The rooms at Sophia beach are lovely and huge they have all basic facilities. The pool is a lovely size and yes it can be seen by most of the apartments which is great for parties with small children. However...
I found that the pool is very murky, not like the normal clear chlorine pools that are normally found on a complex like this, I found the barman a tad creepy at times especially with the young girls that were on the complex.
The manager George was not there for the first ten days of my holiday but when he was back all hell seemed to break lose at the complex, he called a young teenager an 'animal' all for bringing a can into his bar from his own shop, after he offered to fight the young boy. After, his older brother came up to have a word with George about the incident George pulled a knife out of the drawer and imitated actions that were not nice.
Kos is a lovely quiet place and lovely if you want a relaxing holiday, have to make your own entertainment, not a lot of entertainment around. Would return maybe just not at Sophia beach.

We came back from Sofia beach at the end of May, in all there were 9 of us in 2 apartments. 2 mins walk to the beach, 20 mins walk to the town along the main road with all the shops and bars.
All the staff were excellent, George the owner and barman was brilliant he kept us all entertained, and was great with the kids.
Jimmy at the blue phoenix was great as was the food. We booked the three island tour independently and it was 115 euros for all 9 of us that was half the price it would have been if booked through the tour guide.
All in all a great time had by all would definitely go back.

The Sophia Beach apartments were clean and we were lucky to have a 1st floor one bed apartment with a huge balcony overlooking the rear of the hotel with the pool to the right.
There were only 2 of us so the room was more than big enough with microwave, kettle, fridge, shower and curtain and plenty of wardrobe/drawer space etc. The pool area looked great for kids but we chose to spend our days on the beach which was only 2 mins walk from the apartments. Until our 2nd week there was no sun shade around the pool so no escape from the hot sun.
A 20-30 min walk (which was flat and pleasant to walk) took you into Kos Town where things were busier. You must go to the Sun Burnt Arms on the beach (20 mins from the Sophia) - we spent all but one day of our 2 weeks there! Other places to eat are the Blue Pheonix (100 yds away), Pegasus (left out of the Sophia and right at the cross roads, 5 mins) and the Far East Chinese (right at the dolphin roundabout).
We would definitely return to Kos although possibly not these apartments only for the fact that the ground floor rooms have a sunken terrace hidden by bushes and having had a great room on this occasion I'm not sure we would fancy being in the basement.

Sofia Beach Hotel is very clean and well landscaped. Rooms are very good for Greece. The pool although not quite as big as the photo on Airtours site is perfect if you have children as it can be seen from any part of the pool area and my daughter loved it. The maid service is excellent. The barman George is very efficient and friendly.
The restaurant Rinos, which is opposite to the right of Sofia Beach, is superb. The owner really cares about what he is cooking for you and the food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The Palace Beach restaurant on the beach front is also very good.
We booked the Lazy Day boat trip, which was great, through the Rep(about 9 euros more than booking independently).
All in all wife, my 9 year old daughter and me had a fantastic holiday and I would have no reservations about staying at the Sofia Beach again.

Nice place but its really not a four star, better suited as a 3*.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, not the cleanest of places I have stay in, and it is very close to the night life so if you are facing that way you will not get a good nights sleep.
Sophia is better suited to younger people.
