First time away with no kids never been to crete. The apartments were very clean,i wanted an extra pillow and it was no problem at all.Very friendly. The snacks were very good in the pool bar beach very close.Loved it and would love to go back the most relaxing holiday we have had, mind you they did say it was mayhem the week before we went due to familys and lots off kids. But if you want a quiet holiday book when they are at school like we did.Lovely.

just got back from an amazing hol carl and ditsy so friendly and helpful nothing to much trouble. we have a daughter who is autistic and she felt right in place carl even had meals brought up to us from their resturant in town as we where tierd from the journey.carl makes some mean cocktails think i would of had alcholic poisening if we had stayed any longer. only downside it was the last week of the season and a lot of the places were closed. upside got a good deal on a car only 50e all in for two days.met some really nice people and had a great time.

Just returned from two weeks at the blue sky apts. Dont believe some of the awful reviews as these apartments where the cleanest i have ever stopped in in greece. The whole complex was run extremey well by ditsy and carl we could not have asked for better hosts for our holiday. We are a family of four with two young girls of 13 and ten and they adored the blue sky and the staff. The pool is kept extremely clean as is the grounds all apts are cleaned almost every day linen and towels changed every other day. The cleaner is excellent and does a top notch job of looking after the complex. Prices around gouves are approx the same where ever you go. We discovered a bakery and butchers which where cheaper than shopping in the main town supermarkets they are located right at the end of the main shopping street on either side of the main road good to know if your on a budget. Eating out firstly try blue sky pool bar as the food is lovely and the breakfasts are enough to keep you full till sunset. if you want to venture further afield Paradise beach resturant is very good family run very relaxed, excellent food and service we spent 6 nights eating there we where so impressed. And try the gyros and nescafe coffee there they are the best you will ever have !!. Blue sky is the best place i have been in years ditsy does a brill job of running it from 8 till 6 every day she is excellent at her job. Carl runs the pool bar from 6 till approx 2am and makes every one feel welcome and at home his cocktails are die for and he does a great job of keeping everyone entertained they are both a credit to the blue sky. Overall a truly lovely place to stop with excellent staff a relaxed atmosphere and once tried you will want to go back. A complex where you are made to feel like family and at home !!! Looking forward to returning next year.

Just returned from the blue sky apartments,9/10/10,me and my husband had 2 great weeks at these apartments,we read some not to good reviews before we went{how wrong was these}we were in room 105 on a s/c basis. We had kettle,2 ring hob and a microwave{we been to greese a few times and the first time we had microwave}there was all utensils for cooking, cups, glasses and knifes and forks.Ditsy runs the bar in the day{the best english breakfast in gouves 7 euro, mega breakfast}Carl runs the bar after 6{some wicked cocktails, bogof between 10 and 11}.We was made to feel realy welcome by both.We changed our £s into euros at the 'pella'supermarket,it was the best exchange rate.We had a great time and would definately reccommend these apartments, great place all round, and yes it's right you do have to buy your own loo roll after you've used your first.
Well done blue sky,all the best......

just got back from our holiday went for a week but couldnt stay for more than a week as the place was small and trips were exspensive.i have children 15 & 14 and they got charged as aldults over there but got charged as children when you book for the holiday.
the hotel itself is very small and only has 16 rooms & number 106 is down stairs and is like staying in a dungeon when we first turned up a kitten ran out of our room when we opened the door and there was no curtain up the window which was facing my children sleeping & one of the curtains was full of mould also in the bathroom on the ceiling there was lots of mould and when we told the rep and receptionist they tryed to get most of it sorted although we still had a mouldy curtain when we left.
the resort is a nice place to stay but i wouldnt reccomend the hotel itself.

Just returned from 2 weeks Holiday in Blue sky Apt. Gouves.(been to Gouves before - stayed in Klio Apt.)
My wife and I love the Greek isles and try to visit every year.We have 2 kids , 12 and 8 years old.
On first impressions I found 1 bedroom apt small and of course basic.First time weve had a microwave mind you!
2nd bed in livingroom too cramped and couldnt open patio door without moving bed.plenty of windows and to our surprise a sea view (room 206).Clean and tidy flat no problems. Safe was 36 euro for 2 weeks and air con,a must, was 76 euro.(felt sort of ripped off there but you need them).Unfortunatly the recession has effected the mosquitos and they have less pickings.
Everyone complaining this year about been bitten so at night windows are shut and air con on.
The pool was small but ok for the 24 odd rooms sharing it - clean enough and plenty beds around it.The only problem was the selfish guests getting up at 7.30 to put there towels down.
Ditsy works at the bar during the day and runs the hotel as well.(An absolute gem of a woman)Carl at night will make you a very toxic cocktail(2 for 1 between 10 and 11)
Hotel is a stones throw from everything you need and want. The greek people are having just a hard time as we are with there recession but they are very friendly.
We hired 2 quads from the place next to the hotel for 100 euro - 3 days which I think was great.A beer is around 3 euro but its in a half litre glass and filled to the top so its well over a pint.a half carafe of wine is 4 euro and cocktails range from 5 to 7 euro.A good meal for 4 with drinks is around 40 euro which is still good value I think. The greek food is brilliant and we have no complaints about the resort.the aquarium we thought was good and the water park is a great day out.(its on the top of a mountain and the views are beautiful.
The gouves beach i think is one of the best beaches ive been on and you have plenty beaches to choose from.Would I recommend Blue sky - if you like Greece then you know what to expect, again its location is perfect and very friendly, you could do worse and we met people there who go back every year.We had an excellent time there and will go back to Gouves one day. Also which I think is great,if you look closely you will see grapes lemons limes tomatoes growing every where.
You just know that June July August you are going to get 30 - 35 deg. beautiful sunshine , And the sunsets in Gouves are incredible

Under new management and they are really trying to give good service. Thank you Maria and staff. Slight problem on arrival cos there had been power cut and rooms not ready, but those magic words "please go to the bar and have a drink on us while your rooms are readied" did the trick. I was alone in a studio but adequate room for two. My daughter and friend were in a one bedroomed apartment and that again was fine. My daughter asked for a change to the shower head fitment and it was done the following morning. The shower was the hottest I had ever experienced in Greece in over 15 years of Greek island holidays. Linen changes and room cleaning fine.
Pool and pool bar area clean, comfortable and welcoming.
Best of luck for the rest of 2010.

Just back from a week in Gouves. Exactly what we had wanted. A quiet holiday with Brilliant sunshine and chilled out atmosphere.
Accomadation is basic, 2* kettle, 2 ring cooker, but clean. Bedding changed once and towels 3 times, bins emptied every day but sunday.
Everyone we came in contact with were really nice, friendly and helpful.
All staff of Apartments were great. Pool was clean, no charge for the recliners or parasols. Prices same as every where else due to the euro.
Food is really good.
As it was the start of the season, watched some restaurants cleaning one day and open the next.
Only probs where:- couldn't find any where to cash travellers cheques Rep not helpful on this point. Thank goodness there are plenty of atms.
We got some cashed in the Aphroditie Hotel, but didn;t want to ask again, as we weren't guests there.
Pavements aren't the best, large steps and dips and some roads don't have street lighting, the nights are very dark.
Went on a couple of excursions, would advise an umbrella, as at times the guide would stop to explain the history, with us standing in the blazing sun.
Gouves is perfectly placed 10mins from the airport, first drop off, last pick up.
There is the noise of planes coming in to land, but you don't notice after a while.
Aquarium 20 mins walk from Gouves, very basic.
Only walked along the beach, but it is clean and the sea is beautiful and clear.
Didn't see much nightlife, usually returned to Apartment bar after dinner at 10pm, and had drinks and a laugh there.
Places we visited regularly, Anfield Bar, Blue Sky Bar and Pella.
Shop around all the supermarkets have different prices, some items can have a price difference of 2 euros.
Big thanks to Ditsy, Lorraine, Carl and our cleaner(sorry didn't get her name)for looking after us on our holiday.

During the last week of October, my husband and I stayed at the Blue Sky in Gouves and having read the wonderful reviews on here I cannot believe its the same place! We had not chosen to stay here, we had carefully booked at the Artemis Apartments (after reading fantastic reviews), also in Gouves but received a letter from Thomas Cook only a week before our departure to say that the Artemis had closed for the season and were offered the Blue Sky - if we had chosen anywhere else as an alternative we would have had to pay an extra £300 as the prices had gone up since we booked so we risked it (despite a few dodgy reviews). We had room 103, The shower and curtain were full of black mould as was every curtain in the apartment which had an overall smell of damp. One of the beds had a hole in the sheet and the pillow case was torn, there was graffiti in the bottom of the dressing table drawer, the fridge had not been cleaned from the previous occupants and I had to scrub the plastic sink drainer before I could use it. Our rep (who left half way through our week) offered us a complaints form but I declined as this was not how I wanted to spend our week. At this point I was prepared to live and let live and just never book to come here again. What eventually tipped the boat was our final day. Our transfer coach was due to pick up up at 1.10am and we had to vacate our room by 12 noon which is normal, but the only place we could leave our cases was in the reception area which was never manned or locked, we were told we could use the toilets/shower in the basement later if we wished. The hotel notice board advertised a pizza night with video for the evening so we knew we would at least have somewhere to wait for our coach. We left our cases and went out for the day, returning at 7pm to find the place in darkness except for the reception area which was lit by emergency lighting. Another couple with their teenage son were waiting there and told us that the barman had come to open up at 6pm as usual but then someone had turned up and told him to close down and lock up, leaving us stranded with only the reception area with a 2 seater sofa for comfort. This family were waiting for a transfer which wasn't due until 3am! We decided to get changed and go for something to eat so down I went to the basement toilets - what a disgrace, the toilet bowl rim (there was no seat) was soiled with faeces which I had to clean using make up wipes as I needed to use it. This was the toilet which was used by the bar and those around the pool each day! The sink was also disgustingly filthy. After eating at a local taverna then afterwards going to a bar for as long as their hospitality and decent manners would allow, we returned to the Blue Sky at 11.30pm. Needless to say, on returning home I emailed Thomas Cook with all my complaints. I received a letter saying that they would investigate and must admit that I didn't hold out much hope as the season was over and the apartments closed. However, we recently received an apology from them along with a very generous discount voucher to be used during 2010. So it's thank you to Thomas Cook for their customer service but I'd give the Blue Sky a wide berth, especially late in the season. Gouves itself was pretty well closed for the season but I can image it's quite lively and charming in the summer. We would recommend the Filoxenia Taverna on the main street for its reasonably priced tasty food and friendly service, the Anfield bar for its fun and friendly atmosphere and Perla Car Hire run by the lovely Eleni who was always there.
