Edouard VII Hotel

I stayed here for 7 nights in May 2008 and had a terrible experience. (I was unable to change hotels for work reasons). This hotel looks really nice from the photos on its website, but it is definitely *not* worth the money, and you can do much better in Paris. The rooms are decent in size for Paris, but musty, old, and dirty. The wallpaper on the walls is peeling, there are stains on the carpet, and mold in the bathroom. we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Paris, and largely on account of Hotel Edouard VII * great location - easy walk to Metro, shops, restaurants, Opera, Louvre, supermarket * great breakfast - wide variety and fresh * rooms were large enough and well equipped and serviced - we were expecting them to be much smaller. some have nice views down the street to the Opera. there is some road noise, but you would expect that in the city. * tiny lift but all you need (we were travelling with a baby and still fit in a small... more

I expected much more from a 4-star hotel that charges over 400 euro per night. The website made it look very nice, and the lobby seems recently renovated. However, the rooms are in desperate need of a make-over. The carpet in my room had several stains, which made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. When I arrived, the curtains were drawn, making the room dark and highlighting the fact that the curtains weren't hanging straight, as if they'd been tugged on too often. This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. It is within walking distance to so many of the sites, so is really convenient. The hotel itself is modern and well appointed and the rooms are very well decorated (as you can see from the photos). We found the staff ulta-helpful, so there must have been some changes since some of the earlier comments. I would definately choose to stay here again next time in Paris and would recommend it without hesitation.

We just spent a week at the Edouard VII and had a fabulous stay. The Jr. Suite room had high thread count linens and very nice bathroom amenities. I dislike hotels, and they have to be ultra clean for me to feel comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to us and our 11 year old son. Very nice hotel with great service. Close to the Opera House and that metro stop. Excellent location for seeing sights in Paris. The staff was very helpful as our first night there the bed was uncomfortable and too small (lengthwise). They upgraded us for the rest of the stay to a suite (no charge). The concierge was spot on with dinner recommendations and the bell staff was very helpful. Upon arrival on a Saturday our room was not ready, but other then that we had no complaints on this place. It will be our hotel of choice in Paris.

Our recent visit to Paris with our daughter and son-in-law was wonderful except for our stay at this hotel Why? Simply put, the management seems disorganized and unfriendly, with an almost adversarial attitude toward its guests. First impressions: Upon our arrival at about 11 am, an unfriendly woman at the check-in desk curtly stated that our rooms would not be available until after 2 pm. My boyfriend and I stayed here, along with my parents to celebrate my mum's 50th birthday, for one night. Upon arrival in Paris the hotel was easy to find and a pleasure to check into. The staff were really friendly and helpful, booking us into a delicious restaurant down the road (vin & marlee) as unfortunately the hotel restaurant was fully booked. The hotel is very nice. The reception is relatively small but the lounge and bar is quite impressive and relaxing. The check-in and check-out were very quick and the staff really helpful in providing information (such as finding taxi etc...). The room is comfortable but I was given two beds instead of one large bed. Very good location close to the opera, Galeries Lafayette and not far from the Champs. Very statisfied but the price is still high even for Paris na dthis is the only Cons that I would have to mention.

Well, where do I start? Firstly to put things into perspective, I do alot of travelling and so stay in many hotels. I've stayed in 10 hotels in the last 4 weeks to give you an idea so I reached my opinion below by comparison. This hotel has been a family run business for many years until recently when a separate management team/company were brought in.
