loud I thought which kept waking our baby up when a Funstar used the mic.
The pools were very good although tended to be much busier in the mornings.
Burger King was poor and expensive, the chinese restaurant slightly dissapointing. Mash and Barrel was OK.
Generally, a good park, lots to do and I'd go back. Comparing it to Haggerston Castle which we went to in June, Primrose Valley was much better. We've done the Haven thing now and will move onto something else.

Jul 2008, Mr Lee Pollard

Just got back over the weekend from Primrose Valley. And what a dissappointment it was.
Staff were rude and unhelpful
Security were ignorant and acted like bullies
Caravans were dirty
Roads to caravans were just mud and cheap gravel.
The clubs entertainment consisted of singers nearly every night for 2 weeks.
When we started our second week on the monday my mum & dads caravan got a knock on the door when they where having breakfast to tell them that they had to move caravans as the plot had been sold and had an hour to pack. They had no help from the staff and got no compensation for the trouble, when I asked about some gifts or something the manager said that they did'nt have to move but when he first came round he never mentioned they could stay.
Plus My parents caravan had a leaky roof which was rotten.
Will never go there again RIP OFF

my family and i loved our holiday and have only just returned our 4 boys had a great time and so did the granparents, the caravan was beautiful at lake view with even a freezer which was not expected, central heating and great living space and parking, also close to the football pitch which was excellent.
on arrival we were giving a caravan at laurel rise next to the club but found the noise from club which ran late keeping my youngest and myself awake. On sunday morning i was at the reception asking if we could get another caravan away from the club and Debs was fantastic in dealing with my request and told us another was available on monday so stayed one more night and debs phoned to tell us the other caravan was ready and we moved and got extra pillows on request and quilts the service i recieved was second to none, the staff was friendly and happy to please, can,t thank debs enough and it made the holiday getting some sleep.
The site is fantastic and yes its design to pass through the money machines to get wherever you need to go but so are most holiday places the staff work long hours for little pay and the last face at night in the club is usually the one you see in the morning entertaining the kids they don,t have days offs they just work and some people should realise that before complaining, they don,t get tips or thankyous just rude people expecting everything for nothing.

Firstly the site, Very clean and tidy, where i stayed was very quiet. Im not sure where those people who gave bad reviews stayed but i found the park to be in very good order and well kept. As for facilities, these too were very good. The shop was overpriced but that is to be expected, it wasn't too expensive though. The site is in a fantastic position, halfway between Bridlington and Scarborough and only a few minutes drive from Filey (where there are better, well known shops)
The caravan i stayed in was advertised on ebay and privately owned, as this means it doesnt reflect the holiday park i wont go into detail about the caravan (although it was nice and there were no problems)
The park felt very safe and i often went to the shop late at night and saw only families coming back from a night out. The whole park seemed very familiy orientated and i didnt once see groups of teenagers or hear loud music at night. The only problem i could see is if you stay next to the shops / road, it may get a little noisy when the entertainment complex closes and people are walking back to their caravans.
There is a beach next to the park (and there were a number of caravans to let which had sea views) and i would say its approx 20 mins walk to the beach (unless you are good at climbing and go down the fairly steep hill it would then take you less than 5 mins.
Overall i would definately recommend this park and its a fantastic place to stay, just make sure you know the condition of the caravan and i recommend looking on ebay for owners who are letting out there caravans
