Presthaven Sands Holiday Park reviews

Sun Holiday
9 / 10
May 2012, Heather F

The caravan was no more and no less than expected but didn't spend to long in it as our granddaughter was keeping us busy. Kids entertainment in the evening was very good and the beer prices were cheaper than expected. Had a nice meal in the Mash and Barrel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty for the kids to do in the day ie swimming in the two pools, kids park, bikes for hire. Beach very close and clean. Enjoyed so much we have booked again for next year.

We came back from presthaven yesterday after a 4 day sun holiday. i was really worried after reading the reviews but how wrong these bad reviews are. The caravan was imaculate the first tome i have arrived at my caravan and didnt have to clean first. thers is loads to do on site we didnt leave once. the site has direct beach access we just had to walk over a sand dune from our caravan and we was there. the night time entertainment was brill for the kids and the drinks in the show bar are not as expensive as some people have made out. i really cant fault the holiday we had a super time and will definately go back.

we had a lovely week here on october the 17 2011 until 21st the weather wasnt that great the caravan was spotless and were giving a larger one than booked the living room was warm with the gas fire on but the bedrooms were freezing. the daytime activities for our children was great and so was the evening entertainment they were all made welcome to the clubs and loved the characters and loved the swimming pool too we would definitely recommend this to other families with young children we couldnt fault anything

myself and my family stayed at presthaven sands holiday centre in north wales ,,,,
what can i say it was a dive the food was disgusting the pool was filthy the changing rooms smelt of urine every thing in the booklet was just bull the fair rides last all of about 2 mins a ride the caravans are filthy the place is a mudpit ,,the beach is about 10 feet of stones and mud and about 2 miles of sludge there is nothing to do with the family unless you have a second morgage to pay for it all the entertainment was hidious the beer was watered down at £3.50 a pint and they served alcohol to my 16 year old daughter ,this holiday was a joke there are no iron or ironing board the shower was full of mold the floor was sticky we also hired a baby cot that i would not let my dog sleep in and you have to leave it i the living quarters because the bedrooms were about 6ft x 6ft and that was the main double rooms so because i didnt want my granson to sleep on his own in the living room i had to sleep on the pull out bed which was also covered in stains and god only knows what else. i wont be going to haven again i would rather go to pontins and take my chances and the aftersales team were just out of highschool i think and complaining was just a waste of time i do not recomend this holiday company to anybody and i will be going elsewhere in future
i recieved a letter off haven making excuses and basiclly saying sod off

Will Avoid Haven After This One

First holiday in two years, I was sold on Presthaven Sands by their website. In honesty, looked at reviews for the site beforehand, but I've used Haven before and honestly thought I'd give them the chance.
We booked in for a two week holiday, got the keys and welcome pack, were even told where our caravan was, Conwy 3, I think. The accomodation was their superior standard, and was in a clean, but not immaculate state. In honesty, we weren't expecting much more.
What really got me was the lack of entertainment, Haven had oversold the amount of on site entertainment, even on their website it claims to be an 'all action park', I'd disagree strongly with this statement. We were sold the holiday by Haven as all activities being included, they weren't. We had to pay £30 or something for six 'one time passes' and we had to use four on the crazy golf, even though our youngest Son, aged 19 months, didn't play!
The staff in the entertainment complex decided day by day what time to open the entertainment complex, and it must've depended how many people were sat around waiting to get inside. (The restaurant is inside the complex and we had to wait until almost 10am to get in, even though it was supposed to open at 9am, on a Thursday)
As with other Haven sites, food and consumables are overpriced, definately at Presthaven Sands, this is down to the locality of the park, it is around three miles from Prestatyn and six or seven miles from Rhyl. In the shops defence, it does provide 'special offers' but they don't offer value for money to those who've spent almost £1000 a week on the caravan. Four pints of milk was priced in excess of £2, six sausages at around the £2 mark, ready made two-slice sandwiches at around £3, unbranded cereal well over £2, but the weirdest price was £6 for a melamime mug with the word 'Mum' on it. Fish and chips from the chip shop wasn't much cop either, to feed two adults and two children, aged 6 and 2, it cost us £19 and we had to fill ourselves up an hour later with some tuna and pasta.
To the defence of the park, the staff did try to put on a great show most evenings for the children, prices in the main bar were acceptable, though we were constantly bombarded with people selling shots for £1 and raffle tickets.
The site was generally clean but not very well maintained. The main car park near the chip shop was in clear need of maintainence, the part of the complex to the left of the shop was stuck in some kind of time warp, in 1985. Haven claim to have spent £55m in revamping their parks this year, all this park received was a 'lazy river' that only opened with high demand and wasn't worth it anyway.
A final point to make, my worst experience was in trying to hire one of their pedal buggies, (a two seater being £8 plus £10 deposit and the four seater being £12 plus £10 deposit) Great, I thought, until the kind man behind the counter announced it was for a 30 minute rental, no wonder I only saw somebody on one once, in the space of two weeks.

we paid for a superior caravan. we got a smaller one the staff would not concede, they think i cannot see the difference.the brochure shows a large caravan. 6 of us in the caravan we got, was too cramped .it is rowdy, swearing everywhere if you want to go and show your football colours and have people chanting all the time great .the evening entertainment is lame, mainly bingo and the large sreen football screened in the carousel bar ,the mash and barrel too .the atmosphere is tense. kids running riot at all hours. the main tune to sing is oggy, oggy, oggy it was dreadful.i could go on i hope you get the message. on the last night some violent incedent happened the area was sealed off.a man of other football persuasion shouting at a young boy up on the stage, because he never had the same team shirt on. it was disgusting to see. when asked who done it he held his hand up proud.a chav;s paradise

I've been to presthaven many years since I was a baby, but hadn't been for couple years I read a couple of reviews and was weary of the way it had gone.. we arrived early sat and waited to check in gywdir area we were. Caravan we booked was 1 grade up from basic opened the door and it was gorgeous really lovely caravan heating throughout caravan which came in handy as was cold at nightimes. Beds were made and it was very clean, as it always is. Couldn't fault caravan, was near the beach too had about a 5 min walk to the main complex which I didn't mind as burned some calories :) the swimming pool was open every day all pools were open on my stay here, changing rooms did get muddy floors but that was due to people not taking footwear off on entering so what would u expect. We ate out and had takeaway chip shop was clean and hot food bit dearer than chip ships at home but what would u expect on a hol camp, papa johns was delicious couldn't fault anything. Burger king was good and same price as home. We went into mash and barrel once 50pound I paid for 4non alcoholic drinks and 4 main meals no puddings or sides I thought that was a bit expensive but I had saved for it. We got shopping for week at Asda in rhyl there us an Iceland and morrisons aswell in that area its much cheaper shopping off camp. We went to the spar in camp for paper and chocolate etc and there was one young lad who was very polite and cheery and a joy to be served by. Didn't go to the clubs in evening as always foumd something else to entertain ourselves, we went to bingo couple times was bit of a rip off in that respect a line on every page and house on the very last page but had fun. The showbar was far to hot to sit in all night.the beach was lovely and long had a lot of fun there. Went to rhyl, llandudno, colwyn bay while we stayed here and was lovely days out. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful on camp. Had a thoroughly good holiday weather was sunny every day I really couldn't fault it and a holiday is what u make it and there is plenty of things to keep entertained on this camp.. was sad to leave :( we shall defo book here again soon.

Just returned from a week in Presthaven Sands, stayed in a standard caravan which was spotlessly clean (I was worried it was going to be filthy dirty after reading some of the reviews on here) The site was also clean. The staff were friendly. Took my dog, this park is very dog friendly. Would definitely recommend this park and will definitely be visiting again.

cant believe what im reading.Bin going Presthaven on and off for past 17yrs wonderful place. agree with prices on camp to expensive. so dont buy on site. if want fish and chips go 2 KARLS down by the station in prestatyn if u eat in they cooked as u order them. still cheaper than on camp cant comment on evening entertainment. as 4 the beach u wont find a better one i have always booked with haven until last year and booked private. we ended up next 2 railway line but after first day we never noticed the trains and no they dont run all night. never had a problem with staff and if they r snappy think of the people they have 2 deal with. and as 4 some people saying they going 2 pontins, o god i tried that had a sun holiday there NEVER again. now that is a dirty nasty place, only one name 4 it COLDITZ.

I took my partner (70, daughter (42) and 4 grandchildren ranging from 16 to 12 for a week at the end of July. We also took our dogs which was one of the reasons for choosing a Haven holiday.
The kids absolutely loved the range of activities, the dogs and the adults loved the beach and the nature areas for long peaceful walks and we all loved the Mash and Barrel food which I thought was very reasonably priced.
There was so much for the kids to do and although the accommodation was basic, it was clean and everything worked.
If you want an all in one place holiday, you couldn't choose better. There was no need to leave the site at all.

i went to presthaven sands the first week in july. The site is massive, loads of caravans in different areas.I stayed in a two bed superior caravan on beaumont 3 area.I was put next to the train line, but it hardly came past, and when it did it was quiet,so unless ur the boring type and stay in all holiday then u wont hear it.The complex was very clean, litter pickers around every day.The caravan wasnt as big as i thought it would be,i had two young children and my husabnd with me,because we had a pram and car seat,it didnt leave us much room to move around.so if you do have children id go for the bigger caravan.the caravan wasnt spotless but it was clean enough,it doesnt matter where you stay, caravans arent like palaces so just put up with it or give it a clean ur self.the entertainment was good enough for the kids, funny and acting saft, kids were cheering and having a good time.the only problem with the showbar was its too hot, they keep all the doors shut and make you bake to the point where you feel sick, then one bloke had a go and the door men started to open them which was a relief, but apart from that,i cant complain.the arcade was great if you like that sort of thing, especially the kids.there is always bingo every night in the carosel bar,its a lot cooler in there,so if u dont like kids or fun entertainment then sit in there with the older generation, its also got air conditioning.the swimming pool was great, the kids pool was really warm, and shallow.my son and husband loved the lazy river especially my dad lol.the spar is expensive as you find with most holiday sites.the laundrette costs five pound for one wash and one pound for a 10 min drying token.prestatyn is only a short bus ride away, but i would recommend going to rhyl instead as there is everything there, nice bit of beach, loads of shops.overall i would go back but ask to be a bit closer to everything as we were a 15 min walk away.
