BEST HOLIDAY!
This was my second holiday with my fiancé and we could not find any problems with the hotel at all!!
Upon arriving at the hotel at around 4am we were greeted by the friendliest reception staff we were given our key and two bottles of water to take to our room the outside of the hotel was lovely!!
We arrived in our room and were more than pleased it was spotless there was a tray in the bathroom with mini shampoo, soap, etc.
The view from the balcony was amazing wherever you were in the hotel!
The food was really great for all appetites fish, meat, vegetarian dishes, and plenty of it! The staff were all so friendly and helpful.
The only thing that could put some people off was how steep the driveway into the hotel is not good for people with buggies or less able people, however there is a free bus service to take you to and from the beach everyday and taxis are cheap enough at 3 Euros to puerto rico town centre and to the beach!
Clean towels are provided everyday for the beach/pool at reception and also you can have as many bottles of water as you like from reception as there is also a mini fridge in the room! Free safe also which came in handy!
Definitely be returning to this hotel GREAT!

Having been married for just a couple days before our arrival at the hotel Vistamar I can honestly say I was a little apprehensive. Of course you want the best for your loved ones and I wasn't disappointed.
On arrival we were booked in with flawless efficiency and directed to our room with a very welcome ice cold bottle of mineral water. Once inside our room which was spotlessly clean we crashed for the night. When morning came we both ventured out onto the balcony and were met with an outstanding view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Food at the hotel is fantastic and plentiful so expect to put on a few pounds, we did. You honestly can’t go wrong; the array of food is stunning something for everyone I'm sure.
The two pools, one being free form where again spotless - to be honest everywhere is. You get free sun-loungers, lounger cushions, even towels - to my experience not always included in 4* accommodation. There was plenty of space and the pools never seemed overcrowded and the view well once again fantastic.
I can’t say a bad thing about our stay, we both genuinely loved our experience and have booked for this year as well and will do so in the future I'm sure there really is something called the RIU difference.

Stayed here over Christmas, lovely hotel. Great food, plenty of sunbeds, staff very helpful. Entertainment for adults not that great.
However, please make sure you double lock your door and leave valuables in the safe.
We had the experience of someone entering our room from the main door and then forcing open the safe and we were not the only ones.
The management were very helpful but it did not appear to be that important to them to find out who the culprits were.

This was the third holiday at this hotel and each time we have enjoyed it more. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we are returning again in January (with all the family).
The hotel is really clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in a large family room with great views (especially the sunset and Tenerife).
The room had a large double bed and two beds for the children and there was still plenty of room to move around in. There was air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Free room safe, TV & Radio, and a nice bathroom. The staff always kept the rooms really clean and worked very hard all day.
The food is really great with plenty of choice and lots to drink, you can even ask for international brands and they will oblige.
The swimming pool is a reasonable size and is great for children, (you can get clean towels to use every day, so you don't need to worry about beach towels). They have lots of children’s entertainment during the day and also the evening. The shows put on by the Hotel are very good, however, the entertainment room could be bigger, and if you are on a late dinner you will struggle to get a seat for the shows.
They have a free bus service to and from the beach (which comes at quite regular intervals) however a taxi is only €3.00 for a family of four.
If you want to leave the hotel for the day there are a few trips that are worth doing. The water taxi to Mogan, this is known as Little Venice, it has a lovely Marina, classy shops and restaurant and a safe beach for young children. Sioux City is also entertaining for adults and children, along with the Aqua Park in Maspalomas.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting great service, food, and lots of entertainment for the family. We love it and can't wait for January.

Do stay here!! You will not want to go home!!
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 weeks in January. We both loved every minute of our holiday. We have been to Gran Canaria loads of times and have noticed the Riu from the beach so we decided to give it a go!
The rooms were very clean, the staff were friendly. The food was excellent, very varied. I am a very fussy eater and always found something to eat.
We will definitely be returning to this hotel!!

We went on holiday last year and had a wonderful holiday, we didn't need to lift a finger and it was easy to get to places and go out in the day or just laze around the pool.
We found it good with having a family of 3 children to feed and keep entertained and with 2 being teenagers we were surprised that it worked.
I would definitely recommend it and we are going again on the 6th august.

The Riu Vistamar was an excellent hotel, all the staff were really friendly, and the accommodation was spotless.
The food all day long was brilliant and I and my wife found the entertainment was spot on, a real credit to the hotel. Although we have no children there seemed plenty to keep them entertained and more than enough for adults alike.
The sea views are awesome and I can’t speak highly enough of the hotel.
The only draw backs are its location, although it is within 10 mins of Europa centre. It is a very steep walk and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to the disabled, or people who have trouble getting around.

We have just come back from 2 weeks of solid sun whilst the UK suffered rain, ha ha!
Anyway back now from a fantastic holiday (The first with a 1 year old) and we enjoyed all of it.
FOOD: The food was great, with so much choice all day long including burgers, chips, pasta for the fussy ones. Ice cream every day and was replaced after being in the cabinets for so long. Along with all the foods. No dickey tummies to report because they were very conscious of this.
Drinks machines dotted about to serve yourself including wines and beers, cokes and diet cokes. Not a cheapo replica of coke.
ROOM: Clean and tidy and had towels, soap, shower gel, shampoo. And what a view. It seems anywhere in this hotel has a view of the sea.
Service/Staff: Spot on. Tipping was a nightmare as we should of tipped all of them as
They were all very happy in their jobs.
IF YOU HAVE A NIPPER: No problems they have highchairs for dinner and the staff are very sympathetic if you have a noisy one. The Staff make time to say hi to them and cheers them up.
And they have a mini club from 10.30 to 12.30 and 3 to 4.30 where they can paint and play games etc. In the evening they have a mini disco from 8 to 8.30pm which is a lot of fun.
POOL SIDE: Do not leave your towels there and go to breakfast. The pool guys will remove your items and take it to the towel shed.....Trust us they will.
There is more sunbeds here than tea in china so no worries there. You get towels so don’t pack them. And you can replace them every day.
BEACH: A bus goes down there every hour until 6. Walk at your peril as it is very steep. The beech has refreshments and is clean. The sunbeds and brollies are free and plentiful. Worth a visit or 2.
BAD POINTS: Struggled here to find some but here we go. If you are in a wheelchair or a buggy they is no lift to the top pool. Err umm. That’s it.
SUMMARY: Go and enjoy 10/10 nuff said.

Just returned from a great 2 weeks at the Vistamar. Had read reviews before we went & thought that no hotel could be that good - but it was better!
The staff were extremely welcoming & helpful, & we had no problem at all during our stay other than what to choose to eat from the vast array on offer.
The entertainment team were really good, but some of the dance routines they put on were a bit "samish", just not our thing although others liked them. Great with kids.
The walk up the hill from the hotel was a bit steep (with a 2 year old in a pushchair) but worth it for the view.
There was a courtesy bus to the beach but we chose to walk most days for the exercise, & walked into Puerto Rico too which was a good walk, with a Taxi back only about 3-4 Euros. (Free bottled water from reception helps)
Only negatives - the Thomas Cook rep who did not seem to know much, & when asked to check things for us gave us the wrong details, & the fact that you cannot get anything to eat after last sitting for dinner (6 or 8pm) as the pool bar was also closed too. I always fancy a snack after a few drinks, & being AI the drinks flow freely.
All in all though a great hotel & well worth 4* rating.

First time I’ve travelled on my own (51yrs) so picked AI really for safety and convenience.
Flights from Bournemouth with Thomson Excellent there and back had row of 3 seats to myself both times, the staff were lovely, the food reasonably good for an airline meal, will definitely fly from BOH out of choice - as opposed to Gatwick or Heathrow.
Hadn’t booked transfers as I’ve been to GC loads of times - asked taxi driver how much to Puerto Rico? About 50 euros!
Come out of LPA look in front of you and you'll see the motorway you can safely cross under it {about minute walk} and catch the nos 1 or 91 buses to Puerto Rico central COST 4.45 euros.
Taxi up to RUI Vistamar 2.90 euros. On the way back catch the 91 from PR and you're at the airport in less than an hour. Total cost of transfers - LESS than 20 euros.
RUI VISTA MAR HOTEL - Believe me it deserves every single capital letter!
It is by far and away the best hotel in GC - Bell boys for your luggage, Free bottled water at all times from reception, Rooms with views to die for - ceiling fans, air-conditioned, free safe, free fridge, fantastic staff.
Food very good, always fresh and plenty of it. Pools spotlessly clean with loads of sun beds.
I could go on for hours, Oh Forgot free bus up and down to Amadores beach all day.
Food available from 8.00am till end of dinner at night [only drawback is their crazy seating times for dinner 6pm or 8pm.
This hotel is suitable for everyone from singles to my granny, families to groups, all ages will really enjoy the luxury. Try the Beauty salon for a pedicure & manicure for only 34 euros.
All that remains is to say RUI VISTA MAR Enjoy It I'm absolutely positive you will!

When booking my holiday this year I was looking for something special as I was taking my girlfriend away for her 30th Birthday. I was also planning on proposing to her.
I can honestly say when we got there in the wee small hours we weren’t disappointed as the hotel was amazing! The staff were so friendly and knew we just wanted to get to our room and get settled.
The next morning we woke up to a breathtaking view overlooking the beach (Amadores) from our own private balcony. The room itself was fabulous, neatly decorated and very clean and had all the "mod cons" air con, TV, Radio, free security safe, Power shower / bath etc. Every morning our room was cleaned, towels were changed, beds were made etc by their friendly chamber maids. Could not fault the room in any way!
The facilities within the hotel were excellent, e.g.: 2 large pools, games for during the day arranged by the hotel staff for both the kids and adults and the evening entertainment again mostly done by their own staff. Always a good night! The waiters / waitresses are quite funny they always try and have a giggle with you. The large function suite was great, plenty of room and you get a good view of the main stage from sitting just about anywhere. Again had no complaints!
The view of watching the sunset on the balcony of the function suite is a must see, it is so relaxing! (Especially with a beer)
The food was delicious no matter what time of day you felt peckish, there was something for everyone, whether it was up at pool buffet or in the main dining room downstairs. The food was so professionally laid out it was great. The food ranged from, hot dishes like steak, chicken, roasts, all kinds of fish dishes to your cold salads, pasta dishes and your cakes, ice cream etc were plentiful. Honest there was so much to choose from. The food was delicious!
All the drink was plentiful as well and lets just say they weren’t shy with their measures. Fantastic!
This was the perfect holiday I was looking for, full of sun, sea, sand and most of all relaxation. (And she said yes to my marriage proposal which was an added bonus) yipeee.
We will certainly be back to this hotel in the near future and can’t wait!

Great hotel food excellent lots of choice, all staff very friendly drinks were international
unlike other F I we have been on good quality hotel. The only down side was too few lifts for the size of hotel. Being built on cliff it took a day or two to get used to reception on floor 8 and all rooms down. Courtesy bus very frequent. great veiw over the sea, watched the sun go down each night. Overall a good holiday but not suitable for infirm as the road from hotel to street very steep.
