Submitted By: Mr M WalthamThe hotel has just been refurbished and looks a whole lot better than it did before.
The lifts have been changed and are now safe (unlike before) and there are fridges in the rooms and air conditioning.
The fridge is €21 to hire for a week and the air conditioning is €7 per day. (free in July and August). And the safe is €18 a week as well.
Monika and luciano are both still there and are as welcoming as ever.
Can't wait for our next time at this Hotel.

Submitted By: Mr D NeathIt annoys me that some people will blame the hotel for matters that they have no control over e.g. flight times, room allocation etc. These are complaints that should go to the tour operators.
The first time we visited this hotel in 2004 (booked through Going Places / My travel / Airtours) we requested, and paid for, a sea view room but on checking with the hotel we discovered that no full-seaview rooms were allocated to any travel companies. Some of the side rooms used by some travel operators had a partial sea view but not Mytravel/Airtours. Needless to say we demanded our money back from the travel agents and booked a sea view room directly with the hotel. This actually cost far less!
Since then we have never used any travel agent or tour operator except for cheap flights and all our hotel bookings have been made directly with hotels. It sometimes doesn't save us any money (in fact occasionally it works out slightly more expensive) BUT we don't have to pay months before departure and we get what we want rather than what we are given!
Oh and two added bonuses of independent travel -
1. The hotel gets paid at the end of our holiday rather than months or years later so independent travelers tend to be given preferential treatment.
2. We don't get pestered by reps trying to hard sell us their over priced trips.
If you are going to Agassi - Forget the airport transfer offered by the tour operator. It takes 15 minutes in a taxi instead of up to two hours on the coach and costs around 12€. This way you check in before everyone else and if you don't like your room you have time to change it! You will also be sat around the pool having a lovely cool drink whilst everyone else is fighting for their room keys!

Submitted By: Mr JP NewmanMonica "The Legend" behind the bar makes everyone welcome and boy has she got some stories to tell, very funny girl.
One word of warning re sunbeds around pool "German syndrome" get up at five to leave towel on bed. Monica recommends throwing them in pool. Please note no Germans in hotel.
Went on round the island boat trip. Rep said if you want to see rocks go on this trip, we wished we had listened.
Recommend jeep safari to see island you can’t see it all in a car, guide knew everything from who lives here to what grows here.
One downside Airport going home. Had to wait outside for 1.5 hours in shelter before checking in then half hour for passport control and finally stood one hour in departures before getting on plane. But hey we brits love to queue and what’s 2.5 hours out of your life when you’ve had a great time. Please note extra security due to bombs in London and Glasgow.
The reps were right when they said it’s better to wait outside in the shade rather than inside a stuffy building and no seats.
Hope to go back one day.

Submitted By: Mrs N HaynesThe plus points are that it is at the Zante town end of Argassi and a 45 minute pleasant walk from the main town - don't pay for taxi's or bus (which may not turn up). The hotel has an excellent large car park for guests, a good pool, gardens and is right on the beach.
The beach is small, but is fine. Hotel staff are friendly.
Breakfasts are the usual, bacon, eggs, toast, rolls, bread, cheese, cold meats, orange juice, coffee, tea, sweet breads, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, honey, jams, butters etc and plentiful.
The downside we found is that the atmosphere is more like a motorway motel - totally devoid of any 'buzz' and life. Also our room (side sea view) had the most noisy air conditioning system I have ever experienced - but it was free as the temperature hit the 43 mark while we were there.
Side sea view is fine (we overlooked the car park) - we pitied anyone in the road view rooms- and I think a few did complain while we were there. Luckily the hotel is right on one end of Argassi - so not slap bang in the middle of the bars and clubs (which are low key compared to some resorts).
If this hotel was refitted (as some suggestions online say that it was) it must have been small and confined to a few rooms only. The main areas are sparse to say the least - I think they ran out of money for furniture and wall hangings. Huge expanses of white painted walls.
Hire a car from Flocas (next to petrol station - which is next to hotel) - they charged us 60 euro for 2 days using a Hyundai Getz - so much cheaper than tour reps and other hire outfits. The Olympus trip is a must - as is the cruise of the north shores (use your own tour reps for major trips - as these conform to safety standards).
There is enough to keep you occupied for 7 days - with a 14 day trip you would have to be beach lovers -as nothing else to do.
There are plenty of shops, supermarkets, chemist, banks, cash points etc in Argassi.
" Excellent hotel, right on the beach,... "
Submitted By: mov1976All staff are very friendly, and the breakfast were fine. The beach side bar wasn't too expensive and the pool / beach area wasn't overly busy.
Local restaurants were great, and there are plenty to choose from. On the last night there we found a nice place just heading away from the resort centre from the hotel, and it was amazing food.
We'll be going back this year on our return that’s for sure.
Resort isn't too busy, which suited us fine, but the nightlife is as good as you'd need it!!
Overall a fantastic holiday was had, but if you have a family make sure to pay for a sea view room, as the road side rooms can have a fair bit of noise in the night from the local young "car boys" showing off!

Submitted By: Mr M WalthamThe hotel is clean throughout and the beach and the pool are a stone throw from the hotel, as is the snack bar which does superb food from 10am to 6pm. The sun beds around the pool are free to hire, where the ones on the beach are 3 Euros each to hire for the day.
The hotel is in prime location about 1/2 kilometer from the center of Argassi, which is full of restaurants and bars that suit everyone’s needs. Also 3 kilometers from Zakynthos town (about 4 Euros in a taxi), which also has its fair share of restaurants, shops and cafes.
I saw a lot of people put this hotel down because of the age and state of the rooms. When me and my family were there, we heard through the grapevine that the whole hotel is set to be refurbished over the winter of 2006/2007.
Overall me and my family found this resort very relaxing and pleasant. We enjoyed it and we plan to go back sometime soon.

Submitted By: Mrs J F RichardsonThe room was very basic for a 4 star hotel. The shower was not fitted to the wall so my partner and I had to hold it for each other to shower. The bathroom is very dirty and tired looking. Carpet in the room also very dirty. Air conditioning is limited to set times of the day/night. Biggest and most frustrating problem arose regarding the departure day and flight times. As our flight arrived in the early hours of our first day our room was available on arrival at 7.00 a.m. and this was counted as our first night. This resulted in us being out of our room on Sunday 12.00 midday, but our return flight not until 6.55 a.m. Monday morning.
The hotel does not provide a transit room for showering, sleeping or storage of luggage. We, and other guests begged the receptionist for assistance with a transit room or use of a shower. Her attitude was appalling and she was not willing to help even for those of us who wanted to pay extra for the service. We raised issue with our tour operator who managed to find us another apartment for the final night at an extra cost. The hotel tried to get us to leave at 9.30 a.m. rather than our scheduled 12.00 midday departure. Breakfast was excellent and the rest of the staff were excellent.
But we will not be returning to this hotel in the future. We will return to the island as it is beautiful and the locals are very friendly. Stars Taverna was fantastic, very reasonably priced, excellent service and the food excellent if you enjoy traditional Greek food. One last pitfall is the airport at Zakynthos, its unfinished, dirty, flights were all late departing, no where to sit but the filthy floor. Lets the island down as it is so beautiful.
" Cannot fault the hotel, very clean,... "
Submitted By: Mrs R HiltonHaving traveled to many resorts in many countries, I have to say this is the worst. Yes, the staff are friendly and the food is nice, but it located on a very busy main road. People drive very fast through it. The pavements are full of pot holes.
If you like full English breakfast and karaoke then you will like it, tacky England in the sun. Those looking for traditional Greek culture, forget it.

Submitted By: Miss K SkinleyWe enjoyed our holiday so much we tried to get back a week after we came home. There are lots of bars and things to do but what makes it the best holiday is the people we became friends with. There’s Monica the excellent bar maid in the hotel. Phil the Aussi night watch man who’s seen it all in his time! There’s a petrol station next to the hotel and next to that is FLOCAS cafe! Anything you need they will help you, hire a car from them, we parked the car round the corner removed the ashtray bandaged our arms up and said that was all that was left of the car! The reply we got was the car is insured can be replaced you cannot! Though it was only a joke, which the whole family found hilarious! If you go there they’ll take care of you Alex and Andrea’s, and the wheeler-dealer Billy!
Tell them Kate and Sandy send there regards there’s a photo in the car hire place next door of us. WE WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK NEXT YEAR!
We arrived in Zante as strangers and left as Friends!
Kate and Sandy missing Zante!

the roooms are small but modern and are cleaned everyday,u do have to pay for air conditioning out of peak times but we coped fine with out it.breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about there is allways something you could find to eat though, the snack bar does good food at reasonable prices.the pool is small which was ok at the time of year we went as it was not to busy i would imagine in peak times it would be very crowded though but then theres always the beach which is on the door step the area outssiide the hotel is lovely further along is not so nice!
argassi has some excellent restaurants the food is outstanding and so much choice try ethnics, premier, stars to name a few we ate somewere different every night and was never dissapointed, theres lots of bars to, plenty to keep you entertained in the evening and they all do great cocktails.we went on a few trips during our stay to the shipwreck which was great the water was amazing to swim in ,the jeep safari we got to see some lovely sights and you would only mannage it by jeep!,we hired a speed boat out from laganas whih wes great fun and went over to turtle island, zante town which is lovely go on the tourist train it costs 5 euros return and you get a good few hours there and theres plenty to keep you busy .all in all a very good holiday which we really enjoyed
