" You may have already read in previous... "

You may have already read in previous reviews, that the food in the hotel is very limited and after a week gets tedious, and as stated there are plenty of bars.

If you want a sun lounger by the pool, get up early, otherwise no chance, I had to get to the pool by 7am every morning just to put a towel down, most of the guests at the hotel are either German / Dutch.

The beach is not good for young children or the elderly, it is a completely pebble beach even several metres into the sea, and not as some brochures state (sandy / shingle).

The Hotel Staff are very friendly, I really can’t fault them.

However be very carefully, just a short walk down the street, you can get a henna tattoo at very good prices, however he is only around from 6:30 at night, and when you got to bed it will rub off on the covers.

As my partner found out this can turn out expensive.

We had to cover the cost of a 3 year old already badly stained bed sheet to the original cost of 120 euros, so make sure you have insurance cover. (I made sure I saw the invoice before paying, and spoke to our rep about it, the manager wanted to charge me 150 euros, and I when I complained I was threatened with police arrest).

Again, the hotel is very clean, the area of Trianda has changed a lot over the years and is very built up, even the locals are not impressed at how it has changed.

There is a small child’s pool, but really only suitable for children under the age of 2.

Even parents were taking babies into the main pool.
The main pool like others has a shallow end and a deep end; however the shallow end of the pool is taken up by pool aerobics and volley ball, leaving little opportunity for small children to play.

If you want to relax by the pool then forget it, you are constantly knocked around by teenagers darting about and getting hit by balls. Your better off sitting amongst the palm trees leading to the poor beach.

If you stay at this hotel, you will want to spend more time either surfing (great facilities), or visiting other areas of the island, I highly recommend Rhodes Old Town.

There are plenty of places to hire cars etc, don’t just pick the first one, and look around. Take note, the roads around the hotel are cramped as are the path ways, any disabled people will need to walk on the roads (or use a wheel chair obviously), as pathways are very narrow, also there are a lot of parked cars and no one seemed to stick to their side of the road.
Think of English country roads with parked cars down them, with coaches coming the other way and you get the idea.

Don’t buy water and ice creams at the hotel, compared to the shops, they are expensive. 1 litre bottle of water in the hotel is 2 euros where you can get 6 for 1.80 in the shop over the road.

Other than that, the weather was great, not a single cloud in the sky and with the sea view, you can see Turkey.

Happy holidaying.

" Two adults and one twelve year old -... "

Two adults and one twelve year old - excellent holiday.

Apartment very clean, air-con was fine (when card key inserted!). Heard fellow travellers complaining about the bungalows overlooking a building site, but hotel spotless.

Food fine with a good selection. If you are a veggie there is loads of fruit and at least two veg. with dinner. Only complaint would be entertainment, after mini disco, there was not much else. Luckily where the hotel is sited is on a road leading to Trianda town and subsequently has a host of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. These all close around midnight, so if you want to club it Rhodes Town is ten minutes away by taxi (9 euros).

Pool was fine, water volleyball twice a day and water aerobics was very popular. Beach was fine, a lot of wind surfing going on due to the choppy ea, however wear flip flops as it is quite pebbly. Clientele quite a European cross section, Germans, Dutch and Italians, a few French and we met Norwegian and Icelandic people.

" We have recently returned from a two... "

We have recently returned from a two week stay at the Blue Horizon Beach Hotel. The good points were very clean, friendly helpful staff, great views (from a frontal sea view room), and a convenient location.

The bad points: limited choice of food (especially if you do not eat meat), the same type of fish (one) was on offer every night in a different style.

The sunbeds on the lawns and beach cost us 6 Euros a day, (those around the pool are free, if you manage to get one) and the rooms have a swipe card which, only enables the electricity to be on when the card is placed in the holder hence, it is only possible to have electric mozzy killers operating when you are in the room.

You will need to buy insect killing spray and repellent (or suffer the consequences). Also, the entertainment programme is mainly poor (as most hotels are currently).

For tea lovers; take your own favourite tea bags, buy milk, and then try to obtain 'hot' water from the waiters to make your own cuppas.

Trianda has quite a few bars, tavernas and restaurants all within easy reach of the hotel (more than Ixia), although we only really found one taverna (Greeklands) with live music. Car hire is very reasonable, and bicycle hire is cheap.

There is an almost constant stiff breeze in Trianda which is good for Windsurfers, and also keeps the temperatures down.

" A great location and a lovely hotel,... "

A great location and a lovely hotel, although we went at the end of the season the staff at the hotel and in the surrounding bars and shops cold not have been more friendly and welcoming. The only minor complaint we had was the food at the hotel was never served at the right temperature but apart from that we had a great time and I would love to go back again.
