Booked this hotel as it was described as a Boutique hotel and website pictures looked good. Unfortunately it was more like a Travelodge ... Pool wasn't very nice - and their "ecological" water treatment will stain your white bikini or shorts to a yellow colour (and it... more

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, largely based on the Elounda Palm website (fantastic work from whoever built the website!) and followed up by other customer reviews. As this was our honeymoon we booked the shared pool junior suite as a little luxury. To put our... more

We are two thirty something women who saved for a classy girlie holiday. We arrived at the airport at 8pm, when we got on the bus the rep announced he would only be staying on for three drop offs then he was going home! We were left on the coach with a Cretian driver who... more

This hotel is lovely in that the rooms are spacious and clean, the pool area is beautiful, and we had no problems finding a sun bed. We had clean towels every day, and the pool bar staff were very friendly, how ever it was let down by the food, booking half board we did not... more

My two teenage daughters and I had a wonderfully relaxing week at the Elounda Palm. The hotel was small but very stylish and modern and exceptionally clean. The pool area was well maintained with a friendly bar staff bringing drinks to your sun bed throughout the day and... more

Go 'junior' if you can
The hotel is not as nice as it looks on its website, but they rarely do. However, it was good quality for the price. Its décor is modern and bright by most Mediterranean hotel standards. The bar and restaurant, although we did not use them, looked comfortable and stylish. I’m glad that we booked a junior suite, as the views of the sea and mountains were beautiful and the standard rooms on lower floors had little privacy and garden views. The room was quite basic, but the bed comfortable, and it had some nice decorative touches. Of course you don’t go on holiday to watch TV, but the hotel could invest in a couple of English language channels – maybe just showing the news - as many of the guests while we were there were British. It was particularly good to have a private pool, although there’s nothing wrong with the main hotel’s. You do share with the next-door suite, but it was empty while we were there, so we had it all to ourselves. I was surprised that the water was so cold in September, but you did get used to it. The ‘up the hill’ location meant that it was pretty quiet and peaceful, although I think the walk would be quite tiring for older or unfit people. Having said that, a taxi’s only three Euros. Hope I haven’t sounded too negative, because we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Elounda and the hotel was a perfect base. I would recommend it, but suggest asking for a junior suite. Oh, and I’d thoroughly recommend the Olondi restaurant. It has a lovely seafront location, fast and friendly service, FRESH bread AND BUTTER, and VEGETABLE moussaka. Which was nice.
Stunning hotel!!!
We stayed at Elounda Palm from 3sept till 12sept.... The hotel was as superb as described in the other reviews.... We want to go back... right now... :-( If you want to visit the area then you better hire a car. There are lots of reliable firms who can help you out.
Great, but skip the food
We have returned today from a weeks stay at the Elounda Palm. We were fortunate enough to have one of the better rooms that had a fantastic view (room 303), but heard plenty of other people complaining that they had either no view or looked over the car park. We booked half board but wished we had just gone b&b as the food was very poor. We ended up eating out most nights just to get a decent meal. We highly recommend The Ferryman, typical slow Greek service, but fantastic food and wine. We also recommend the All In One cafe/creperie in the main square which is fantastic for drinking a late night coffee and watching the world go by. The breakfast at the hotel was exactly the same each day and was not particularly appetising. The bar area by the pool is nice, expecially if you get one of the seats in the covered area. Be careful of any added extras as we were caught out by the charge for the room safe even though there was no information in the room. Also rececption never told us anything about meal times we had to chase them for this information. One little tip, hire push bikes and cycle across the causeway and follow the road round to the right, about a mile along on the right there is the most fantastic sandy bay which is very hidden. A great way to spend a couple of hours. Be aware though that the party boats use this as a swim stop and it may get busy. All in all, a lovely hotel but was let down by the restaurant.
Wonderful part of the world!!
We stayed at the Elonda Palm for our 1st part of our Honeymoon on 28th August 2007. We are actually going to Malaysia and Thailand at Christmas as our main honeymoon but wanted a relatively cheap week in a relaxing place with good standard accom and good places to eat. Elounda has numerous harbourside restauarants that specialise in fish and the infamous Gyros (kebabs) which are absolutely gorgeous. The walk into Elounda is about 15-20 minutes but a taxi is only 5 euros. All the good properties appear to be a little out of Elounda itself. I would definitely recommend visiting Elounda and Ag. Nic (12 euro taxi) for an evening meal / entertainment simply because of all the lovely restaurantsas. The dinner is nice but it does get a bit repetitive, breakfast is also okay, very greek. We stayed in the Junior Suite and had a wonderful views across the bay and pool was perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. We stayed in room 502 which was a little set back from the other Suites and shared a pool with just one other property. The room was cleaned every morning to a good standard. All in all we had a wonderful time and the staff here, and in Crete itself were superb, couldnt do enough for you and would certainly return again. Thank you Elounda Palm!! :-)
Lovely staff and nice and quiet great to unwind
Breakfast could have been better, not as described (American Buffet) Evening meals became a bore, suggest you go B&B and explore the fab restraunts with real Greek atmoshere. Cleaning was pretty poor, dirty glasses and cups left in the room for the whole duration. Linen was poor with holes in the sheets and towels. Rooms were a good size and bright with fabulous views. We had to endure the noise of a pressure washer all day and then the pool was emptied and cleaned without prior warning and was not accessible for a whole day! with no Health and Safety, cording off the pool while empty!! Beware the small balconies on some rooms as the ballustrades are flimsy and not safe to lean on! The staff serving food and drink were the best we have ever come across and could not have been more helpful. MAKE SURE you keep a tab on your bills you run up as they leave it until the very last minute to sort out, in our case I mean the last minute, even after asking for the final bill two or three days previous.
Lovely hotel, great staff
We spent the first week of our honeymoon here and stayed in the villa for the first 5 days which is beautiful. We were in complete luxury and really enjoyed it. I couldn't find any fault with anything in the Villa and highly recommend it, particularly if it is a special occasion. We swapped to a suite for the final 2 nights which was also very nice although I am not that keen on a bed platform as I have back problems. The only downside was that you are very aware of the other people sharing the pool. But our neighbours used the pool at different times to us so it was fine. The staff at the hotel are lovely - very approachable and professional. They made us feel very special and added to a very enjoyable stay. If were back in Elounda, we would definately stay here. Food: hotel food is fine but we enjoyed Nikos Fish Bar in Elounda the most. Fantastic food and very Greek.
nice place
Spent a week at elouda palms hotel in first week of July. Lovely hotel, (not too big or too small). Food fine, lovely pool, great room (we had a "bungalow", which had it's own big balcony with a sea view). 10 min walk into town for resturant etc. Hire car recommended so you can drive to nearby beaches if you want to. Staff friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again.
Wonderful time at Elounda Palm
The Elounda Palm is a lovely hotel with great, friendly staff. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which is well worth the extra money -we shared a pool with two other suites and as they rarely used the pool we essentially had a private pool. Perfect for relaxing. Room service is also very good quality and not very expensive - about €6 for a tuna sandwich with chips. The rooms were decorated nicely with turquiose curtains etc. but essentially the rooms were the same as many greek hotel with the white washed walls. The bathroom was lovely with an excellent shower that had differing functions. The outside area was small but lovely, my only complaint would be that we did not have a parasol, which left little shade to be had in the midday sun. Elounda itself is a €5 cab ride away and is a lovely little town, with lots of different restaurant and a not-to-hectic night life. There's lots of great seafood and fish to be eaten. I would recommend a restaurant called Marilena's which service the best king prawns!! Overall this hotel is excellent value for money, and the only place I manged to find where you could get a (semi) private pool for this price. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back to one day.
fantastic hotel
Stayed for 5 nights in early June. What a great place. Probably the best Greek hotel I've stayed in. Lots of other more expensive complexes in the area, but looking on thier websites don't apeal that much. Booked a 'Superior Bungalow' - Well worth the extra few Euro. Had a huge outside patio with wooden sun loungers (no cushions - that's the only complaint), small table and chars, and fantastic views out to see and the local islands. Room cleaned every day by the two cheeriest maids I have ever known. In fact all the staff were very attentive and friendly and spoke as friends rather than customers. Its about a 20 min slow, downhill walk into Elounda and 5 euro taxi back. If you want complete relaxation, stylish designed rooms and perfect service - I recomend this hotel.
Fab and modern hotel
Stayed 5 days at the Elounda palm in early June. We had a junior suite with sharing pool. Highly recommend it! The room was lovely with white walls and turqoise details (paintings, cushions, drapes over bed) - very funky. You open the doors to the terrace and are hit by an amazing view over the sea and the mountains! The outside space has a covered area for shade where you have a table and chairs and then a few steps down to the sun loungers and the pool. We shared the pool with one other room but the pool is semi divided by a stone wall so you hardly ever see the other people next door. The hotel also have a communal swimming pool, pool bar/snack bar, indoor bar, restaurant, ping pong table and pool table. We had dinner a few nights in the restaurant at a very reasonable price of 14 euros pp for a buffet that was very good. Everybody at the hotel is very friendly. They only have 65 rooms so it is not a huge complex and you see the same staff more than once and they always make you feel welcome. There is no mini bar in the room but there is a fridge which is great since you can go into Elounda and stock up on drinks and water - much needed since it is HOT! We had 30 degrees C every day when we were there! Great holiday and would definately go back! Cheers Malin
