As we are premier members check in...
8 / 10
Sep 2005, Mrs D L Bowen

As we are premier members check in was pretty speedy and is definitely better than previous years when we had to queue for hours. There was 5 of us in the party and we booked a silver plus bungalow which had three bedrooms and was clean and spacious for our stay and close to all the amenities.
However I felt the entertainment let the break down as we have been going to Butlins for the past twenty years and this was by far the worse holiday to date. The programme stated the swimming pool was open till 7 o clock but when we arrived in the pool just after 5 most of it was shut and only the wave pool and flumes were open. Then by 6 o clock everyone was told to leave as the pool was shut. Also in centre stage the shows were ones we seen a few times over the past couple of years and bands that were in the charts 4 maybe 5 years ago. I think they need to review they entertainment programme to accommodate new shows or people will stop going back there.
The staff were excellent though and really friendly especially the redcoats in the kids clubs and they recognised my son straight away from previous holidays and were really nice to him. We have another break booked for next year and hopefully we wont be disappointed and will keep going back for years to come.

We have just come back from a week in...

Sep 2005, Mrs K Baker

We have just come back from a week in Butlins Minehead, and had a great time we went with family and friends twenty of us in all, when we booked the holiday they were really helpful, we asked if we could all be together on the site and they made sure we were, the worse thing about the holiday is the first day when you have lots of people trying to book in at the same time [I THINK THEY NEED TO REVEIW THIS] but after you have got over the stress of all this it gets better.
The accommodation was average, but cleanish, but this is Butlins, the price was really good we always go half price week, the food in our parties opinion was very good, nice choices, always hot, and the staff really friendly, breakfast was the best, and they did not rush us out over our endless cups of tea and chat.
the entertainment for the younger ones is excellent, but our teenagers were bored after the first couple of days, but can you please teenagers anyway, the new attraction that they did seem interested in was far to expensive, [the climbing - assault course]
The evening entertainment was most enjoyable, more so if you got involved, a glass of wine always helps, this really is a family place.
the beach across the road was beautiful, and we had a couple of lovely days just mucking around, the bars all seemed good, but if you enjoy a nice coffee and some where away from the kids try the yacht club [Costa coffee] you cant go wrong.
Nice shops in Minehead, try the creamery for lovely cream tea ect, we had a most relaxing week this was enough for us, and we were ready to go home, but all in all we love good old Butlins. just one more thing the staff there are really helpful and nice. go and enjoy your selves.

Booked silver accommodation as we booked last minute and this was the best available. First offer of an "upgrade" to an apartment from a silver room was a disgrace. When I complained we were offered a room closer to the amenities which was much better. Staff were understanding and fairly helpful. Entertainment was good especially the Scottish compare.
The food wasn’t too bad and the amenities good. We had fabulous weather and managed to get into Minehaed and onto the beach. The Tesco down the road meant we could go out and buy cheap drinks if we wanted a night in!
Overall great holiday and would go back if it wasn’t so far away from home!

Stayed in Gold accommodation which...

Jun 2005, Mrs K L Burgess

Stayed in Gold accommodation which was lovely and clean and spacious, we had a large terrace area at the front with a table and chairs on which was fab! Entertainment was brilliant kids loved it and all the shows at night.
The weather was great while we were there so we went a walk into Minehead town and came back down to the beach the town is stunning. Its nice that the beach is only over the road from Butlins as well.
Kids loved the free fair and outside Fort area, although inside I feel there are a bit too many "money" taking machines for the kids to be tempted by, teddie machines etc lots of tears!
The only downside was the food in the restaurant it wasn’t poor but it wasn’t at the top of the scale, sometimes felt like a works canteen! lots of people in there scuffling around for dinners.
Overall we had a brilliant time this is our 4th visit but would definitely go in the top accommodation again as it does make your stay more comfortable. We would recommend Butlins to anyone with kids as ours prefer to go here than abroad! but I’d opt for self-catering next time, at least then you can go in Pizza Hut all the time! mmmmmm!

May 2005, Mrs LJ Roach

Wasn’t really my cup of tea but the kids loved it so much we’re going to Skegness in December! For me there were too many amusements and too much organised 'fun' and not enough quality restaurants/quiet entertainment areas, but the kids (2 and 3) lived in Bob the Builder’s building yard and loved the mini discos in the evening.
The children’s facilities were fantastic and they are so excited about going back. Butlins was expensive while you were therefore snacks, drinks etc and the accommodation wasn't great - needs updating as very similar to student digs and this was in the gold! There is a Tesco across the road which is very handy as it's much cheaper and carries more stock than the Butlins supermarket. We stocked up there. The pool area was fantastic and highly recommended! The children loved the walk in hot air drier!
Butlins is right across the road from a gorgeous beach which we explored every morning before hitting the soft play area while waiting for Bob to open up!
All in all it''s perfect to keep the kids entertained ALL day and into the evening and you can chill out at night when they’ve gone to bed in the peace and quiet of your apartment. Or you can join in with the Skyline Gang if you prefer!
Good value, great for children and fab if you love non-stop bingo, amusements and redcoat fandabidozi activities!

May 2005, Miss E Deegan

We took our 8 month old and had an excellent time. The food was good and there was plenty of service areas so you were never queuing for long.
Only downsides were the lack of transport from rail station to report (we were waiting for over two hours as local bus was full first time around) and also the rooms were not very clean and were not replenished often. Entertainment was brill though.
