" Just returned from a ten day stay at... "

Just returned from a ten day stay at Prinsotel La Dorada. We were very impressed with the hotel, its facilities & its staff. We found this hotel to be exceptionally clean. The rooms are plenty big enough for a family of four. We have a 12 & 3 year old who slept on the sofa beds in the lounge area quite comfortably (one bed has an arm rest that acts as a good bed rail for a younger sleeper) The bedroom has twin beds pushed together. The kitchen is small but any bigger & it would be a wasted space, after all, a holiday is about time out of the kithen! Its well equipped with all you need to prepare a bit of breakfast or lunch. There is a dining table with four chairs in the lounge.

The pools are again very clean & the setting out of the area has been very well thought out, it never seemed busy or cramped even though it was fully booked at the time of our stay. There are plenty of sun loungers although the better locations go 1st obvioulsy but not rediculously early so everyone has the opportunity to relax where they want. The walk to the beach is a few minutes across the main road. Its a very nice stretch of beach with clear shallow water.

Athough we stayed self catering we were told by other guests that the meals are good & the breakfast is fantastic. We did eat in the pool bar quite a bit where they offer a wide variety of snacks that were reasonably priced. A few minutes walk away there are a number of restaurants that were all nice. It is quieter in Playa De Muro than Alcudia but is ideal for young famillies who dont want a loud, late night. We personally found it to be just the right balance.

The entertainment staff are good with the children & there is a froggy club for the over 4's. Our youngest wasnt old enough this year but we will be returning again when she can join in the activities. There is a froggy disco every evening where even the little ones can dance to all the usual holiday songs. They also have an aqua disco in one of the shallow pools which is great fun for kids.

Overall our stay was very pleasant with no problems at all & we would definately return. We would fully recommend this hotel, particularly to those with children.

" An excellent two week holiday at the... "

An excellent two week holiday at the La Dorada. Rooms plenty big enough and very clean, towels changed everyday, sheets three times a week.
Pool area is fantastic and there is plenty of space to find complete sun or shade. There are enough sunbeds for everyone. The first week they were left out and the early morning people had towels out by 7:30. This was more about location that getting a bed. 2nd week they were locked up until 9am and there was hardly any rush.
Restaurant is very clean and has a wide range of food and the bar/entertainment area is inside and very clean, again plenty of room.
As the guests were from many countires, English, German, Dutch, Spanish, French, quite often it wasn't over crowded as everyone had different entertainment tasts.
It's well worth a visit and we will be returning.

" We spent about 2 weeks, reading... "

We spent about 2 weeks, reading reviews on other hotels before choosing the Prinsotel La Dorada, and we are very pleased we did. The hotel is fantastic, and I would agree with all the other reviews, you will not be disappointed.

We went half board, through independent travel operators. Stayed for 9 nights.

Hotel Apartment:
We were in block 3 on the 3rd floor, overlooking the nature reserve, which is great, very quite as you are not overlooked and are away from the noise from the pool, bar area and evening entertainment, lots of birds to watch some amazing sunsets.

The apartment has an open plan lounge, dining area and small kitchen off to the side. (Comes equipped with everything you need, but only a two ring electric hob) Large balcony, with table and 2 chairs. And dining table and 4 chairs inside.
All apartments are the same size and layout; there is only 1 bedroom, but a large L shape sofa, which you would use to sleep small children on. We did see cots being used.

The bathroom is large, separate bath, with shower overhead and a large walk in 2 people separate shower cubical.
The air conditioning is great, and there are black out curtains, for keeping the room cool during the day.

We had two large twin beds which were pushed together, when we asked for a double the hotel staff were quite happy to accommodate this request, but in the end we changed our minds, as we were quite happy with the room. Lots of wardrobe space (2 wardrobes), but not enough hangers.

Restaurant:
Great, lots of choice.
Breakfast - a wide selection to cover all tastes.
Dinner - Lots of choice, and they do themed nights. You have to pay for drinks separately. But you can set up a tab with reception and pay at the end of your stay.

Hotel:
Staff very friendly and helpful, they speak multiple languages. Always happy to help us with any questions or problems we had.
The hotel grounds are very clean, hotel is modern in decoration.
Parking is located next to the tennis courts, but there is always parking on the street outside the hotel. The hotel is located off a side road, so quite and secure area. Inside reception there are internet computers.

Pool and grounds:
Impressive water fountain entrance. Well laid out, landscaped gardens and pool area. Great free-flowing pool area. There were always enough sun loungers, and shady spots if you needed to cool down. They have covered, wicker relaxing/seating areas, around the pool, which are good for chilling out in, or putting hot kids in.

There is a kids club, shallow kid’s pool and bouncy castle, volleyball pitch, tennis court, crazy golf, table tennis area. The entertainments team, do a good job of providing a wide range of day time activities, archery, shooting etc. Very friendly.
Nice Pool side bar/salon, which served drinks and food. I would recommend the San Francisco drink (non alcoholic) or the Prins Club cocktail (alcoholic drink).

There is an inside swimming pool, gym, Jacuzzi and sauna. Nice if you want to get away from the sun for a bit.

Area:
The hotel is close by to shops and supermarkets. There is a large Alcampo, near Palma, if you need to stock up. The beach is about 5 mins away. We would recommend visiting; The Pirates Adventure show in Magaluf (a bit of a drive but worth it), also Cala D'or and Porto Pollencia/Pollencia Bay.

Notes:
We did experience problems with mosquito’s, especially at night, so take so repellent.

" Stayed in early June. Hotel lovely... "

Stayed in early June. Hotel lovely and staff very friendly. Could not recommend the hotel highly enough. The breakfast food quality was excellent. I would say only problem is that if you book transfers with holiday company it will take over 1 hour and a half. The journey in a taxi took 40 mins and only cost 65 euros. The beach in Playa de Muro is beutiful and there are various restaurants and bars located within walking distance. It takes about an hour to walk to Alcudia itself if you fancy a more vaired nightlife. This resort is ideal if you want a relaxing holiday and perfect for children.

" Just returned from Prinsotel on... "

Just returned from Prinsotel on Saturday 15/09/07 after a 7 night stay at Playa de Muro. We cannot praise this hotel enough, very clean and the living accomodation was great. Ours backed onto the nature reserve and we did venture onto the balcony we was on the ground floor.

We did get a few bites but nothing serious. My 2 children of 6 and 10 loved it. The pool was fantastic, the food as great as it could be, staff were brilliant, childrens entertainment was great.

We spent almost our whole time by the pool, only venturing to the beach for a couple of hours and into Alcudia for 1 day. Cant praise this hotel and staff enough. We will definitely be returning there without doubt...

The entertainment team were the best!!
Coco, Nadia, Cristina, Alba, Marina and Yan were the best ever!!

I loved this hotel, it is the best one I have ever stayed in! The dinner was nice and the breakfast was about average.
I loved the outdoor swimming pool especially water volley ball!
The rooms where cosy but could have been a bit bigger but were still fantastic!

Would defiantly go again!

" We (family of 4) have just arrived... "

We (family of 4) have just arrived back from our 2 weeks in the sun at the beautifully kept La Dorada apartments.

They are in a quiet part of the Playa de Muro area of Alcudia and have everything you need for a lovely family holiday, if you like things quiet. If you are after non-stop clubbing/parties this is not the place for you!

The apartments are very clean and spacious with 2 showers, 1 over the bath and a huge walk in 1 too! Reception is well staffed and available 24hours, they couldn't do enough for us.

All the staff were very helpful. This is the second time we have been to this hotel and would definitely go back.

The kids club is excellent, plenty of activities for all ages. The food at this hotel is delicious and fresh, a huge buffet with large selection of salads, pasta, meat, fish, fruit, and amazing puddings changes every night so you do not get bored, but if you do there are some lovely restaurants nearby.

The Dakota Tex-Mex is good for something different or for more traditional food try the Ole Pizzeria further along the road. For a good, well priced lunch try the George and Dragon too.

The beach is just across the road and has loads of sunbeds for 8.50euros a day, it is very shallow, great for kids. There is plenty of places to hire bikes or go-carts if that takes your fancy! We hired a car and drove to Puerto Pollensa which is beautiful and over the mountains to Puerto Soller which is well worth a visit.

I would recommend these apartments to anyone wanting upper class accommodation in a quieter part of town.

" The hotel was fine the pool was huge... "

The hotel was fine the pool was huge and it was lovely.... Sunbed hoggers were up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed which on holiday you don't really want to be doing that.

There was lots of German people there and barely any English people.

If you wanted something to eat you had to travel by bus to another town e.g; Alcudia and can Picafort because there is only one half decent restaurant, an Italian of which is shut on Tuesdays.

The rooms were nice and clean and the hotel and reception itself was stunning.

We had a very helpful rep who understood our problems and tried to make our stay more enjoyable... I highly recommend if you do come here go All inclusive because that is what the hotel mainly is.

You must visit the beach which is lovely the sea is choppy perfect for inflatables.....

" The overall look of the hotel is very... "

The overall look of the hotel is very pleasant and the pool area is probably the best feature with lots of different levels and features and some shade from the trees, a nice children's play area as well for 3's and upwards.

There are several good points about the hotel like the indoor pool (although not heated when we went), Jacuzzi, internet, bouncy castle but we felt that some of the basics they hadn't quite got right. The cot for our 10 month old son was metal and was reminiscent of those in the Romanian orphanages (not what you expect in a 4 star establishment). The high chair when we finally got it was downright dangerous as it was the same width all the way up (no wide base for stability) and there was no cross bar to put the baby's legs around so we had to be on the ball to stop him slipping out of it or toppling it over.

The kitchen area is very small and although there are enough pans and cutlery, you only get the 2 rings and a microwave (perhaps my expectations were too high). Also to consider if you have a baby is that the bedroom area has no door between it and the lounge so once you've got him to sleep, you have to be very quiet or risk going out on the balcony (see below).

The hotel backs on to a nature reserve/swamp and the drawback is that if you get a room looking out over it then sitting on your balcony could result in a number of lovely insect bites - we didn't risk it).

Finally if you are going towards the end of the high season or low season, be aware that the choice of bars and restaurants might be more limited as some had closed. We were okay for a week's stay as there was a Chinese, Indian and 2 other restaurants in walking distance. If you want more choice though because you are there for 2 weeks, you might have to travel to Alcudia for a bit more variety.

Overall, pleasant enough for a week but will try Cala D’or next time we come to Majorca.

" Had a super holiday at this hotel -... "

Had a super holiday at this hotel - couldn't fault it at all! The apartment was comfortable with a small kitchenette (I wasn't planning to cook much!), dining area, sofa beds for the kids, separate bedroom and a large bathroom with a generous shower. There were two patio doors to the balcony, one from the living area and one from the bedroom so we could sit out on the balcony even when the children were in bed in the living area.

The pool area was amazing, with fountains and bridges and several pools of various sizes and depths connected together - far more interesting to swim about in than one large pool. One or two lifeguards were present during the day so no need to worry if you nod off in the sun while the children are swimming. Showers were dotted around for cleaning off the chlorine from the pool or just cooling down on a hot day.

There were other things to do around the hotel, such as tennis, crazy golf, table-tennis, pool tables etc, although some things such as the pool table had to be paid for. There was also a kids club for ages up to around 13-14 but our kids were too old to join in so I can't comment on this.

The hotel had a buffet restaurant where meals could be taken, either on a one-off basis or you could get a discount by paying for several meals in advance. The food was fairly average but there was a wide choice of hot and cold dishes and you serve yourself, so you can have as much as you want of whatever you want. There was also a pool bar open during the day for lunches, snacks and drinks. One lunchtime there was a paella-making demonstration, and of course portions of paella could be purchased afterwards.

Evenings could be spent in the bar where "entertainment" took place - often rather amateurish a la Butlins Redcoats but good for a laugh and it all got funnier as the evening wore on and the jug of Sangria emptied.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, not far from the beach (although there is no promenade to walk along) and with plenty of small supermarkets, souvenir shops and cafes nearby. There is a local weekly market. A frequent bus service runs to Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa from a bus stop close to the hotel. Bus timetables can be obtained from a local tourist office. A cash machine is also available nearby.

This hotel is ideally located for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Unlike others, we were thrilled to discover that our apartment overlooked the S'Albufera Nature Reserve and spent many enjoyable mornings and evenings bird watching from our balcony. We hired bicycles from a shop just along the road from the hotel and cycled the couple of hundred yards to the entrance to the reserve, spending a very enjoyable day cycling between the hides (it's a very large reserve and cycling seemed to be the usual form of transport) and seeing all manner of birds - and also swallowtail butterflies.

This hotel was ideal for us as it had something for everyone - swimming and crazy golf for the kids, a buffet restaurant so I didn't have to cook and if the kids decided they wanted pasta and chops for dinner they could have it, plenty of bird watching for all of us and glorious views of the sunset as hubby and I sat on the balcony drinking Sangria and listening to the birds calling. Bliss!

" We have just come back from a... "

We have just come back from a fantastic 2 week break at the Prinsotel. I had my mother in law with us and my 2 children so we were looking for somewhere that would suit us all.

We booked our flights with Monarch and our Hotel and transfers with Relaxabroad and saved quite a bit of money compared to brochure prices. Especially as the 1st week was a school holiday.

It was a good 45 minute transfer to the Hotel but there is a new road just opened so it might be a bit quicker now. Our apartment was on the third block by the pool and at ground level which was a good location. The 1 bed apartment was very spacious with 2 single beds in the bedroom and 2 L shaped sofa beds in the lounge area. There was a small kitchenette and had a separate bath and large shower. There was also an additional wash basin located outside of the bathroom which came in very handy.

We were on Half Board and the food was excellent as were the staff especially those in the kids club.

There were a number of pools and an indoor one too. The beach was just across the road with a number of eateries.

If you want somewhere a bit quieter than Alcudia but still with all the amenities then this is the place for you. We would definitely go back in a heart beat.

" My wife and I really enjoyed this... "

My wife and I really enjoyed this hotel, everything about it was very nice indeed including the location of this hotel.

The apartment room was very clean & spacious and very well equipped with an excellent kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower, bedroom with king size bed and lounge all with plenty of storage space for all our belongings.
The pool was good although it was very busy every day.

We enjoyed going to the gorgeous beach just that was just around the corner along with the excellent restaurants and bars which were very welcoming and not very loud and noisy there was also a bank close by for us to get our money from the cash machine and a couple of shops for us to buy our food and drinks from.
We also had an excellent Thomas Cook Rep named Justin who made sure our holiday was enjoyable.

There were lost of excursions we went on too such as Pirates in Magalluf, a boat trip which took us to all the lovely small Cala's or "coves" along the coast etc.
Also the weather was very hot and sunny when we went in June 2005.
Mallorca is very easy to get to from where we live as we only had to jump on a plane from Southampton and we were there in 1.5 hours.
We will definitely be going again next year to this hotel.

" I went with my parents and my little... "

I went with my parents and my little bro Mart(13). When we arrived it was nighttime and from the outside the place looked very nice with it all lit up.

Inside the reception staff were all very pleasant and all spoke good English and were very attentive at all times.

The apartment was very clean and although the kitchen was small it was adequate for what we needed, and the freezer came in very handy for cooling drinks! The bathroom was the best thing I’ve ever seen!

It had 2 showers and was massive (there also NEVER seemed a shortage of hot water). The balcony only really seated 2/3 ppl but we never sat out in it because of the mosquito farm along the road, which was a shame.

The best thing about the room was definitely the air con. The pool was excellent suitable for all ages and was great for cooling down in. As per usual the regular sign on the door of "NO securing sunbeds" was ignored and to get a good spot you had to be up at 7am!!!!

The animation team at the pool worked incredibly hard during the day and at night and there shows were well worth watching. Activities for everyone! The food at local restaurants were great however we did have to travel down the road some nights but this was no problem and our car came in handy.

I would recommend a car, as the journey from the airport by bus is quite long, getting the car at the airport was also very easy through Europa! THUMBS UP!!! The Slow Boat Chinese was excellent and great value definitely recommend it. Hope you find this useful and enjoy your holiday to Prinsotel LaDorada.
" Excellent Swimming Pool, usual sunbed... "

Excellent Swimming Pool, usual sunbed hoggers, whose towels are out by 8.30am but don’t appear all day. That said it was still possible to get sunbed at any point in the day.

The Swimming Pool was massive and never crowded.

Rooms were OK, we did back on to the swamp (nature reserve!!), which presented problem with mosquitoes, so didn’t open patio, as this also turns off air-con. Did ask to change rooms from Pool side room, asked 3 times during stay and always no rooms free.

Playa De Muro, cheap restaurants close to hotel, not much character (all concrete blocks). Beach 3 minutes from hotel, over main road. Excellent beach, clean, always able to find space for beach towel, water clean and warm.

Would consider going back just for the hotel pool, or would consider a beach side (rather than swamp side) hotel.

" The apartment complex was as good as... "

The apartment complex was as good as I hoped it would be. It’s a real family place with a good mix of nationalities. The grounds are lovely and the pool is really a collection of smaller pools of various depths. There are always plenty of sunbeds so no need to get up at the crack of dawn to book one!!

There’s even an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and fitness suite.

Entertainment ranged from fair to good and included a kiddies disco every night. Everything closed down about midnight so the place was quiet after that.
Any staff we had dealings with were friendly and helpful and most spoke some English.

There’s a selection of restaurants and shops close to the apartments. However, if you want to go into Alcudia don’t rely on the buses unless you go very early in the morning. It’s almost impossible to get on one, they’re so busy.

The beach is an easy walk from the apartments and is very clean and not too busy. The water is quite rough and so is great for inflatable, body boards etc but maybe not so suitable for young children.

All in all we had a very good holiday here and would probably come back again.
