" We stayed in a standard chalet and... "
Submitted By: Miss E WardThe staff we found mostly all had a bad attitude and didn’t have the time of day for you. When we arrived there was no welcome team waiting and was left to find our own way about.
The funfair and bobs yard were opened limited hours many of the staff didn’t understand English so therefore just ignored us.
The nightlife was ok but not much to do for adults only as limited nursery services.
There was people walking around the resort smoking drugs which I do not find suitable on a family break where there are young children and babies.
I have written a letter of complaint which is currently being investigated and am awaiting a response overall a very disappointing holiday as had such a fab time at the Minehead resort last year. Wouldn’t recommend it to anybody would travel to either of the other resorts.

Submitted By: Miss K CollinsEveryone was left to find all facilities themselves as no instructions were given. As we collected our keys we found there to be a large number of people lost, as there were no directions given to the Accommodation either. As we finally arrived at our chalet we found a birds nest in the extractor fan in the bathroom, which you can imagine doesn't exactly help you sleep at night with birds chirping.
Once we complained about this problem we were told it would be solved basically ASAP, it was not. Come the Friday morning as we left, it was still there stinking the place out even though another complaint was made on the Wednesday. On another occasion, we were in the arcade that is located in the pavilion and one of the doors off an arcade machine fell onto my daughter aged 18 months, revealing the electricals. Fair enough they gave her a little teddy (tacky) but it's not the point.
They also employ a lot of foreign people who speak little English and simply ignore you because they do not understand. Butlins stated that they had zero tolerance when it came to drugs, but yet again to our disgust the amount of people smoking drugs was shocking, don't forget this was a week aimed for children. Overall our experience at Butlins Skegness was rubbish. We will never choose to go again and simply advise others also not to.
Our complaints are being investigated.

Submitted By: Mrs Jm BlaqckThe next accommodation was much nicer and you were able to move around a bit whereas the previous chalet was so small it was pathetic. Funfair was good if not a bit repetitive after second day.
On the whole though a good reasonably priced holiday just keep it a bit more clean i.e. accommodation and swimming pool areas, the waiter Richard and the other bloke with him were both lovely.

Submitted By: Mrs A OrtonThe entertainment was superb. The Redcoats are Fantastic (my eldest daughter aged 14 has now decided she wants to be a redcoat when she is older so watch this space). Overall I would like to thank Butlins for a really enjoyable holiday once again, we are definitely going to be back this year.
P.s I have got 2 say hi 2 ex Redcoat Tilley who is now BUD in the skyline gang and Redcoat Kim as I told them I was doing a review and they said they would read it so 'HI' to them.

Submitted By: Miss AS SaundersThere’s a market in the village next to the resort which is only a bus ride away unless u prefer to drive, the market has a fair in it with a rollercoaster going through the market stalls.
The resort is a quick walk away from the beach so really it is a good place to good for a short holiday break if your interested in that sort of thing.

Submitted By: R SummersThe food was very nice but they didn’t seem to make enough as always ran out. The times for meals were good as had a couple of hour slot so you weren’t restricted to when you have to go.
The facilities were good funfair & bob the builder yard kept my daughter entertained for a day. We also did the bob the builder party which cost £25 we thought it was really good value for money as you get a back pack full of bob the builder goodies & a photo with Bob & Wendy, you also get party food & games with bob and smile on daughters face when saw bob was priceless. We unfortunately didn’t go swimming because we had a 3 week old baby but pool looked clean & fun. We went bowling which was average price for bowling anywhere which is pretty good for Holiday Park. Take away prices & supermarket food pretty reasonable for Holiday Park. The red coats were all friendly & always stopped to talk to us.
The entertainment was also good for time of year, just started a bit to late for people with young children, we didn’t find reds bar until the third night which is probably a better place to go with young kids as entertainment starts around 7pm and a big plus is it is a no smoking bar which as a non smoker I thought was brill.
The only cons I found about the holiday was there was no where to bath our 3 week baby as only shower in bath room, and they only provided us with a travel cot & not Moses basket which meant baby in bed with us. Also I was kicked out of accommodation for cleaners to clean cooker & shower & was told couldn’t return for 3 hours, I wouldn’t of normally been bothered but was ill & cant understand why they couldn’t wait until we left.
The park itself could probably of done with a tidy up as seemed a bit dirty. I would also like to add that often people think that you cant go to Butlins with a budget as everything is over priced, we were on a very tight budget with just having a baby and only had under £200 spending money & with this we went out every night and had a couple of take always & a trip into Skegness itself.
All in all Butlins is a great holiday for families and people alike if you want a holiday to rest without children around this is not somewhere to go, but most people already know this as far as Butlins is concerned.
I must admit that it was first holiday in Britain for long time but totally restored my faith in cheap but enjoyable British holidays. I would go back again

Submitted By: Mrs G HammondThere is a bus stop situated outside the resort, taking you to the town centre, beach and funfair, all of which is reasonably priced.
Would definitely recommend this resort to other families and am considering booking again for this year.

Submitted By: Mrs D JacksonButlins has great entertainment for adults, and children, lots to do and you don’t have to keep feeding your kids money all the time.
Skegness lovely clean seaside resort, friendly people, lovely beach where you can walk for miles.
Very nice town, recommend the seal sanctuary, lovely place to visit, watch feeding time for the seals, excellent value.

Submitted By: Mr G S HobsonWe opted for a self-catering silver apartment. Room sizes were good throughout and reasonably well decorated, furnishings and appliances were all adequate and in good condition.
The resort was generally clean and tidy. The attractions varied from free, to what, in my opinion, was overpriced. Family orientated night time entertainment is good, with acts for the children being followed by music or comedy for older children and adults. The swimming pool was very clean and well presented, having just been refurbished. The on site shops offer most goods you would require on a short holiday.
There are plenty of options for eating out from fast food to restaurants all of which are clean and reasonably priced. The cinema is small and as such has a limited amount of films showing, usually the films shown are family orientated.
Staff, (this is a strange one). Red coats are happy smiling entertaining and helpful, most other staff are of an average customer service standard, and an alarming percentage of the remainder are unattentive, unhelpful and seem genuinely bitter that you are on holiday and they are working, a small number of staff (3 or 4) during our stay were so rude it was almost comical, almost!
For what is pitched as an "All in" holiday, you could find yourself paying for a lot of entertainment.
The kids enjoyed it immensely and that was the reason for going, so I guess the holiday did what was required of it.
In closing, (in my opinion) Butlins can be seen as a family fun filled escape, or an unnecessarily expensive, style over content waste of time, personally I'd say the good outweighed the bad and we might go again, but it would for the children’s enjoyment rather than our own.
7/10

There is also a free fair there, but I couldn’t go on any of the rides as I am pregnant but there are a lot of stalls or bandits to go on as well. There are quite a few amusements. I think Butlins maintain a very high standard of working towards giving people the best holiday ever.
" I have never stayed at Butlins... "
Submitted By: Miss M BrookesThere was something to do for all ages. I was expecting that some of the shows or entertainment to be perhaps cancelled or restricted, as it was getting towards October, but I was wrong. This made no difference at all, the site was in full swing, plenty of entertainment for all ages, they have plenty of eating areas diners etc, plenty of pubs clubs etc, you was spoilt for choice of what to next. The staff were very pleasant, who ever you spoke to, if they couldn’t help they would find some one who could.
We were in a standard accommodation, and standard it was they hadn’t made it out to be any more than it was, and it was better than I had stayed at before thought it was really good how they provide you with starter packs in you accommodation for when you arrive, I have never got this at any other places I have stayed, i.e.- they gave you kitchen pack, consisting of tea cloth, dish cloth pan scrubber & small bottle washing up for starter also coffee & tea starter pack too. Made our arrival more welcoming.
And the general tidiness of the park was out standing, there was always staff about, sweeping round pavilion, inside &out, eating drinking area’s were kept up to standard, and the outside area to accommodation and to activity areas was kept immaculate, I was really surprised at the overall tidiness of the site. Also, the toilet facility blocks were kept well maintained. Plenty of car parking spaces available through out the site
I was amazed at the fact that the beds were already made up ready for our arrival. There was only really one moan I have of the site is that bedding is only the bear minimum, and perhaps ok for summer use, as costal areas drop chilli in evenings and when later in season, bedding could do with being thicker or extra’s available, as electric heating cuts in & out at its leisure, some times can fell chilly, but apart from that, I found my stay to be a very pleasant one! Congratulations Butlins...

Submitted By: Mrs A JonesMy son 6 had a fantastic time - the fun fair was a bonus as it was free and most of the rides had seatbelts for younger children. The only downside of the funfair was the height restriction my son was allowed to go on the 'rockin tug boat' at the pleasure beach on his own but at Butlins he had to be accompanied by an adult! luckily my friend is o.k with rides (I hate them!) so she took my son on them.
The outside free kids play area is rubbish - hardly anything to do an surrounded by great activities you have to pay for.
We didn’t eat on complex - but we did get snacks and drinks which were quite pricey but you expect that. There were lots of local shops and restaurants in Skegness that were very reasonable if you have transport.
We had a really good holiday and couldn’t fault the accommodation - maybe because we were out of season. I was in gold self catering last year and again had no problems but again it was out of season. I would definitely go back - my son wants to live there!
The big tent is fantastic and always something happening. When we were there, we saw wrestling and circus spinning. We went to the movies and ate out every evening as there is something for everyone. Harry Ramsdens, Burger king and various restaurants.
The pool is great but very humid inside, the outside one was closed when we were there as it wasn’t that hot.
We also went to the cinema which is also on site. The rooms were lovely like little flats. Bedrooms were huge as were the rest of the rooms. Highly recommend to all.
