" oh dear "

well were shall i start, me and my kids (12,15,and 4) all decided to go to butlins so we could give the wife a break so we checked in at 4.30 like we were told and the first thing was some punk picked a fight with my 15 year old and it wasn't a member of the public it was a redcoat so i broke it up to find my 4 year old crying so we hurried to are room will the redcoat had a talk with the boss and that was that.
later that day we all went to the stage area to watch a play and we were stop by a man in a suite saying due to the inccident in the morning we had to leave so that was the end to a very bad holiday

Advice: dont go to butlins

" 60s week end "

this is our twelvth year at butlins our accommadation as always was clean and sufficient.we was impressed by the welcome given to premier guests this year.On arrival at main gate we were given directions to car park and told to book in at the booking office and the red coat wished as a happy break. when we arrived at the booking office we were greeted by a red coat and given a glass of sparkling wine and offered a seat.we were than given our bands and infomation for the weekend whilst there we booked for next years 60s as they are so popular that last year we were unable to book the accomadation we wanted this year.We got a good discount for next year and will be staying in a deluxe suite.the week end was as good as always every one friendly and staff were always cheerful and happy to help.Since returning we have also booked for soul and motown in march 09. Butlins is still good value for money.Cant wait to go again

" We have just returned from a 7 night... "

We have just returned from a 7 night break in Bognor Regis. We stayed in the adapted silver accomodation. The room was basic but very good for the money and was fairly clean although my Husband (the clean freak) does think it could have been cleaner. I think because the carpet and sofa were dirty it gave off the general impression of the room being dirty. The kids loved the holiday and have returned exhausted. They particularly enjoyed the new adventure play area and seeing the wrestling in Reds. The downside is the adventure play area is not monitored and unfortunately some parents let their kids run riot. We also saw some roaming 'hoodies' who didn't seem to be stopped by security when they were obviously up to no good. Everything on site is also quite pricey, not a problem if you have a car and are willing to travel into Bognor to load up on groceries if self catering.
Everything was quite busy and we did have some problems accessing the entertainment which was so busy that it was impossible to get in some nights. Our sons have disabilities and are part time wheelchair users.......we did ask if we could access the entertainment area early to get adequate seating space for the wheelchair but to no avail. Most people start to que an hour before and then when the doors open it's a free for all for a seat. There is a lift to the show bar but this is slow and only takes one w/c or buggy. So although we had a good break we were a little disapointed with the disability awareness and training of staff. We had some concerns about the parking area where our car was near the sports ground. At night it was very dark and by day we saw signs that some 'hanky panky' had been going on around the area. I'll leave this to your imagination. We also have concerns about how busy it will be next year when the new hotel opens. On the whole though when you compare this to Butlins rivals this again wins hands down. I have had a bit of a moan here but lets be honest my gripes, in the grand scheme of things, are minor ones. The good bits of our holiday by far outweighed the bad. Thanks Butlins........see you next year!!

" Butlins is great for the kids, well... "

Butlins is great for the kids, well that is the official line however Butlins did not live up to its billing and will soon be worse.

The entertainment in the main Skyline was great and the kids (6&7) both enjoyed it however other parts of the entertainment are decidedly lacking.

The pool, at the height of the summer holidays expect at least an hours wait to get into the pool then you queue for each slide once in there, the pool is great it is just that they have too many people on site for the size of the pool, this is due to increase next year as they are building another hotel.

Fairground rides, these consist of 5 rides, 4 of which your grandparents may have been on, I kid you not they are ancient, the paratroopers - very old and will not operate if there is much of a wind, Dodgems again very old and on the Sat they had 2 faulty cars and by the Thursday over half were out of order, Spinning top never got to go on this as it was not working all week, carousel again old but at least they can cram the people on so not too much of a wait. The newest ride is a tug boat, this was so busy that it kept tripping out every couple of hours, they then had to wait half an hour then it started again. Since last year the outdoor pool has gone, the large play fort has been replaced by a small play area less than 1/4 of the size, all to make room for the new hotel.

The problem is that we go on holiday with expectations and Butlins are no longer fulfilling them, they are cramming more and more people on site with fewer and fewer facilities (when the day visitors are let in at 10 every morning the queues double). Don't get me wrong the holiday for the kids was great the entertainment was good, however the kids club activities were for the most part poor.

Overall a holiday that is best sampled in small doses, a 3 or 4 day breaks would be better, also if you can try out of season.

" never again, this is the worst... "

never again, this is the worst holiday we have ever had, the accommodation is NOTHING like it looks on the internet its a big con
the appartment was so smelly, and dirty and the bedding was not clean, curtain pole was broken which dropped down and hit me across the head on the first night, ran over by a go kart outside by the front door entrance, you need to take out insurance just to walk around the place, several of the rides were not working over the whole weekend and they shut early evening so we found the evenings very boring as with a 2 year old the evening shows were not a good idea with her running around. food was very expensive and not very nice so all in all it was horrible and i wouldn't recommend this even to my worst enermy.
the biggest problem and complaint was the cleaness of the swimming pool, it is disgusting, changing rooms were horrible with ladies tampax tubes on the floor for my toodler to pick up is absolutely not acceptable, there were far too many people in there, when you left the pool it took over half an hour to get a changing room as we needed a family one with a 18 month baby.
couldn't call it a holiday as it was so stressful and my 7 year old didn't enjoy it either. bring back the old butlins which was great for the whole family with cleanness and happy staff!!

we will never return, always said never say never, BUT NEVER AGAIN
its not cheap and its a total waste of time and money, i think its safe to say WE HATED IT!

" Decided to book a last min break to... "

Decided to book a last min break to Butlins on the Thursday left on the Friday and only Paid £117 for 3 nights half board in a silver room so i can't complain about the price! Ok the room was very basic and a little shabby and the house-keeping which is advertised was non exsistant the only thing they did was pop a new toilet roll inside the door so to look like they had been although we never needed one! We found it to be noisey at night with people walking home as the windows never shut very well and there was a 5mm gap around the door! The weather was fantastic but this caused us to wake at 6am due to the curtains being made from wafer thin materal and the light blinding us through them.
The food was very good and always piping hot but sometimes we struggled to get a seat therefore the food was cold by the time you get seated because it was just me and my 4 year old we couldn't bagsy a table so to speak!
The entertainment was fab with something going on all day and night. Drinks were very expensive £3.05 a pint (If weathersoons can do it why can't Butlins) The swimming pool was great too but we were gutted as the wave machine wasn't working all weekend! overall we had a cracking weekend at butins we came home a little poorer and knackerd but with some happy memories!

" This is by far the worst holiday I... "

This is by far the worst holiday I have ever been on. The accommodation was an absolute disgrace and want was going on and this park was completely out of order. When these illegal actions were reported to security they completely ignored my comments and left me feeling unsafe within the complex. I wrote a letter of complaint which they basically ignored and I shall never be returning to Butlins again.

" it was alright. on our 2nd day at... "

it was alright. on our 2nd day at butlins we left the house a bit muky and when we came home the cleaners had cleared it all up by washing the dishes makeing the beds hoovering and folded our pyjamas and putting them in the bed under our duvet but for the next 3 days they only hooverd and chuked our pyjamas on our bed. befor we left on our last day we had to be gone by 10 in the morning. we went to eat out at lunch and a hot plate was the heat of a oven and with no warning sign on it my brother touched it and it burnt his fingers and all the staff would do was tell us to go home and its now a adult weekend and no children but my mum said not till his fingers were better so we sat down then we got thirsty and me my mum and my brother went to get some drinks leaving my mums coat on her chair when we got back some one had stolen it and its still gone today.

" Well our stay was disastarous!!!!! I... "

Well our stay was disastarous!!!!! I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN!! I spent many a time at butlins when I was a kid and loved it, my partner had a job interview down south and we ourselves live in the lake district so it was a very long drive. We were prepared for the long drive and just fancied a little break away, our little boy was only 8 months old and we thought he might like watching the shows... he is too young to do much else really. We were welcomed when we arrived and went to go and collect our room key. We stayed half board silver room - Dolphin Boulevard on Oyster bay. We were told that due to part of the park being a massive building site we would have to drive all the way back out of the entrance and round to be able to unload our car near our room. This was a severe pain with a small baby as you can imagine. We were only allowed a ten minute parking pass then we had to move the car again- and to top that the room was filthy.... the hoover was outside so I used it myself, the bedding was dirty, it hadn't been touched!! We went down for dinner the first night and it was AWFUL!! the food was disgusting, dried up and burnt and the food hall was like a scavenging place for the hungry. We were a bit shocked to be honest and thought maybe it would improve next day for breakfast. We hired a pushchair and a bathtub for our baby boy and paid deposits which we were fine with. That night we went to bed early and decided that we would give tommorrow a chance. So we went down for breakfast which was a little improvement but there was not much choice in the way of cereals and I wasn't keen on a fry up. We made the most of the day and went swimming at Splash - the water slide kept getting closed down because they kept having to rescue people who GOT STUCK!! a bit of a safety issue there surely! My partner went to dover the next day after being up all night with a dodgy stomach. A result of what could only be the awful food I thought because all that day I too was in bed and in and out of the bathroom!! we didn't even bother with tea that night... couldn't face it!! we went and asked if there was any chance of an upgrade to the other restaurant, we were more than prepared to pay!! but they said they had no space for us so we couldn't argue. Then it gets worse!! we went to splash again and got robbed!!! yes ROBBED!!! all our clothes, money, belongings etc even my babies stuff and nappies I was distraught we stood around in our swimwear waiting over 15 minutes for security!!! we were then told that even though there were security camera signs up, there was actually NO CCTV AT ALL on the campus what a joke!! we had to sit around for over an hour making a statement and the securuty guard was useless!!! we were told that our room would be watched in case of a break in which didn't happen either. The police told us on the phone that they wouldn't waste their time coming out because the incidents WERE COMMON AT THE RESORT!! in fact 2 couples we later spoke to had also been robbed whilst there!! we had no money at all and all our cards were stolen so butlins gave us a few measley quid in vouchers!!! it was a joke. We took the buggy back to get our deposit of £20 back so we had some money and begged the staff if we could keep it as we were checking out the next morning but couldn't carry our baby around for the rest of the day. THEY REFUSED!!!! the buggy was a cheap thing there was no way we would have taken it. We wanted to check out there and then but couldn't have got to a bank in town to get some money for fuel so we went back to our room. The next morning I fell badly when getting out of the shower because it was leaking from under the base!!! I am now seeing the doctor because a month on I am having real pain and I have a boned knot that has formed as a result of the fall. I could hardly walk on it which meant my partner would have to do the whole 350 mile journey home! we decided to eat something for breakfast because we had a long journey ahead.... we got there 20 minutes before they were due to shut and they had stopped serving!!! so we went to hand in our room key cards.... the woman said did you enjoy your stay?? I was nearly in tears by this point and just said you have got to be joking!!! I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN!! I have written a letter to butlins about the whole experience but I am not hopeful that I will hear anything as its been weeks now and no response!! I would have chose 0/10 but there was only a 1/10 option.... this was a HOLIDAY FROM HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" well all i can say is after reading... "

well all i can say is after reading all the reviews on Butlins i was Dreading it - it seemed no one had anythig good to say

Well i booked a 2 bed room silver plus chalet - it had been re-furbished and was although quite basic it had what you needed for your stay. I also looked into a room there which i found out was a silver room only - again very nice -

The entertainment was amazing - there was some sort of show or activity every half an hour. With indoor rides, out door rides, soft play and a craft club each morning it actually allowed us parents to have a bit of rest time

you are also right ontop of the beach - we took a stroll, played mini golf and checked out the town again all good

Although fast food is sold - a lot of effort has been made to allow parents to offer altenatives.

i was a very snobbish worried parent who has been TOTALLY transformed to a butlins person - we plan to go again for definate

dont' be put off give it a try - if you have kids they will love it
