Not Bad!
from EasyNote
Just had a two week stay here which wasn't bad! we booked a side sea view room and were NOT amazed when we arrived and had views of the side of a neighbouring hotel! However the reception staff were quite good and two days later we had another room with a sea view. Don't be surprised if you booked a sea view and don't get one as there are very few rooms that have one. The rooms themselves were always tidy and clean, but the furniture was tired looking. Some guests commented on this and had heard that the hotel was going to be re-furbished soon? It does need a re-furbishment to set it apart from the other hotels. The location on the beach front was excellent and the pool and snack bar were good. All of the staff at the hotel were really pleasent and nice. The buffet breakfast was very good and there was lots of different foods to choose from. The resort is ok, there are plenty of places to eat and drink, although they are all pretty similar! We found 'Zorbas' and 'Palmyra' to be the best. There are 3 cash machines in the resort, but don't rely on them to much as they were mainly broken. All in all not a bad hotel but needs that re-furbishment!!!
"Still Perfect Second Time Around"
from NFFCForever
Just back from our second visit to the Zakantha Beach Hotel, and it was just as we remembered it from our first time. The hotel staff are brilliant. You must make the effort to see Monica in the bar at night, she makes everyone feel welcome and will guide you to the best places to eat in the area. Plus she handed out some discount vouchers to us as well. The hotel is well maintained, though the rooms are a little basic (but this is Greece, what would you expect), but are cleaned daily . I have rarely seen a hotel be constantly cleaned from morning through to the night. The location of the hotel is superb, it is on the edge of Argassi town, so far enough away from the noise so you don't really hear it, but close enough to get there each day/night. Do not book a taxi/bus ride with your travel agent, they will rip you off. We went with a well known travel agent who charged us £35 for a taxi to and from the hotel. We later found out that the same taxi ride would have cost us only 26Euros! The price of the taxis in Zante are set by the government so just get a cab from outside the terminal. The hotel is a mere 10/15min ride from the airport. Don't be put off by this as the flights do not come over the hotel so you never hear them. Overall a wonderful hotel with a bunch of brillant people, highly recommended for an enjoyable stay. See you again Zakantha Beach Hotel, that's for sure
A week in Zante
from Pookiebella
We have just arrived home from a week in Zante and I felt that I must write a review as I found the others so helpful. We paid full price for a full sea view room and were not disappointed with the wonderful view from the balcony, however the room was very basic and dated and the bathroom very small with a tiny bath - not quite what we had expected for a 4* hotel - however it was clean and the single beds were comfortable. We paid extra for the use of the fridge and the safe i think it came to 33 Euros? And we we quite shocked to find that the safe was down stairs in the lobby!! Apparently if you have a sea view you dont get the safe in the room!! We did get use to it although it was a bit of a pain... The beach area looked smaller from up above but it was a perfect size and alot better than any of the other hotels situated on the beach (we took a stroll right up the beach and most of the other hotels had stony beaches!) The snack bar was very handy for icecreams and bottles of water. We visited the Piano restaurant twice for evening meals as it was so fantastic, the staff are very helpful and friendly and it is a very romantic setting on the sea front - with views of Zante town in the distance. It is about 10minutes or less walk from the hotel if you turn right out of the hotel passed the church you will see it on you right. it was recommended by a previous reviewee and I am so glad that we found it!!! Prices for the meals the same as in Agassi but much better quality - try the stuffed lamb it was to die for! The breakfast was ok in the hotel - we only ate a few times and just had toast and coffee and yougurt and honey which was fine. If you want a really nice breakfast go into the cafe left of the hotel next to the petrol station - we ate their a few times and the pancakes and bacon sandwiches are lovely. If you decide to go on a trip dont book it through your tour guide because they are basically the same tours as what are being sold on the street but a lot cheaper - we fell for the tour guides patter and paid more! Go on the jeep safari we had a wicked time with Ike the tour guide - 'jeep discovery zakynthos ltd' he has set litte theme tunes and is a bit mad - loves to have a joke and took us to some amazing places.... you will not be disappointed!
we've had a great time!

Me and my boyfriend (both 21) have just come back from our week holiday in Argassi and it's one of the best we've been on. Hotel is excellent, very clean, and staff are very helpful and speak excellent english. Only thing that was bad was the road view from our room. Quite noisy at night, mopeds can get very annoying. It's not so bad with the door closed but it does get quite hot at night as we didnt pay the extra for the air con. The hotel is in an excellent location. The main entrance of the hotel leads straight out to the main strip of shops and restaurants and the back exit leads straight on to the beach so very handy. Breakfast at the hotel is not really up to much. Cereal, bacon, eggs and toast are on offer, with fresh fruit. Tea is not that great... However, we only had it a few times as it is only served until 9.30 so quite early. A lot of independant companies offer day trips to various places and this is a great way to see the island. We went on a coach trip around the island to see the shipwreck and a boat trip out to the caves and we were not disappointed. The coach is well air conditioned and comfortable. The shipwreck is well worth a visit and you can get excellent post card type views. Its quite a long day and does get very hot, but well worth a visit. We also got a bus to the capital Zante Town. Very cheap bus fare, quite reliable. Well worth a visit. Lots of shops and restaurants. Night life is quite good whatever age you are. There are probably around 15-20 different restaurants to choose from in Argassi, each quite similar in price and quality. Our favourite was called Poseidon. Very cheap, excellent choice and the waiters are very friendly and speak good english. The local beer Mythos is very cheap (around 2 euros a bottle). There are lots of pubs/bars to choose from. We found the best to be Magic Mushroom bar that have mostly r'n'b and hip hop music and Factory which has varied music, but is more of a nightclub. Overall, we've had an excellent holiday and would definitely recommend it. The biggest let down was on the way home. The zante airport is RUBBISH. Very small and we had to queue ouside in the boiling heat to check in, so on your departure, make sure you take a drink. Its worth paying to pre book your seats home as you are not guaranteed to sit together other wise and you dont have to queue to check in (something we wish we had done).
fantastic hotel

This hotel is by far the best i have stayed in my holidays to Greece so far. It is ideal for couples Good Points. The staff are by far the hotels best asset were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very relaxed and informal. It has a nice pool with free sunbeds. The snack bar by the pool serves good food and offers a nice shady area to escape the sun whilst looking onto the clear blue waters of the sea. The hotel is right on the beach but there is a charge for sunbeds of 6 euros. The sea was very clean, sandy with some small stones and stays shallow until you are a distance from the shore. The hotel was very clean with a regular maid service. Air con was free although was limited to certain times of the day. The breakfast was very nice with bacon, sausage, egg, cold meats, cereal, fruit juice on offer, tea coffee etc. Bad points. Our room was looking a bit dated but still offered all the amenities you would expect and was very clean Top Tips, Don't pay for a transfer it is only £10 in taxi from the airport and takes 10 to 15 mins. Try the "orange" bar (be careful drinking and hammocks do not go !) or the "peppermint" restaurant for a romantic meal/drink . Go to the "beer academy" to watch sporting events etc (as a sky sports connoisseur it is very good) Get your own speed boat from lagunas and find your own turtles is only 80 euros for the day which is cheaper than the trips and more fun/dangerous (depending on how good a driver you are) Overall we had a great holiday which was very relaxing and i would recommend this hotel
peace and quiet :-)

My fiance and i only returned yesterday staying for a week. we choose the first week of the season as it would be quiet and we werent dissapointed :-) 90% of the restaurants in argassi were open and the hotel was quiet and relaxing :-) we only booked day before departure and had a sea view which was amasing. Monica who works in reception and the bar is so welcoming and the holiday wouldnt have been half as good without her imput. It wouldnt be a holiday for me in the summer however as i like to expeience real greece and the food, not "red lion pub" or karaoke bars. The breakfast isnt up to much however there are many places to choose from for a decent day starter. dont be ripped off by tour operator transfers, a taxi only costs 10 euros from airport. (the airport closes at 10pm so no night flights to wake you up or disturb you) thanks
Great for Young Couples

My Fiance and I stayed at the Zakantha Beach Hotel in May 2005 (Only just got around to writing this report!). The hotel was lovely, very clean and staff were very friendly. It has a very relaxed atmosphere about it and I didn't feel uncomfortable going about the hotel in a bikini and flip-flops which was great! It was my birthday while we were there and my Fiance asked Nici on reception to suggest somewhere to take me, she suggested we go to the Waterpark (the other side of Zante, about 20 Mins in a taxi) in the day and then suggested the most gorgeous restaurant up in the hills for the evening. We had the best day and we were so grateful to Nici for helping us with booking taxis and even booking the table at the restaurant. We went to Shipwreck Island on the boat trip and it was amazing, a must see. You even get to jump off the boat in the middle of the beautiful blue sea (cold but well worth it!). As for Argassi, it was the cleanest place I have ever been, we didn't see one fly or ant or cockroach or any creepy crawly! The local tavernas are great, we ate like kings and certainly didn't spend like them. The local shops are great and are open until about midnight so if after your meal you need a little stroll, walking around the shops is ideal. We were thinking of going back next year but have decided to get married next year instead now so we will need to put it on hold! We definately hope to go again though, with so much to see and do and plenty of falling asleep by the pool it would be a shame not to! We were 24 and 31 at the time but I would say it suits most age ranges and certainly all age ranges were having fun!
Some Good, Some Bad !

We have just returned from the Zakantha Beach after booking a last minute holiday on the Manchester Airport website. The hotel itself was good, it was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was what you would expect really for Greece. To sum this hotel up I would say that the back of the hotel was 100% wonderful and the front was 100% awful. No prizes for guessing which side we were on ! The hotel is at the end of the Argassi main strip on a very busy main road. The traffic noise just does not stop and to make matters worse there was a taverna right outside that was playing music until 4.30am. This wasn't really too much of a problem for us though, as simply by shutting the doors and turning up the air con unit , which sounded like a WW2 bomber, and having several pints of wine before we went to bed we slept reasonably well. Had we however paid the full brochure price or had young children I would not have been happy. On a plus point the back of the hotel is wonderful. A very nice pool area, lovely snack bar and a few steps down to a super sandy beach which is small and ideal for families as the water is very shallow for quite away out. Argassi itself is horrible unless you go away to Greece and want to eat/drink in places called the Red Lion or Molly Mallones Irish bar. We got the bus each night into Zante town which is 5 mins away and great, all Greek families and not a football shirt insight ! Although on our last night we did find a gem of a place just around the corner from the hotel called the Piano restaurant. Right on the beach front, great views, great food and service and definatly worth a visit. To sum up this hotel, would go again if I could be sure I would get a beach or pool view room. If you book last minute chances are you will be at the front of the hotel on the main road so take some ear plugs !!

We have been to this hotel for the last two years in the spring bank holiday and have booked to go again this year at the same time. It is a great place for couples who want a quiet relaxing holdiay. The first year we had a room overlooking the beach which was wonderful to wake up to and look at the view and the sea. Last year we only had a side view but it was still pretty spectacular. It is worth paying the extra for the full sea view though. The breakfast is very good and sets you up for the day of lounging by the beautiful pool. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The added bonus is that is only a short stroll to the local tavernas where you can sample the locally caught fish and produce and wine at very low prices. I can't wait to go again in a few weeks with the confidence that I will have a really great holiday, coming home feeling wonderfully relaxed.
Stress Buster

Returned from Argassi on 8th August. Had two fantastic weeks at the Zakantha Beach Hotel. The staff were kind, helpful, funny and the hotel itself was superb. The garden terrace overlooked the beach. Check out their web-site. Argassi is a small resort suitable for families and couples. There were a few singles around but certainly no lager louts. The most stressful thing we had to do each day was choose from the menu each evening in the many varied and excellent restaurants. Try the jeep safari and a turtle trip. The turtles have cute little faces. (I am 49 by the way).
the zakantha beach hotel is a very nice hotel and very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpfull especially monica who works on the bar in the evening she gets everyone talking to one another and has a laugh and joke and makes some great cocktails! the roooms are... more
