First holiday in two years, I was sold on Presthaven Sands by their website. In honesty, looked at reviews for the site beforehand, but I've used Haven before and honestly thought I'd give them the chance. We booked in for a two week holiday, got the keys and welcome pack,... more

I took my partner (70, daughter (42) and 4 grandchildren ranging from 16 to 12 for a week at the end of July. We also took our dogs which was one of the reasons for choosing a Haven holiday. The kids absolutely loved the range of activities, the dogs and the adults loved... more

Better than expected!
Myself and my boyfriend stayed at Presthaven Sands for a 4-night break from 29th Sept - 3rd Oct 2008. We booked the holiday online through the Haven website which was simple and efficient. We arrived at the site at around 11.30am on our first day and having booked a Prestige caravan we were able to check-in at 2.30pm. We took the opportunity to have some lunch in Burger King, which was lovely and fresh considering there weren't many customers at the time. We then had a look at the entertainment complex and took a drive around the grounds. We entered reception at exactly 2.30pm and were checked in straight away. The polite and friendly lady staff member fetched our key and welcome pack, and gave us a map of the site with our caravan highlighted so it was easy to find. We had been placed in Snowdonia Court, which is a lovely quiet area away from the main complex. Upon arrival we discovered we were staying in a platinum caravan - we had been upgraded for free. The caravan was beautiful – free-standing sofas and armchair, flatscreen TV and DVD player, electric fire and much more. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and the linen was clean and fresh. There was lots of storage, everything was clean and the caravan felt safe and secure. We bought our essentials for the week from the onsite mini-market, which is slightly overpriced but we expected that – you are paying for the convenience. During our stay we had two meals at the Mash and Barrel, both of which were lovely. We did have to ask for a cloth on our first visit as the table was slightly sticky, however there were no further problems – the food was very nice, the staff were pleasant and the prices were reasonable. Being a young couple with no children, we didn’t really care for the entertainment aspect of the holiday, so we only visited the Dunes club once. The drinks were not too overpriced and the children seemed to be enjoying the entertainment. The only problem we encountered during our holiday was the weather, which we can hardly blame on the holiday park! However we do feel that the drainage system on the site should be much more efficient – we drove through several floods around the site after some very heavy rain, some of which looked to be ruining the grass and plants around the caravans. We also had to buy some earplugs in order to sleep through the wind and rain, but there was nothing the staff could do about that!!! Overall we had a very pleasant holiday and will definitely be booking again. I think it helped that we stayed out of the peak season, which we have the freedom to do as we don’t have children. I feel that we wouldn’t have enjoyed the holiday as much if it had been the height of the summer holidays and the park had been overflowing. Thank you to all the staff at Presthaven Sands for making our holiday so enjoyable!!!
Presthaven Sands was a winner after all!
Presthaven Sands, Haven Holidays, Prestatyn Just came home today from a week in Presthaven Sands & can honestly say that before we went, having read the views we almost didn't go! However I am so glad that we did. It was a lovely week, Beautiful clean caravan, comfy beds, well maintained clean beautiful beach, fantastic scenery, well managed site & friendly staff all round a thoroughly relaxing holiday! There was some trouble from one group of people in a caravan (That we didn't even hear) the security came around to all the caravans anyway to make sure that nobody had been disturbed too much & to let us know that said group had been evicted from site which made us feel safe. The entertainment is very 'kiddy orientated' but truthfully what do you expect, its a holiday company which caters for the masses of small children who need to be kept entertained! we spend our holidays making our own entertainment as a family so don't really go in for the whole night entertainment or else yes you do get ripped off on drinks etc. Only downsides at all were the cheaper one of the 2 arcades (5p machines instead of 10p) was closed for most of the time & the chip shop on site was shockingly disgusting (although states traditional, I'm fairly certain that they must have bought in cheap frozen chips!) in saying that we couldn't get cross as even the chip shop staff were friendly & chatty. Our dog was welcome on the beach which for us is a must & 2 teenagers thoroughly happy. All round winner & I am sorry for doubting them! We would definately return at a later date.
