An excellent holiday! Weather, location (sea views!), eating venues (Oscars, Arizona- fab curry, etc), fabulous cocktails at Wig Wam and Charliez Very cosmopoliton, although feel that air conditioning/ceiling fans would make it that extra special. Would definatley recommend... more

Excellently situated. The room for 5 is terrible. A small 7x8 room with a double bed in it, meant for a single bed. Light switch and plug in between pillows. A nice size twin room and a put you up in the lounge. No air conditioning, told there was, cost 30 euros to hire a... more

I have just returned back from the El Greco and it was AMAZING! Myself and my partner took our 2 year old and the El Greco has got to be the best situated in Puerto Rico (LOADS of hills ~not good with a buggy!) as its situated on the road straight across from the beach.... more

We’ve been going to the El Greco apts for 2 years now. Excellent location couldn't be any closer to the beach. Brilliant night life and shops close by. My daughters been going to the Vistamar apts now for 2 years (which is next door to the el Greco) and she thinks the... more

This was the third time we had stayed at this resort, the hotel is really clean and the staff very friendly, only down side is that you have to pay 100 Euros deposit on check in which we weren’t aware of the 1st time we stayed. However this wasn’t a problem the 2nd... more

Great deal!
The best thing about these apartments had to be the location, I think they were truly the best in Puerto Rico. Our apartment, alike most others faced the beach, which was lovely. The only complaint I have is that the apartments on the right hand side of the building (alike ours) backed onto what seemed to be some kind of workshop, which may bother some, but did not affect us too much. You should also know that repairs on the hotel's grill area are being carried out and there are a few workmen around during late afternoons, but if alike us you are not interested in hanging around the hotel too much during the day, then this would not bother you. Beneath the hotel are the El Molinio restaurant and the La Cantina bar. I cannot comment on the restaurant as I did not eat there, but it looked busy every night. La Cantina served tapas which were delicious, loved the spicy meatballs and canarian potatoes with mojo sauce! We drank at the bar most evenings as we loved the staff and the strawberry daiquirs, Marcello and the guy behind the bar (sorry I could never pronounce his name) were absolutely lovely, I wanted to bring them both back home! The rooms were very spacious and offered most things that you would need, I took a travel iron with me, but found that there was already one in the room, the only thing that women may need is a hairdryer. Both pool areas were nice, the small one is apparently reserved for those in the bungalows but we did not realise this until the last couple of days when we read the first choice folder at the reception area. The bigger pool has a bar which served lovely food, and had a happy hour from 5-6, woo hoo! In Puerto Rico itself I felt very safe, I have been to a few resorts where pick-pockets etc have been rife, but I was told the crime rate on the island is very low. Many families were around and many pubs had quizzes etc which catered for adults and children. I went to the Europa centre at the top of the hill once and found it to be a bit of a waste of time, it was basically a smaller version of the puerto rico centre at the bottom which is only a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. We went to the main centre a few times but to be honest those type of places arent really our scene, so we frequented the bars around the hotel most often. Beware of some of the sunglass sellers at the centre, this isnt the only thing they sell, if you catch my drift! The places I recommend to eat are: -The Little Indian - which I must say was the best indian food i have had (Passarella centre (turn right as you walk out of the hotel) -The Chinese (next to the indian) was ok -Cafe Sol - at the end of the Passarella centre, good for homemade tasting food -Waikiki bar - lovely spanish omlette and cooked breakfast The place I WOULD NOT recommend to eat is: -The Red Rose - sloppy! We found that in Puerto Rico the prices of alcoholic drinks could be pricey, the cheapest we found was the harbour lights, where the prices were consistently low, although they did close early (around 1am) quite often. The highlights of our holiday were: - Sioux City (the set for fist full of dollars film) - around 50 euros each, but well worth it with a BBQ, free bar, country & western music, show, and free time to walk around the set, both adults and kids seemed to love it - a chance to be a cowboy or gal! -The Big Red - A really fast jet boat, if your a watersport lover, this is a must, although the guy says he talkes you for 25 min, were convinced it wasnt that long! -Puerto de Mogan - we caught the ferry there & back for 10 euros on market day (friday), it was stunning, although beware of the prices on the stalls, if your not a good haggler, you'll need to learn! -Comedy show - we went to the club Tango near the main centre to see this, but she seemed to do her rounds in a few bars, she was hilarious, but a note to you men, dont move from your seats! -Crazy golf - a couple of courses dotted around Things we would NOT recommend is: -Hiring your own speedboat from the beach, its tiny, and luckily nothing happened to us, but you would be liable for any damages, even though she doesn't inform you of this at the time. -Taking the bus - the drivers are crazy! We went to Playa del Ingles, and weren't that impressed with the place in all honesty. -Walking under the underpass, there seemed to be a few scams going on under there, it is easily avoided as you can walk above it. All in all a great holiday, I have just highlighted a few things so that yours is even better, it is commercialised, and much of the food is the same wherever you go, but if you dont mind this you will have a fantastic time just like we did, oh and say hello to Marcello and his crew!
Marcello the Marvellous
We stayed in the el greco apartments from the 9th-16th of june, and our overall stay was fantastic. The location was first class situated at the bottom of the hill which thankfully meant no steps, this is a big bonus in puerto rico!!!! all the apartments have sea and pool views. oh yes and also the beach which is just over the road. The good thing about the el greco is that it is considerably quiet both day and night, but is just a 5 minute walk from the main centre were all the clubs, pubs and eateries are found, it is a real banging place. eating out, well what can i say other than incredible! i can honestly say i have never had better food on holiday, and as i travel very frequently this is a big compliment. during the day for breakfast or lunch the pool-side bar is excellent. also the row of restaurants beside the accomadation are good particularly 'bit-burger'. at nite 'el molino' which is el greco's restaurant is brilliant for reasonably priced food and service from waiters which was unreal. oscars which is well known in puerto rico was also first class. we did not eat in the commercial centre, this was through personal choice, and as i am morbidly obese approximately 27 stone i preferred to stay with places that i had tried and tested. As I am a recovering alcoholic I cannot binge drink anymore (boo who) but occasionally I'll have a little tipple (yippee) and a great place to do this was La Cantina. We were greeted on our first night by a wonderful fellow named Marcello. He was the most welcoming waitor that I have ever met. He was charming and witty and really made our holiday...I was a little worried my wife was going to run away with him...heehee, only jokies. If you wish to drink with the younger crowd at the centre I would recommend Bora Bora, it was good. Overall our holiday was tremendous and it was El Greco and its staff that made it so. The rooms were cleaned daily and were spotlessly maintained. I would have no hestitation recommending these apartments to anybody and will definately return for the sun and Marcello (he's a great guy).
good last minute deal
decided we needed a last minute deal for 7 days an was allocared the el greco which was great because it was right near the beach ! only problem was only one of the three restuarants were open due to local holidays. thankfully we read reviews on trip adivor before leaving an took the extra 150.00 euros needed for the deposit. rooms were spotless an the maids were always friendlybut sadly we couldnt have our room longer so we had to vacate it at 12 midday an were walking the streets til 1.45 am the following morning. nice resort very blackpool in the sun an found 7 days was about right for us. you must take a walk to the new beach which is about 15 mins walk as it is very worth it we spent most days on there tryin to achieve a local tan haha ! we booked a shower room but would recommend that on the day you leave book very early as it it very much dog eat dog to get them. there was four showers which would of been great but other people had left them dirty an unclean for next users. all in all nice place if you just fancy a 7 day little break from it all . ps take a hairdryer
great hotel
when we arrived at this hotel we were pleased by the size of the room, and all the nesscary kitchen equipment! i have to say the staff were really nice! pool - the pool was great to get a dip in to cool down and reasonibly big! there was a in-door pool which i never seen anyone in! there was also two pool tables which was great! night life - the night life was great as well there was a pub called m&m's which was unbelievably cheep near half of the prices in any other bars! but was always packed and we found our selfs sitting outside it! and it was full of young ones which wasnt a problem! but good pub! there was also a lot of irish bars which was great 1 was called the shamrock which was brilliant entertainment! but beware of the strip clubs they are the places i would advise to stay away from! food - personaly i can say the el greco resterant was absoloutly disgusting never went back after waiting near an hour an a half on the food and when it came it was the worst food id ever seen wasnt cooked properly! how ever the mc donalds was lovley! and the well knowan oscars was lovely as well for the steaks and chips! hotel it-self - was great again v.clean staff v.frendily and also v.helpfull i would love to go back thats my second time there but the last time i stayed in a different apartments but it was away up the hill and had to taxi everywere so it was a downer1 but with this apartment you were at the heart of everything its even good for infants at the age of 1 - 5 lots for them to do like the wee kiddy rides and parks.
Best Apartments we have been too
we stayed in the el greco apartment from march 3 to march 10 2007, this been our 5th visit to puerto rico we can honestly say that this was the best place we have stayed, the el greco was very clean ( no insects). our room was cleaned daily and we received new towels daly as well. we were situated straight in front fo the beach, just across the road. its very central, near the local shopping centre restaurants bars ect. the staff at el greco were very nice and helpful. if its your first time in puerto rico this is the place to stay. if you don't like hill or cant climb them, el greco is perfect as the bungleos we stayed in have independent ground floor entrances. we also recommend la bolera restaurant near the shopping centre and the navada grill in the shopping centre for good food. we have booked for next september all ready!!!!!!!
Great Location
Me and my Boyfriend went to Cran Caneria September 2006, and we had a great time. The EL Greco apartments are a stones throw from the popular sandy beach. Next to some little gift shops and restaurants. The apartments own restaurant was called 'the grill' and the food was tasty, there was all sorts to choose from and not to expensive. The apartments were exactly what we expected, sea front location, clean rooms, and great sea view. Just a few minuets walk is the place we liked to call 'the mad house.' Great shopping during the day and at night an array of bars and clubs which stay open until the early hours. Also just around the corner was the 'famous' Amadoras beach. El Greco is a place i will defiantly stay again in future, you couldn't ask for any more rom a self catering cheap apartments.
The El Greco was fantastic nd so were the staff
The El Greco was great. Our appatment was spotless and comfortable it had I think one of the largest balconies in the complex whicih worked really well for us as there were 10 in our party. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Grill is an excellent place to eat especially the fish! but be prepared to wait, but it is worth it. just across the road from the beach! you couldn't ask for more. They do require a 150 euro deposit on arrival or you can get them to swipe your credit card. I only mention this as some holiday makers did not realise this.
Excellent Apartments
I stayed at the El Greco Apartments in Puerto Rico for 1 week from the 10th July 2006. The apartments are ideally located directly across the road from the gorgeous Puerto Rico Beach and i believe all rooms are sea/beach facing and have excellent views. The pool and pool bar are great and the staff are very helpful. The rooms (we were allocated a 2 bedroomed apartment for 2 people!) are spacious and very clean with all of the self catering amenities you could ask for. The El Greco is easy walking distance to the main commercial centre in Puerto Rico with a wide variety of bars and restaurants - we sampled plenty of them and all were excellent. I wouldnt hesitate to return to this complex, it is an ideal locaton for families, couples and groups of friends.
Visit "The Grill" resteraunt - its a must!
Arrived at 4am and wasnt expecting the "holding" deposit! We booked as a very very last minute budget get away without the kids and if we hadnt luckily taken a credit card just in case then we would have been left with very little spending money! So take it with you!!! Otherwise the rooms were spotless and couldnt be faulted on cleanliness! The maid came every day which we didnt expect and changed towels everyday. Our bed linen was only changed once but to be honest we were so hot we only slept on top of bed so they looked unslept in. The main plus of this hotel is its location - the general area around Peurto Rico is very very hilly! From this hotel you could access everything without having to take your mountaineering gear! Roll out of bed and onto beach! My biggest tip would be to make a visit to The Grill restaurant in the hotel grounds. It is easily a 5* meal and service is outstanding (just be prepared for the waiters over enthusiastic use of English colloquialisms - resist your giggles he is the most helpful man you would meet!). Ultimately it comes down to would I go back? Yes!!!
El Greco
Just got back from a really nice stay at the El Greco apartments! Booked with first choice for a week, although we had some problems to begin with, the overall stay was great, and bad bits nothing to do with the accomodation itself! We managed to book 2 2-bedroom apartments for 4 of us! the apartments are very spacious and have pretty much everything you need in them... apart from a hairdryer! It had a coffee maker, a kettle, toaster, tv, electric 2-ring hob and microwave with a grill! The view out to the beach was lovely, and literally on the opposite side of the road from the hotel! The pool is massive, plenty of room for many families, although be careful to wake up at 9 so you can reserve sunbeds!!! The maids came round every day and made up the room, they even put the roses me and my friend had in glasses of water! Towels and linen changed fairly often, not sure when exactly but every other day or two i think! There was even a courtesy room for those travelling home who hadn't got their room for any longer. This was locked with the suitcases in and also had 4 showers, toilets and changing facilities in them, although clean towels were availible with a 1 euro charge! Closely situated to the beach, we made good use of the pedalo's, speedboats and sunbeds! There are a few restaurants and shops right next to the hotel, but the main commercial centre is just a 10 minute walk up the road where there's bars, more restaurants, and even more shops!!! Would go back again and recommend the hotel to all sorts of people!
