" We have just returned from a 7 night... "
Submitted By: Mrs C CarrEverything was quite busy and we did have some problems accessing the entertainment which was so busy that it was impossible to get in some nights. Our sons have disabilities and are part time wheelchair users.......we did ask if we could access the entertainment area early to get adequate seating space for the wheelchair but to no avail. Most people start to que an hour before and then when the doors open it's a free for all for a seat. There is a lift to the show bar but this is slow and only takes one w/c or buggy. So although we had a good break we were a little disapointed with the disability awareness and training of staff. We had some concerns about the parking area where our car was near the sports ground. At night it was very dark and by day we saw signs that some 'hanky panky' had been going on around the area. I'll leave this to your imagination. We also have concerns about how busy it will be next year when the new hotel opens. On the whole though when you compare this to Butlins rivals this again wins hands down. I have had a bit of a moan here but lets be honest my gripes, in the grand scheme of things, are minor ones. The good bits of our holiday by far outweighed the bad. Thanks Butlins........see you next year!!

" Butlins is great for the kids, well... "
Submitted By: Mr R ClarkeThe entertainment in the main Skyline was great and the kids (6&7) both enjoyed it however other parts of the entertainment are decidedly lacking.
The pool, at the height of the summer holidays expect at least an hours wait to get into the pool then you queue for each slide once in there, the pool is great it is just that they have too many people on site for the size of the pool, this is due to increase next year as they are building another hotel.
Fairground rides, these consist of 5 rides, 4 of which your grandparents may have been on, I kid you not they are ancient, the paratroopers - very old and will not operate if there is much of a wind, Dodgems again very old and on the Sat they had 2 faulty cars and by the Thursday over half were out of order, Spinning top never got to go on this as it was not working all week, carousel again old but at least they can cram the people on so not too much of a wait. The newest ride is a tug boat, this was so busy that it kept tripping out every couple of hours, they then had to wait half an hour then it started again. Since last year the outdoor pool has gone, the large play fort has been replaced by a small play area less than 1/4 of the size, all to make room for the new hotel.
The problem is that we go on holiday with expectations and Butlins are no longer fulfilling them, they are cramming more and more people on site with fewer and fewer facilities (when the day visitors are let in at 10 every morning the queues double). Don't get me wrong the holiday for the kids was great the entertainment was good, however the kids club activities were for the most part poor.
Overall a holiday that is best sampled in small doses, a 3 or 4 day breaks would be better, also if you can try out of season.

" never again, this is the worst... "
Submitted By: Mrs E Thomasthe appartment was so smelly, and dirty and the bedding was not clean, curtain pole was broken which dropped down and hit me across the head on the first night, ran over by a go kart outside by the front door entrance, you need to take out insurance just to walk around the place, several of the rides were not working over the whole weekend and they shut early evening so we found the evenings very boring as with a 2 year old the evening shows were not a good idea with her running around. food was very expensive and not very nice so all in all it was horrible and i wouldn't recommend this even to my worst enermy.
the biggest problem and complaint was the cleaness of the swimming pool, it is disgusting, changing rooms were horrible with ladies tampax tubes on the floor for my toodler to pick up is absolutely not acceptable, there were far too many people in there, when you left the pool it took over half an hour to get a changing room as we needed a family one with a 18 month baby.
couldn't call it a holiday as it was so stressful and my 7 year old didn't enjoy it either. bring back the old butlins which was great for the whole family with cleanness and happy staff!!
we will never return, always said never say never, BUT NEVER AGAIN
its not cheap and its a total waste of time and money, i think its safe to say WE HATED IT!

Submitted By: Mr S HolidayThe food was very good and always piping hot but sometimes we struggled to get a seat therefore the food was cold by the time you get seated because it was just me and my 4 year old we couldn't bagsy a table so to speak!
The entertainment was fab with something going on all day and night. Drinks were very expensive £3.05 a pint (If weathersoons can do it why can't Butlins) The swimming pool was great too but we were gutted as the wave machine wasn't working all weekend! overall we had a cracking weekend at butins we came home a little poorer and knackerd but with some happy memories!

Submitted By: Mrs K ToffelWell i booked a 2 bed room silver plus chalet - it had been re-furbished and was although quite basic it had what you needed for your stay. I also looked into a room there which i found out was a silver room only - again very nice -
The entertainment was amazing - there was some sort of show or activity every half an hour. With indoor rides, out door rides, soft play and a craft club each morning it actually allowed us parents to have a bit of rest time
you are also right ontop of the beach - we took a stroll, played mini golf and checked out the town again all good
Although fast food is sold - a lot of effort has been made to allow parents to offer altenatives.
i was a very snobbish worried parent who has been TOTALLY transformed to a butlins person - we plan to go again for definate
dont' be put off give it a try - if you have kids they will love it
