Piccadilly Hotel

We were looking forward to staying at this hostel due to the rave reviews it had received on this website, but was appalled at what we found feeding off of our bodies. Bed bugs and lots of them the size of a 1p coin!! The night staff were unfortunately very un-sympathetic nor helpful regarding the Bug infestation in our room and cold showers on our floor. it was my most horrible experience in a hostel. very dirty, fleas in the beds, mouldy showers, unfriendly staff. it might be cheap, but forget about the rest. disgusting!

What can I say about this place! Let me start by saying that I have stayed in plenty of hostel accomadation all over the world and this truly one of the worst ever. First off I just don't know where they got the pictures of the rooms featured on the particular website I booked from as our room certaintly looked nothing like the one featured. Dreadfully slow and unfriendly staff, mockery of a free breakfast (toast, instant coffee, orange juice that ran out before 9am), rooms that barely fit more than a bed, mattresses that are older than me and have springs with minds of their own, and NO ventilation. I can't stress this enough: don't stay here in the summer. There is absolutely 0 ventilation in this place and your room will be much hotter than it is outside when you're trying to sleep. The advantage of this hostel is its location, in the center of London, the perfect ever seen. It is said this hostel is cheap (12£/night) but as we took 4 beds dorm, we paid 20,5£/night which is not as cheap. Another advantage is that linen are clean, and internet is cheap (1£/hour). But at the other side, breakfast is the most horrible I have ever eaten (only 1 coffee+2 toasts), the orange juice maker did not work. And you must wait 20mn to have your breakfast. Location is great! Walking distance to most sites and right near a tube station. The rooms however are very sparse. Our "double room" had a bunk bed. But, it was clean and it worked. Some mornings the showers were great, other mornings they were cold. If all you need is the very simple basics, this place might be okay. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

I have stayed here twice, I wasnt overally impressed last year. This year.....Never again. The staff are never available and when they are unfriendly (tell me agian how much this company is worth?), reception is unattended... you have to hunt down the bag man..... Again No Hot Water ?? Common room is disgustin, worse of all they really insist that you pay for the most expensive room? Because all the other rooms are taken up? No matter what you do don't stay in this hostel. The showers are cold, the staff are rude/sleazy, the rooms are tiny, the 'breakfast' is a slice of cold toast, and the decor is shabby to put it nicely. Plus I am sure I got bitten by some kind of bed bug/flea. There are plenty of other decent hostels in London so avoid this one likt the plague!

This place was horrible! I was there is the middle of winter and had pre-booked for 12 nights: biggest mistake of my life. The heating in the rooms did not work at all and there was no hot water for showers. The shower was so cold it gave me a brain freeze. On top of everything there are bed bugs. I am not making it up the hostel acknowledged the bed bugs when all 4 people staying in the dorm broke out in huge bumps all over our bodies. The staff were rude and could not care less. Never stay here, it is just not worth the pain.

Stayed in a private 2 person room for 2 nights. Was on top floor so wasn't as loud as I expected, but the bunkbeds were very rickety and the room wasn't especially clean. The radiator was on full and making an insane amount of noise but that was ok once we'd figured out how to switch it off. Most of the showers appeared to be out of order and the ones that you could use were freezing cold, had no doors or locks and you were asked not to use them at peak times!
