"  I only gave a one as no negative... "

I only gave a one as no negative score was available. This was the worst experience of my life, the only good point being the promptness of the housekeeper after my first call, after that is downhill all the way.

Carpets and upholstery absolutely disgusting, bedroom door warped, not closing properly, angle of showerhead no use to anybody, lights not working, dead insects inside light covers, unsafe hand railings, no room for travel cot after being told I was bringing one, mould on curtains and suspicious wet patch on mattress (I think that is everything)

Phoned and complained at 4 o clock, housekeeper there in 10 minutes, telling me it would be sorted within the hour. Had to phone again four hours later, waited another hour, mattress was replaced, another hour and we got new curtains, by now after 10 o clock, day one gone.

Sunday waited all day, phoned at 4 o clock, waited at least another hour, carpet and upholstery "shampooed", another day gone and still not left caravan. Monday morning, six o clock, by now been up 3 hours with a sick child, an almighty bang as a car smashed into the caravan.

Now comes the only acceptable bit, security were actually really nice and helpful, keeping us up to date with proceedings. Now comes the only time we got out, having to take our sick child to hospital, returning before lunch.

Another phone call 2 to 3 hours later to see if they were moving us, only to be told the caravan had been checked and was safe (I don't believe it had been) he wods final straw and camels back came to mind. 4.30 I was back at reception asking for a refund or a move, woman next to me also complaining about mess. Told to take a seat, glad I didn't, instead gave them an hour to get somebody down to see me or I was off and reporting them to environmental health the following day. 3 hours passed, still no sign, so back to reception with key and telling them I was going to carry out my threat.

Two minutes down the road my phone rang, prompt service at last, pity it was too late, I was off, and did make that phone call the next day.

" Myself and my husband and 3 children... "

Myself and my husband and 3 children stayed at Craig Tara for 1 week, we had booked a 3 star caravan as we looked on it that we wouldn’t actually be spending that much time in the accommodation.

We arrived at the site at 1pm, so by the time our keys were collected from reception at 3.30 we were glad at the thought of sitting down and having a cuppa, but arriving at the caravan we found the cleaners were still there cleaning the place after the previous occupants.

The caravan wasn’t cleaned to my standards but then maybe I’m just a little fussy, there were cigarette burns on the sofas but this wouldn’t put me off the site itself , id just be sure to book a higher level of caravan for my next stay.

We also discovered that we had no dining table, a bit awkward when you have 3 kids , we reported this to reception immediately and they assured us we would get one straight away and when they couldn’t follow this through we were given vouchers to eat for free for 3 nights in the restaurant which was excellent customer services.

Upon checking out after the week’s holiday we still hadn’t got our dining table so I spoke to the manager who was most helpful and she has given us a great deal for next year so top marks for customer services again!

We will return to Craig Tara again , we had a wonderful holiday , plenty for the kids to do and great entertainment for the adults in the evenings , the fun stars are wonderful , really friendly , I will def return to this site .

" Just back from Craig Tara and the... "

Just back from Craig Tara and the caravan and facilities where filthy! We had booked 4 nights and came back after the 3rd afternoon.

When we arrived in our 4star caravan it was disgusting, there was cigarette burns on the carpets, the kitchen floor was sticky, the kitchen utensils where disgusting. I was there with my friend and our children ageing from 8,7,2,2.

The Bonga Wonga Club which is for the smaller children, you had to be up and there at 5pm just to get a seat.

I thought the reception staff where very unhelpful, I think the whole park needs to be shut down including the food outlets and giving a good clean up!

" Kid’s entertainment was great for... "

Kid’s entertainment was great for age group 2-11. Playground good also. My kids enjoyed the holiday.

Upon arrival my linen bag was missing its pillow cases so I advised customer services by phone, I told them I could use my own pillow cases.

Upon check out when I brought my linen to the linen office, I advised them there were no pillowcases, they lectured me saying I should have advised them when I checked in, I told them I advised customer services and they did not tell me there was a separate building for the linen services, and that I was suppose to tell them instead.

As if I was going to steal their old faded brown combination pillow cases.

The carpets were dirty, with dog or cat hair embedded everywhere and just plain dirt.

The settees had 1 inch cuts and holes in the upholstery and the upholstery on the stools were even more dirty. The couch sunk down noticeably when you sat down, I am of average size.

The cutlery drawer was dirty with lots of crumbs, and the bread knife and the paring knife handles came off when I was using them, they gave me new ones, when I brought them to customer services.

Our television was not operational on our 2nd day and they could never get it fixed during our stay. The gardener had run over the cable box outside with his trimmer therefore we could get no reception. They said we could move, but we had already unpacked the previous morning.

My four year old daughter stepped on a condom lying on the pathway. The shower goes hot/cold the whole time. When I wanted to talk to the manager upon checking out, I was told she was on the phone and to fill out a comment card.

The moral is - you get what you pay for. Never again.

" Of all the holidays I have ever been... "

Of all the holidays I have ever been in my life, this was the filthiest accommodation/eating facilities myself or my family have ever had the misfortune to endure.

I have only rated this holiday 1/10 because I could not give it a sore of 0/10.

We paid £229 of very hard earned money for our 3 night break and this was supposed to be a special treat for my wife’s birthday. It took me about 45 minutes to find the 1 lady in the whole camp who had my keys to the chalet. Very poor sign posting giving little or no direction to her. In hind sight I wish I had never found her and just went home.

Anyway once we had our keys, and bursting with the excitement of spending the weekend together as a family (Not something we get to do often - due to work commitments) we ventured over to our chalet - what can I say - it was disgusting and filthy and with 2 kids, certainly never represented "family accommodation"

As it was getting quite late we decided to go and get dinner at what Haven like to call a "Restaurant" - more like a greasy spoon, this place was in dire need of a proper clean, the carpets were filthy, the plastic covers on the table were sticky, the staffs uniforms looked as though they had not seen a washing machine for about 2 weeks, and we have not even got to the food yet. The food was presented with next to no effort, the salad bar was garbage, the main meals were garbage, the desserts were garbage and the soup was garbage.

After our meal we made our way to the Reception desk to ask if there were any upgrades available - the lady who served us was clearly not interested at all, and advised us that the camp was full.

After the worst nights sleep of my life - due to the neighbours upstairs fighting all night and smashing the windows, we went for breakfast - big mistake - this was even worse than the evening meal. At lunchtime we left the camp and went to Frankie & Benny's up the road - cost us 40 quid but it was worth every penny.

That night we went back to the restaurant - different night, different food, but still garbage - at that point we had come to the end of the line - after 1 night Haven had broken our spirit - it was time to go home.

My advice to anyone considering going to Craig Tara is - don’t. Save your money and just do daytrips around about. You will have a better time.

" My family and I went to Craig Tara in... "

My family and I went to Craig Tara in March and what can I say - filthy.

We arrived and got our keys for the chalet. The chalet was disgusting, it still had the bed linen and rubbish and towels and whatever else was on the floor from the previous occupants.

When we went back to the reception to complain the receptionist could not off cared less.

The food was disgusting, the swimming pool was closed, the toilets in the bar were not cleaned and the bins were overflowing in babies nappies.

Thank goodness we only suffered this place for three nights. Never again.

" Check in was abysmal. It took us 6... "

Check in was abysmal. It took us 6 hrs to get there and we had to spend another 45 minutes queuing to get our key. Made worse by staff sat talking behind the counter when they should have been working.

The Scottish no smoking rules are completely ignored - People smoke everywhere including the staff. I counted 38 cigarette ends on the short walk from my apartment to the pool.

The most miserable staff I've ever seen in my life.

Crazy prices - For example they have a very small bowling alley for which they expected me to pay £2.50 per person - No wonder it was empty. There is a charge for absolutely everything once you’re in.

Tried a meal in the restaurant but it was very much like school-dinners. It all tasted the same. Quality was very poor.

Good points - Pool is great and Scotland is brilliant.

" We are just back from a 4 night stay... "

We are just back from a 4 night stay at this park. It was fantastic.

We stayed half board in a bronze apartment and it cost £129 for the 4 nights. The apartment, although basic, was very spacious and very clean.

We had a room with a double bed which had TV in and another room with two single beds plus a little hallway and a bathroom (no bath walk in shower). Each bedroom had a cupboard and there was another in the hallway.

The park was very clean and the grass was freshly cut.

Food in Turnburry Gardens restaurant was fine, it did look a bit canteeny as you take a tray and go along and pick what you want (eat all you want). We would fill up at breakfast then have a coffee at lunchtime and eat dinner when the restaurant re-opened at 5 o'clock.

We didn't use the Atlantic showbar as we have two young children (4 and 15 months) and their entertainment was provided in the Bonga Wonga bar.

The entertainment for the children was superb, loads of singing, dancing jumping around etc and of course the characters came on and done a pantomime type show, then you could have your photo taken with one of the characters.

Once the children’s entertainment was finished there was a cabaret for the 'grown ups' but children were still welcome to stay in the venue and all jokes etc were 'clean' or they went above the children’s heads (think Simpsons).

We didn't use the Burger King or Fish & chip shop but I think they are overpriced and the chip shop sells frozen chips not homemade.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The funstars included everyone and really showed the children (and adults) a good time.

The reception staff were very helpful as well. The staff in the restaurant were really really fantastic, they chatted away and cleaned the tables after you so your table never got cluttered, also as lunch isn't included in the half board deal they would give the children croissants and bananas to take away for lunchtime.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Craig Tara (so much so we booked up again for October).

" After reading reviews on this site I... "

After reading reviews on this site I was really hesitant about visiting Craig Tara - we were here five years ago and liked it but I was really put off by this.

However we had an excellent holiday. The entertainment was good, the kids had plenty to amuse them and staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Our silver van wasn't the best we've ever stayed in but it was nice enough and clean.

Someone came in just an hour or two after we'd checked in and asked if everything was ok for us and then again on the Friday we were asked if our accommodation was alright.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but burger king and the fish and chip shop were fine - a bit pricy but you expect that on holiday.

Overall we found the park to be very pleasant and clean, there were always gardeners and staff out in the morning picking up rubbish and maintaining the areas, which were well laid out and spacious, unlike some caravan parks where the accommodation is crammed in together.

Would definitely recommend this park and we'll definitely be back.

" I had booked a half board holiday at... "

I had booked a half board holiday at Craig Tara in October. I had booked a total of seven adults and thirteen children.

We paid for four chalets and requested that they be allocated together. My mum phoned a week before the holiday to confirm this. She was told that it would be ok.

When we arrived at Craig Tara, we were told two different locations to get our keys.

When we eventually got them, the four chalets were located very far apart. When we complained the staff said that there was nothing they could do.

This really disappointed me. There was no flexibility. The chalets were however clean and the park had lots of facilities for teenagers.

One of the main reasons for booking this camp was the fact that it had a soft play room for under 4's. We had three kids who were under 4 and were looking forward to them visiting this area.

The brochure stated that it was open daily from 9-12 and 2 -5. We arrived at 10am and it was closed. We waited for 20 minutes then decided to head to reception to ask why it was shut.

The lady stated that it was only open weekends from 10-12 and 2-4. She rang a member of staff who came and opened it. The brochure and website should be amended to reflect these new times.

Although Craig Tara is good value for money, there should be more facilities for under 4's.

The restaurant however was excellent and so was the evening entertainment.

Overall it was an enjoyable holiday.

" My husband and I booked a holiday at... "

My husband and I booked a holiday at Craig Tara for five days and after only two days we are back home, it was the most terrible holiday we have ever been on.

First of all on day one we had paid for bed linen, which was not there, so my husband had to go and collect it. After being told we had linen the person decided to give my husband another pack.

We had no kettle so husband had to visit reception once more, then all our lights fused, it was horrible.

We also had a caravan at the bottom of the park, after asking us our age which is nearly seventy, we had half a mile to walk to the main buildings.

Ssorry Haven, we won’t be back.

" I have been to Craig Tara 3 times and... "

I have been to Craig Tara 3 times and its one of the best holiday parks ever.

1. It has day and night time entertainment which is immense. There are kids clubs go karting, and other things to do like mini golf also there is a fab swimming pool which is so big and really clean.

2. If you go half board you get your breakfast and tea and the food is great and they also have vegetarian options.

3. There’s a local shop on site where you can get things for during the day like snacks and sweets.

4. There a really good arcade for children.

5. Theres 2 entertainment rooms one for all the family and the bonga wonga where the children can have fun with the funstars.

Seriously, I would recommend Craig Tara, you would want to go back again!

" Went to Craig Tara for a long weekend... "

Went to Craig Tara for a long weekend with my husband and son who s 12. Stayed at friend’s caravan which was great.

We all had a great time as there was so much to do. The funstars were excellent especially John who made my son's holiday.

He was really great at entertaining the kids and he was so funny to. The entertainment for the kids was brill.

My husband and I spent time together happily knowing our son was having the best time ever.

I recommend Craig Tara as the funstars and entertainment were brill.

" I don’t know what people are on... "

I don’t know what people are on about! Craig Tara was brilliant for me.

I understand people have a few problems, but you get that absolutely anywhere, I had a brilliant time.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was absolutely brilliant.

The accommodation ( silver ) was top class for me and my family. My kids thought it was excellent, a bit expensive, but then again your on holiday.

I would recommend it any time and shall be returning many more times.

" I go to Craig Tara every year for 1... "

I go to Craig Tara every year for 1 week and have done since my children were small.

I used to go when it was Butlins every year with my parents and sisters. It’s never going to be what it was in the Butlins era but you get what you pay for.

It’s a bargain holiday.

The only complaint I have is one year our chalet was not as clean as it should have been, but in all the times we’ve been that’s not bad.

The half board food is excellent and there’s a lot of choice as well, the coffee/tea machines are excellent as well.

The staff in the restaurant are all very pleasant and helpful.

Roll on September 2007 for our next holiday, there is sixteen of us coming so you must be doing something right.
