we went there on the 29th march 2010 and stay in a comfort room with half board. Are room was by the baths and the affon restaraunt. We never had a kitchen and the room was fantastic and well better than butlins half board rooms. There were new towels each on the beds and i was really pleased because i to had read bad reviews on here. The park had less on then skegness or minehead butlins but it was a cheaper holiday and i was expecting this. the kids loved it and i really thought they put on fab entertainment of a night and i won on bingo 25 pound but it would have been 75 but there was 3 winners. ive book 1st april next year for a week half board and a week 16th sep in a caravan self catering. i fell in love with the site and altough i still holiday at butlins i will still have holidays with haven too and hafan is a clean and perfect site. My advice dont let bad reports put you off go with a open mind and judge yourself. Im fussy and this was outstanding and the cleanliness was 100%

Earlier this month my family and I went to Hafan Y Mor in North Wales. We had read some of the reviews on this site and I was beggining to dread it. We booked the holida in North Wales because we wanted to experience the stunning scenery and enjoy everything the park had to offer. After a 6 or 7 hour drive from Portsmouth, we arrived at the site about 7pm. We drove through stunning scenery on the way though, so that was nice. On arrivial we were greeted by a friendly security guard who gave us our key and gave us a map, which he drew a route on which took us directly to our caravan - Waterside 47. It was right over the railway bridge and about 10 - 15 minute walk away from the main complex (the swimmingpool/splash zone and funworks). We got to our caravan, and were expecting the worse. But, we were pleasantly suprised, we had a clean, modern caravan, with two bathrooms, 3 bedrooms. There were 6 of us staying, so the two bathrooms were really helpful. We had no problems, the beds were readily made. We were suprised to see that we had a huge plasma screen TV, with freeview and a DVD player. Shame we didn't bring any DVD's, though I think you could rent or buy them from spar. The park was nicely kept, even though they couldnt fufill their gardening schedule due to torrential rain (luckily, we didn't experience too much rain!) It only rained once in the morning for about 20 minutes, so it didn't really bother us, and compared to what we were told about before, we considered it lucky. We unpacked and decided to get something to eat - we walked down to the 'Mash & Barrel', as we were self-catering. This is the only RESTRAUNT on site, except afon gardens but you need to be halfboard. We thought there would be a few more restraunts, but there were only a Papa johns, fish and chip shop, and a burger king. We went to Mash and barrel to find that we were too late to eat there, so we went to he main complex and had a take away meal. I had a meal deal from Papa johns which was 5pounds for a pizza and wedges and drink, it ZZs not expensive at all. The fast-food outlets there were all reasonably priced, but one night we did see only one person working in the fish and chip shop - people were wainting about 20 minutes just to ORDER, then about another 10 minutes for their meal! So many people left for that. We decided to check out the entertainment, but it really wasnt our cup of tea. In one of the two places, it was just children running around with funstars singing head shoulders knees and toes, and in the other one, which seemed a bit better, it was so full unless you wanted to stand there was no point. We didn't use any of the evening entertainment, but we did use the funworks arcade on a few occasions.
The beds were really uncomfertable in the accomodation, and it will be boring for anyone over 8 unless they have a friend come along. Personally being a teenager, if I had a friend come along I would have enjoyed it so much more.

  • Holiday Date:Aug 2010
  • Advice: It was ok, but quite boring being a teenager myself. I would reccomend it if you came with a friend

just back from h.y.m. booked a prestiege at 1150 euro for the week. The mobile we got was nothing like what was advertised on the web site. we complained, but was told they were fully booked. it was like living on a building site for a week. Staff started work at 6.30am, constantly speeding past on machinery. Couldnt let my 5 year old out to play as the speed of cars ect. was crazy. Also, most of the lockers in the pools dressing rooms were without keys. As a result my jacket was stolen, and even though i reported it twice no body bothered to even reply to me. Also you have to pay for everything there e.g. crazy golf, boats, bouncy castles, bikes, so if you have a couple of kids you may add a good 500 sterling on to the cost. Would recommend disneyland paris a hundred times better. Entertainment at night was loud and repetitive.

Was a bit dubious over this booking, it was a last minute thing as we wanted to get away for a week (Me, Wife and 8 year old son), and Wales seemed a good choice.
We were welcomed by friendly security guard on arrival and directed to reception. Breezed through there, given directions to our appt' maps keys, very friendly no problems.
We had a comfort plus apt. It was basic but clean. Bed a bit uncomfy, and the shower had no power at all.
The swimming complex was excellent (not sure where some of the dirty comments come from?) as were the football/basketball courts. The beach is a bit rocky, not really what I would describe as a beach!
The Mash Barrel served reasonable food at a fair price. We eat out most nights as the sites 1/2 way between Pwellhli and Porthmadog so not restricted with choice. There is also an excellent Indian called Spice bank in Cricieth (About 5mins away).
Didn't see any of the evening entertainment, but it seemed to consist mainly of Bingo.
Well placed for N, Wales - Caenarvon under an hour away, Snowdon about 45 mins and the amazing beach at Aberdarron about 45mins (well worth a visit).
Overall, for the price no complaints.

Hafan Y Mor... Fantastic!

Just got back from 8 days holiday at Hafan Y Mor, staying in a "Super Comfort" Apartment, 2 adults and our 2 children aged 5 and 10months.
Before setting off there I had read a number of negative reviews of this park and still now they are appearing!
I seriously cannot understand the mentality of people on here; are you all looking for marble and gem encrusted interiors with piped music flowing over every inch of the park? Either that or looking for a free holiday? hmmm!
Trust me, if you're going to Hafan Y Mor (especially with kids) it's fantastic.
From our point of view in the Super Comfort apartments these rooms are great. Roomy, modern, VERY clean! Flat screen mounted digital TV with dvd player; Remote control electric fire, 2 leather sofas; built in new hob and oven; pine beds, tiled and marbled bathroom. Even the bin was chrome!
Beautiful to be able to wake up to a mountain and sea view too!
Obviously, I can't speak for other accomodation but ours was perfect.
As for the park in general...
The pool was WARM and VERY clean, as opposed to opinions in some other reviews on here(!) The Lifeguards are very efficient too.
The bars and complexes are NOT run down. They are roomy and great fun, very clean and well attended. Very little queuing at the bars and the sort of prices you would expect. NOT overpriced.
The funstars put on great interactive shows for the kids and my little daughter did NOT want to come home, and nor did we.
Prices are as expected. Bouncy castle and trampolines for example are £2 and the kids don't get thrown off after 10 mins.
facilities are excellent. Burger King (Clean!) Papa Johns (clean!) Starbucks (clean and VERY modern!) 2 well stocked Spar shops.
The restaurant (as we stayed half board) is clean and very big. There was SOME queuing, but that did depend on what time you arrived for meals.
Food was good with decent choice. No culinary masterpieces but (again) as you would expect and we enjoyed it every day.
The beach; if you take notice of the tidal times is good enough. If the sea is in, Yes it is rocky, but there is plenty of time when the tide is out and there is plenty of sand for the kids to dig and run and paddle.
The area is good. we had a 40 min drive to Padorn national park in Snowdonia and I recommend that to anyone. An awesome sight. 2 free museums, a train ride a boat ride and a couple of resonably priced cafes.
All in all this holiday ranks up there with any holiday we ever had and that includes 5* hotels in Sri Lanka etc.
Do not be worried about negative reviews on here..
Hafan Y Mor is fantastic and we WILL be returning!

My fmaily went to Hafan Y Mor holiday park from 16-20th August 2010 and I was very surprised.
Having read previous reviews about how unclean the park was, the standard of accomadation and general negative reviews I was so worried that I nearly cancelled my holiday.
When we arrived the holiday park was spotless and clean. We checked in very quickly and given the keys to a caravan in the Cader Idris number 97... This was a lovely part of the site.
When we got to the deluxe caravan it was positioned in a quiet part of the park. The caravan was so clean I was very relieved. The caravan had all the features we needed for a fab holiday. There was all cooking utensils enough storage and it was generally well looked after.
We used the swimming pool once which was fun for 2 hours but it was busy. I was a bit disgusted in the changing area that someone could change a childs nappy and just leave it on the floor however that was not a fault of any staff on the premises.
We didnt really do much on the site as this was really only a base for exploring wales and wales is a beautiful place.
Did not go to the beach on the site went to TRAETH beach i think thats whats it called which was nice. So can not comment on the beach at the site.
We went to one of the late night entertainments but it was packed and there was no where to sit so if you are interested in this you need to get there early. We only stayed for 10 mins...
Overall my family which was 3 kids aged 3-10 and me an partner had a good time my kids are still talking about the caravan/wales and they want to go next year instead of Menorca....
We would come back again but this holiday was worth the money and even though we did not do much on the site the negative reviews on some of these review sites should be taken lightly or you may be tempted to cancel your holiday and will miss out on a good location for exploring wales and good value accomadation.
One last thing I would recommend you get a caravan they look better then the chalets though...but that is my opinion as the whole site was packed with people
overall well done HAVEN, and enjoy your holiday to those about to go to this holiday park

Just returned back from Hafan y mor, after a long weekend Friday to Monday. This was a late booking so could only get an apartment. It was advised as Comfort on Havens website.
We had already stayed at this site at Easter in a caravan which was great, so we were really looking forward to our stay.
When we arrived at our apartment, the entrance was tired looking, the stairwell was filthy coroded and the door lock was not appropriate (big safety issue).
On entering the apartment, there was a musty smell, the sofa's were stained, the windows were rotton, there were stains and fag burns on the carpets. Decor was very tired, this was not what was advertised on the website. In the main bedroom, the matress was soaking wet with something. My heart sank, there was no way I was going to stay there with my husband and two children.
I did complain straight away, I was told that they were fully booked and there was nothing they could offer. I stood my ground and insisted that they either move us or tranfer me to another Haven site (Greenacres) which was in Porthmadog.
we were eventually moved to one of their 'refurbished apartments'. This was a lot better, leather sofa's new furniture etc.
I am really disappointed that we were originally put into the first apartment and have lost a lot of faith in Haven.
we did manage to enjoy our holiday dispite the above (for the childrens sake) but won't be going back there anytime soon.

Hafan Y mor - Disappointing and very very basic

Just got back from my first weekend at a Haven holiday park. Hafan Y Mor. We were more than a little disappointed. Whilst our room was clean and tidy it looked like it had last been last decorated in 1960. The shower was so small I had to duck to get in, there were no powers sockets in the childrens room and the bathroom seemed only capable of luke warm water.
We were looking forward to using the pool facilities and its proximity to the beach.
The pool seemed impressive at first however. The lazy river was broken, the bounce pool broken, one of the 3 water slides broken, one of the two jacuzzi style pools broken. The tower which gave access to the water slides was also missing several windows. Hardly impressive for the 1st week of the summer season.
The beach also was a big disappointment. I dont really call a rocky boulder strewn area or a mudflat a beach .
I should also warm you all, everything on the park is extrememly expensive. Every single activity is an optional extra which will cost you the earth.
I wont be going back

We have just arrived home after a 7 day stay at hafan y mor in wales, last year we went as a family of 7 this year we went back with friends an there families also making 24 of us, the caravan a deluxe was very clean an fresh as soon as we got into it an from we got up in the morning to we went to bed at night we had a ball. If you want a holiday where you feel your children are safe this is the holiday for you. There are that many things to do on the camp you would nearly need to stay longer than 7 nights. The resturant on camp did lovely meals. The beach if you go later in the morning when the tide is out is a lovely beach. If you have any problems the staff have it sorted in know time eg. are electric went out an within 15 minutes of reporting it to reception it was on again. All the staff on the camp where very good to all of us. The pool is very good there is plenty to do for all age groups even the adults can have fun in the pool on the slides. We have been at this haven two years running now an will be going back again next summer. go ahead people go book hafan y mor for your family holiday........
