I went to the sarantis with a large group of people (11) including 2 young babies and we all had a scream!!! I honestly cannot believe some of the reviews i have read. We all found the holiday extremely enjoyable and we really had no complaints at all about the hotel or the delightful family that owns it.
Sarantis and Zoe (his wife) were extremely friendly and were absolutelty lovely to each member of our party, especially to the young children of the group. Angelo and Georgia (Son and Daughter) were also charming.
As for the karaoke nights ours were fab and the owners got very involved singing on more than one occasion with fellow holiday makers.
Oh and as for the remark about not being able to enjoy yourself around the pool we spent a large amount of time around the pool playing with floats and inflatable footballs, and on one occasion sarantis even joined in with us.
As for the hotel itself the rooms were very clean and the prices at the bar were very reasonable. A member of the group lost one of the towels and when they went to pay for the loss they were told it didnt matter and were simply given another towel.
The hotel is in a fantastic location with the supermarket, square, resteraunts, and beaches all about a 5 minute walk away. The resteraunts were lovely and the beach had lots of water activities and a bar you could visit. Friends of ours who stayed in another hotel were also alowed to sit by ther pool with us and we had no problem inviting them into our rooms.
- Holiday Date:Aug 2007
- Activities: All of the resteraunts were fab, and the church in the square was also lovely

My boyfriend and I stayed here in Aug'08 for one week. Where do I start...Our room was on floor level so no proper balcony as such. The rooms are quite clean, though we didnt cook. We kept ourselves to ourselves. On the last day, on signing out, we didnt find the owner particularly friendly. He was waving his hands about and wasnt too happy as we'd forgotton to bring the remote from the room! So dont forget that!.. After that, we witnessed a huge row between the same owner and a couple, who were also signing out. We didnt purchase air con as its so expensive! But would recommend buying it as its soo hot! Also, the bathroom stinks as there's no window in there.
Dining out - romantica is ok if you've got about 3 hours to spare. Food/service/the bill takes ages to come! Wouldnt go back to that restaurant. Generally tho the restaurants are good.

Ignore the bad reviews and believe the good ones!!
We've just had a great two weeks. Room very comfortable and clean, owners really helpful and pleasant, pool just the right size for the number of guests, and no problems with getting sun beds when you needed them. It's close enough to the town centre for easy access, but far enough away to be undisturbed at night.
If you really like the August heat don't bother with it, but we took the optional extra of air con in the room and it was great - we got our money's worth!
With only 47 rooms there was a good family atmosphere, and everyone talked to everyone else (except for the Brits talking to the Greeks and other Eastern Europeans - but that was a language thing!!)
If you'd wanted the advertised karaoke you'd have been disappointed, but there was a quiz night which suffered from more people answering questions than actually paid, but hey, it's just a bit of fun!! And we did win 8 Euros!!
No hesitation in recommending Hanioti as a resort and Sarantinis as an apartment.

We booked our holiday as a last minute deal with travel agents, we then came home & read the reviews and wondered what we would find..... Well all we can say is that we have just had one of the best holidays ever. We took our two sons 15 & 17 and there was a mix of age groups at the hotel. Families, couples and young & old people. The cleanliness at this hotel was fantastic throughout. There wasn't any entertainment, not even Dave the reps quiz night but as we met some lovely people there it did not matter. As for the family they were lovely, friendly, helpful and would recommend places to visit and took pride in their hotel.
Some holiday makers were eventually asked to leave after continually returning back to the hotel at two - three o'clock in the morning and gave no consideration to the other guests. It is quite satisfying to know that every one deserves a good holiday and not just ones that sleep all day and party all night, we were out till early hours too but respected the fact that it was late and people were sleeping. Some friends that we met that were staying at a hotel nearer the square were regularly woken up in the ealy hours and had no response when they asked the management to ask them to be a little quiter. So welldone Mr S for considering all his guests.
Our friends were also invited to use the pool during the day and were able to come back at night for drinks and, as every one else in the hotel, they were made equally welcome.
We broke two glasses in our room and expected to replace them following the reviews, but when we reported the breakages we were given new glasses and no charge.
As for the pool not opening till 9 what a refreshing change, on previous holidays we have had to get up before 8 to get a sunbed. I t was lovely getting up when we wanted too and then going to the pool, and having sun beds when we wanted them.
We would definately go back to the Sarantis and would definately recommend it to all age groups. It has a local position, a lovely pool and lovely , clean facilities with a friendly welcome.
We cannot believe that people that have been giving such poor reviews over the last 2 years stayed at the same hotel. Could it be that the reponse they received was due to their own behaviour ???? Holidays are what you make of them.

Having been in the position of reading bad reviews about the Sarantis I was expecting a holiday in hell - it was exactly the opposite! I had to post a good review to prove a point! If you are respectful and friendly with the hosts then they exchange the same courtesy. As for issues with food round the pool - that's standard Greek taxation laws! Beer prices and cocktail prices are the same in the restaurants as they are in the Sarantis bar!
We were placed in a room above the bar - no problem, bar shuts at midnight, as the main road we didn't hear it. The self catering facilities were no worse than anywhere else I have ever been, two rings, a microwave (first time i have ever seen one of those in a room), kettle, toaster. Room was immaculate! Cleaning service great! Bathroom - standard basic Greek, clean.
In fact we had a problem with the toilet which Sarantis fixed as soon as we mentioned it, he couldn't have been more helpful.
If you have a problem with the exchange rate and the money taken by the hotel, then take alternative financing, an ATM is situated just around the corner.
No issues with the pool times, as we had a room overlooking the pool then personally I was glad that children were not allowed around there before nine - I was on holiday and wanted a lie in! As for seven when we were there no-one was in the pool at this time.
Sarantis and his family made me and my friend both extremely welcome! They are not just staff, but they are running a family business, it is too much to expect that guests spend a bit of money in their hotel? We certainly didn’t feel watched as commented on by several people.
Tip for food - try the APXONTIKO opposite the garden, seemed cheaper than most of the other restaurants but it was fantastic!!

Me and my friend have just got back from a weeks holiday at the Sarantis Apartments and what a brilliant time we had. Our apartment was on the ground floor and facing the bar, superb location. The family were really lovely and were very helpful and friendly. Yes, they had a poolside rule of no drinks/food of your own, but that's fair enough when they have a bar there with plenty to offer. I really do not know where these people who leave negative comments stayed, must have been a different Sarantis Apartments or just miserable and didnt like basic rules, but I can honestly, 100% say that we had a really good holiday and are hoping to go back in September.

Where do I start?! stayed at the Sarantis for one week and boy! that was enough. The room was small to say the least, allocated 2 knives 2 folks 2 teaspoons etc etc haven forbid you might need extra!. The only nice people were the cleaners, the owners should take a lesson in manners which cost nothing, Mrs Sarantis walked about with a permanent scowl on her face constantly checking facilities and rooms, which she would enter whilst the occupants were out, tut tut!. The nights were chilly so I asked for a blanket (only had a sheet on the bed) if looks could kill I would have been six foot under!! so from then on I was the enemy. As we are not beach people, we spent most of our time around the pool but as our apartment was only some 10ft away we tended to go back for refreshments as the bar prices were scandalous much to the dissaproval of the Sarantis's. The check out time was 08-30 and we were told this was because the Sarantis only had a small cleaning crew and that they had to ready the rooms for several flights coming in that day, rubbish! the real reason is so Mrs Sarantis has ample time to go to each and every room to inspect! I actually witnessed her in our room holding up the towels and inspecting them, up to our pick up time 10-50 am no cleaning had been done. Needless to say we won't be returning and I suggest the holiday companies should re-think about using the Sarantis.

This is honestly one of the best holidays iv ever had! The family are so so lovely they will do anything for you! As for the locals not liking the family thats rubbish!!! We spoke to alot of locals who loved the sarantis! Georgia (Mr Sarantis Daughter) is really funny, friendly and will do anything for you! Mr and Mrs saranti are lovely too!! Everyone in our apartments got on really well like one huge family!! It was such a lovely holiday i want to go back again NOW!!!!
As for the nasty comments about the sarantis I suppose you get treated how you treat others!! Remember some people will moan about anything!

I mean all the people that complain about this wonderful family have not got a clue, they are very friendly I have been to Sarantis twice and each time they have made my stay very easy as being in another country.
The laws are so much different to english laws and people seem to forget this, the tax out there is very strict if you buy something make sure you get a receipt if you don't a plain clothed officer could slap a fine on you and the shop if you are caught, that's why you are only allowed drinks around the pool which you have brought from the bar there.
The pool needs to be clean every day and no chemicals are used its all natural way of cleaning it, how would you like to get in a dirty pool. The people complaining about the heat, you are in Greece, what you expected it to be cold did you dur!!! That's enough about the sad little people of this country all they want to do is complain and they will find anything to do this, don't listen to anyone if you want to go, go don't be put of by the mindless idiots.
If you go out there and are unsure of anything ask the Sarantis family or your tour rep they are both there for you to enjoy your stay. And here's a little tip learn a few greek words it really really goes a long way with all the locals.

Went to the Sarantis this year (07) August with my partner and son who had just turned 3. I found all of the Sarantis family very friendly, especially towards my son. Didn't spend much time at pool, we went to the beach which was nice. Very few english families, mainly greek families who were friendly enough.
The restaurants in the square were lovely and loads to choose from. I would recommend Hanioti to a family with small children as there is not much entertainment but loads for kids, including an outdoor play area which was great for kids. Also go-karts for kids. Apartments very clean except little bit hot. Have booked again for next year July.

Having only returned yesterday from Haniolti I felt obliged to inform/warn people about the Sarantis hotel. As two ladies 20+ all we wanted was a beach holiday and to relax and what we got was a holiday ruined by the rude and horribly staff at Sarantis.
When we arrived we were not welcomed but thrown a set of keys and remote control and given directions to the room. The room is very basic and has only 2 of everything, 2 spoons, 2 knifes, 2 forks etc and god forbid you ask for anything extra you just get waved away by the awful wife and given a dirty look. Within 3 hours of being there we were warned about making any noise even though we were asleep by the pool, we didn't think anything of it and just carried on sleeping laughing it off. The next day we arrived from spending the day at the beach and Mr Sarantis was waiting by the front door for us and just followed us into the room picking up our towels and telling us that if they are wet we are not allowed to sit anyway in the apartment but only outside and that he would not be changing our towels or sheets for the rest of the week, at this point we had to call our rep and tell them that we were very unhappy as we were being picked on and penalised for everything we did even breathing. Our rep told us she would voice our concerns to the hotel.
As the resort was expensive we decided to cook in our hotel and couple of nights to save some money whilst cooking pasta we received a phone call from Mr Sarantis shouting down the phone telling us to close the fridge and not to open it, shocked and angered by this phone call we called our rep immediately informing them that we had just been shouted at and further more that the two men had been looking into our apartment through the window - we felt so exposed and insecure by this as it meant that they could have been looking in all the time, even with the heat we had to keep our doors and curtains closed for fear of prying eyes.
On our last day our check out was 9am, at 8.50am there was a bang on the door the wife and cleaner didn't wait for us to open up but just walked in the room with their own key telling us to get out as our holiday was over we were so angry we just quickly packed the rest of our things and walked out as we were leaving the wife was shouting telling us we had broken the remote control - we hadn't even used the TV.
Our holiday itself was lovely the resort itself is very relaxed and friendly and is aimed at couples and families but nevertheless we had a good time and made friends with the locals, however this hotel brought our hotel experience down the staff are rude and nasty and Thomas Cook should seriously consider not using this hotel – I would not recommend it to anyone.
