Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park
, CaernarfonshireHafan Y Mor Holiday Park Reviews
lets start with the accomadation, two of the group disabled and we were given an upstairs apartment with metal steps rusted through, not enough seats for the number in the group, not enough cuttlery and plates, the place was dirty and smelt of damp, the shower did not work at all it was dirty aswell. the grill pan had no handle, the pullout bed was well past its best and you could not sleep for the noise of the fridge, there was no bin for the kitchen or the bathroom, there was sweet wrappers under the beds and on the wardrobe which just went to show that the rooms had not been cleaned, we were told by a member of service staff when he came to look at the shower at 9am that the appartment was condemned!! but was re-opened for the sun holidays.
the entertainment was bingo or gambleing not much good with children!!
the live artist were members of staff who could not entertain a snail.
generally disgusting hafan y mor is on par with pontins will never go there again. this is a shame as the north of wales is very beautiful place to go for a holiday.

what a waste of money and time we are so dissapointed with the park for a start it is ment to be a family place with family activitis yet you have to be over the age of 8 which does not help when you have children of 2 yr and 6yrs. When we 1st arrived we complained about the state of the accomadation so we was moved to some where that was even worse i woudnt even let a dog stay in there let alone a family of whom has 2 disabled children i had 2 hav it recleaned but had to do it myself as the cleaner thought wiping round wiv a damp cloth was good enough JOKE. We had nothing to do on the site not unless you are willing to pay £20 pp for the ropeworks everything you have to pay for the only good thing was the mash and barrel they where so nice in there so friendley unlike the staff at haven. I will be sending a letter of complaint to the head office as i find it appauling that they could not find accomadtion to suit a family that is disabled. The carpet in the living had rip in there thw windows where falling to bits and had mould on them two of the rooms smelt of urine one of the showers didnt work holes in doors and cobwebs in every room and they where big so would of been there for a while and to top it off we was packing in the morning it was b4 check out time and a cleaner just walked in with out knocking and said "can you keep the door unlocked" I would encourage you not to go to this park as it is the worst park we have been to in 8 yrs. Lets see wat responce we get from the manegment team.

Superb holiday, and the park grounds are looking superb with the recent changes. Food was excellent, as were staff. Entertainment was of very high standard, and we got to see the touring show team aswel as showband 'Three', who were superb, certainly the best act we have seen throughout the holiday, and different to every other band. Accomodation was excellent, very clean and modern layout. No hard selling of mechandise which really annoyed me on past Haven holidays. I would certainly go to this park again. If your planning on booking a holiday on a british holiday park, only bother with Haven, and Butlins. the others dont cut it, and stay away from Pontins!!!!
- Advice: Make sure you get to see the entertainment on evenings, there is some excellent show bands and performers, the band we watched 'Three' were superb!!

All i can say is don't go here unless you have money on tap! This place is one money making complex! Yes our caravan was nice and yes it was clean but certainly wouldn't class it as "deluxe". The pool and its facilities
were lovely and myself and our 3 children loved it in there. The entertainment at night took alot to be desired all i can say is if you like 3 young adults running around the stage throwing slush drinks down each others pants as entertaining then please go. There is absolutely nothing funny or entertaining about that to me, even my twin 6 year old daughters thought it was silly. Our 11 year daughter found it all quiet boring at night other than the arcades she had nothing to entertain her. I'm really glad we didn't go half board as the dining hall looked like a cattle market in the mornings. I know i booked this holiday on the last minute and yes i was aware that there are extras to pay when you get there for other activties but i wasn't expecting it be as much as it was the only thing you actually get free on the site is the use of the pool, if you want go kart rides, crazy golf, aqua jets, archery etc it all comes as extra cost so if you are planning a cheap short break away with your children then all i can say is take lots of cash or a credit card because you will certainly need it!

My husband, four kids and I are just back from our two week stay in the park at Hanfan Y Mor. We were disappointed overall!
When we arrived we ate(some junk)in burger King.... this area aswell as every indoor area was also a casino! We spend most of our indoor time following our 1 1/2 year old son around these casino's with the bright lights. He spends no time in the soft play area as this area too small and is surrounded by casinos. There was no indoor play area where he could be contained where we could actually sit down and relax.
The entertainment at night was great but the cost of everything was just crazy! every where we turned it was face paining £4.50 hair wrapping £7 tattoos £4.50 balloons £7.00 slussies £2.50 lighting microphones / wands / swards etc £6 - £8. With 4 kids the money doesn't last!
The caravan was find but for the beds! It was like sleeping on the floor the beds were so hard.
The swimming pool was nice...it closed too early though and it also closed at lunch time.
Marsh & Barrel food was ok...the car very left a lot of room for improvement....potatoes were terrible.
The park itself was very clean and the staff were great.
The sports centre offered lots of activities, the karts and boat hire was good as well as the parks and wood.
The surrounding area offers lots of lovely day trips.

The place was filthy, stale, dated, and run down. Please do not even consider going, its disgusting! There are no activities throughout most of the day and at night its Bingo bingo bingo,
that abouts sums the place up, bingo and booze.
The accomodation was filthy - the food in the restuarant was the left overs from the previous nights dinner.! its definately your holiday from hell. If you like chips and spam, chips and egg, chips and chips, and chips and more chips, then your in luck, oh and chips and eh chips, oops did i type that already ? so much variety to choose from !

After reading many bad reviews about the accomadation, I was a little worried but when we arrived after an 8 hour drive, I could'nt have been more relieved. We upgraded to luxury accomadation and were given a 1st floor apartment. This was very clean and quite modern with leather sofa's and a proper dining table and chairs. The only down side was the size of the kitchen area - this was very small with very little work top space and there was very little in the way of utensils. Having said that, we did'nt eat in the apartment much so this did'nt really matter too much. The beds were comfy and clean. The bathroom had a shower which had very good power and there was a heated towel rail which came in handy for drying wet swimming clothes. The park itself is huge with so much to do. My children aged 4 and 7 loved the huge play area and swimming pool. I cant comment on the entertainment as we did'nt go as my boys enjoyed the play area more. Every day there were staff walking about picking up litter and generally keeping things looking nice. The site has 3 shops which although handy, are a little over priced. We had a 4 night stay and to be honest, this was not long enough - we did'nt want to come home. We were lucky with the weather as it was warm and sunny. All in all, a fantastic time was had by all and we cant wait to go again. Stunning scenery topped it all off nicely.

Just come back from a week at Hafan Y Mor Holiday park, our first visit to Haven. We travelled from Cork in Ireland and stayed in a deluxe caravan with my husband and two children aged 5 and 9 (half price if you book well in advance). The caravan was great. The holiday was brilliant, Haven has so much to offer for kids, loads of activities for the kids, make sure you book the activities when you arrive. My kids did archery, fencing, aquajets, aqua gliders, water walkerz, turbo paddlers, roller disco and loads more. If you have bicycles take them with otherwise you can hire, but great places to ride. There is so much to do. Evening entertainment was great for the kids as well as adults and their are also wildlife walks for the kids during the day and arts and crafts mornings. Great fun! There is a Tesco and Asda close by but you can buy essentials from the Spar at Haven.
- Advice: If you have bicycles take them with, you can hire but save the money and take your own ones

We stayed here in whitsun week myself husband and two children, we have visited many places over the country and abroad and this has to be our favourite.
We stayed in a superior caravan which was imaculatly clean and equipped with everything you needed.
We were a 2 min walk from the bash and barrel resaurant which had a massive childrens play area that my children were quite safely able to go across and play on.
Entertainment was fantastic something for everyone the acts they that bought in got everyone toe tapping.
The funstars were fanstastic with the children and got everyone involved but not in a cheesy way.
The swimming pools provded many hours of entertainment although we found it easier to use the seperate facilities rather than the family changing as these got very busy.
Their are 3 spar shops on site and yes these aren't the cheapest to go to but they were'nt shocking prices either.
In the day we tended to go off site to the beach in abersoch and travel round theirs a tesco in porthmadog and a asda in phlielli which both are about a 15 mins drive at the exit of the park.
We had read lots of bad reports about people smoking and litter everywere out side the show bars in the evening, we'll we went in the school holidays and the park was very busy it was spotless clean yes people are smoking but there all under large canopys outside the same as if you go to any pubs in the uk.
I'd highly recomend this site to anyway and this part of wales in so beautiful there was so much to do you can spend as little or as much on this holiday depending what you want to do.
- Advice: Go with an open mind especially in school holidays, yes it's busy but its a big place and theirs lots to do on and off the park.

Have just come back from a 7 night break in a comfort plus apartment which had a sea view and was half board. If you have been to a haven before or been to one of the parks i think you will love it. We did!! There were 4 adults a 3, 2 & 1 year old in a sleeps 6 accomadation. The apartment had an amazing view of the beach and mountains we had the door open alot of the time so we could enjoy it. Apartment was clean and tidy plenty of room for us all and the mountains of stuff we had. Had a dvd player and freeview. Dinner was good basic meal but nice reminded us of school dinners again but in a good way. There was plenty of choice for everyone and we did end up having seconds (and there are lots of choices for puddings too). There was only one night where we didn't fancy anything served (from the menu) and that night we had Papa Johns pizza from the site delicious and okay for a one off. Breakfast is good they serve your egg bacon sausages and waffle/ hash brown and you help yourself to other bits (beans etc and cereal toast fruit). you can go up as many times as you like. there is free tea, coffee, water, squash and grapefruit juice. Entertainment was good we saw the comedian and the magician/ illusionist they were good and the kids loved rory and bradley and the party dances. We loved portmadog and went twice to look round the shops and got some stuff from the local market which was fab. Didn't really like Pwhelli when we visited locals were rude. Only bad thing to say about the site is not enough baby changing facilities i had to wait 10 mins each time i went but not a huge problem. And the activities put on during the day for different age groups they really needed to control it better as our little ones couldn't really join in with the big ones pushing in etc (but as the group was 0-4 the parents really should have sorted it). Overall a fantastic holiday with loads to do on site the park swimming pool was fantastic we all had lots of fun there with all the different sections. There are boats, karts to go round the park, water balls, go karts. crazy golf and other activities to do for a charge which was reasonable. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and after going i cannot understand the bad reviews as i like good food and am very clean and tidy and like my kids to eat properly. We loved it so much we have booked again for next year.

I'm nearly 18 so still quite young, i'm going with my boyfriend and 4 of my friends at the end of October, which is quite cold brrrr.. however i have been hafan y mor 3 times before and loved it!! best site i've ever stayed on in GB! it's got lots of entertainment and theres always something to do, im going for 8 days and probably wont get to do all the stuff around the park. i've always stayed in a bronze caravan whilst visiting the park and never has it been dirty?? however, everybodys stay is different. the beach is lovely and a really nice size. its really small and you have access straight from the carvan. the pools ace, it's got one mazzive slide which 4 people can go on at the time, 3 flumes, the red one is the best! a kiddies area, rapids, bounce pool and a wave pool :D. there is also onsite a burger king, fish and chip shop, restaurant, pub, 3x showbars, 2x playgrounds, plenty of shops, a boating lake, fishing lakes, roller disco, sports court, the lot, be sure to go if you haven't it is a brilliant place to stay!!! My fave ever! and will be going back as much as i can!!!

I've been taking my family to Hafan y mor mor since 2003 and we've always had a brilliant time there. The first time we booked, having never been to a holiday park before, we booked an apartment, which to be honest was not what we were expecting, it certainly needed a total refurb, definatly a little worse for wear, however we loved the park and the surrounding area even more so, so when it came to booking a holiday for the year after, instead of boycotting the park based on the accomodation we'd experienced, instead we opted for a mid-range caravan. This was the best decision we'd made because the caravan was exactly what you'd expect from the mid-range, comfortable, cosy, warm, well equipped and yes, a little worn in. From then until now we've stayed in both mid-range haven caravans and privatly owned mid-range caravans on this park and have never had a bad holiday yet. In the time we've been visiting Hafan y mor, we've seen the park improve every year without fail, it is lovely and clean, full of activities for children of all ages, the park offers plenty of clubs and activities for children to get involved with too, there are two lovely beaches to visit which my children always insist on going to two or three times in the week we are there, the Mash and Barrell pub is also quite nice and reasonably priced although I cant comment on the meals offered with all-inclusive holidays as we've always opted for self-catering, which if you were to consider this option there is an Asda supermarket a couple of miles from the park in nearby Pwllheli or a large Tesco about 5 or 6 miles away in Porthmaddog. There is no getting away from the fact that there are arcades, gift shops, takeaways and a whole lot of other stuff that your kids will love to waste your money on but that's what it's all about right? kids having a break from the norm and having fun. If I were to try and find fault with the park, I would say that for the last couple of visits, the funstar entertainment wasn't was it once was, this is because every couple of years the funstars are re-shuffled and find themselves at different parks so it's no surprise given that some funstars are better entertainers than others so given time I have no doubt that it will again improve. Off the park there is plenty to do and places to visit like criccieth castle, Black Rock Sands, Porthmadog, Ffestiniog Railway, Pwllheli, Caernarfon castle, Greenwood forest park, Angelsey, the list is endless. The thing to remember is that regardless of Havens best efforts, holidays are subjective, you can't please everyone but take my word for it, it's a lovely park in a lovely area in a lovely part of the U.K.
