Great Apartments, more work on the all inclusive
8 / 10
Jul 2011, devon

Just returned from Punta prima playa. Apartments clean and in good condition but did notice some of the doors to the rooms where getting a bit rusty. Cleaner came most days and we got clean towels most days and beding changed regularly. Pool area nice with loads of sunbeds but not many umbrellas and buy cheap lilos to make it more comfortable to lie on. Reception staff helpful and thomas cook rep brill. This hotel has just changed to all incluive this year, still a few areas to improve on - couple of nights chicken wasnt cooked properly both us and other people noticed. One night the choice was rubbish, more people were having a plate of chips than any other choice and the staff havent got the hang of replacing it as soon as it runs out or been out for a certain time. We reported this to the rep the next morning after the night with very little choice, and he was brilliant- spoke to the hotel straight away and by the evening we found a big improvement- chicken cooked properly, both kitchen and resturant/bar staff keeping an regular eye on the food levels. The rep even came down one night a week later and tried the food himself. Food wasnt labelled but the recpetionist showed us the labels for food she was making up at the time. Even with all of this the food was nice and tasteful.
I dont know why people are saying about the lighthouse closing and children getting bored, as the lighthouse is only the resturant which has one of the 2 bars in it. and for the people saying about the supermarket at the hotel selling out of date food, havent got a clue what they are talking about as there is no supermarket at the hotel, the nearest one is down in the resort.
Think once the get over the inital start doing all inclusive and get use to it will be all perfect, they are taking notice of complaints and doing someting about it.

Just returned for a week at Punta Prima Player. It was our first family holiday abroad and we feel so lucky to have stayed in such a brilliant place. The staff were so friendly. The kids entertainer was fantastic. The whole complex is set out so that you can always see your children, in the pool or when playing football or other games with the entertainer. Safety and secuirty is a very important factor to me and my husband and we felt that this complex ticked all the boxes. The food was absolutely amazing and so much of it - all fresh and not recycled and so much choice. There were 16 main hot dishes let alone salad and other options. Unlimited ice cream and snacks of cakes and chips were readily available. My children loved the food, the pool, and made friends and did not want to leave, nor did we. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a secure, sunny happy holiday and is prepared to put on lots of weight if all inclusive!!!!

Having just returned from a weeks holiday in the Punta Prima Playa I thought I would let other customers know my thoughts. First of all the apartments are very clean and spacious which was a real treat as we were on an all inclusive deal, the pool area was lovely and ideal for children. The best thing about this hotel is the staff they are so friendly and helpful a special mention to Richard whose entertainment especially for the children was second to none, we met as strangers but after a week we left as friends. The only draw back for us was the food it could have been better but as this hotel is new to all inclusive im sure it will improve as the season progresses. The small resort of Punta Prima is lovely the beach is gorgeous white sand and blue sea older children may be a little bored, there are no loud bars or disco.

We have just returned from a great 2 week holiday at the Punta Prima Playa apartments. I was slightly concerned by some of the reviews, but I needn't have been - we had a great time there and would love to go back. The apartment was clean and well equipped. Sheets and towels changed every 3 days. The pool was great for the kids - lots of shallow bits and there was never a fight for sun beds. Snack bar was fine, table tennis/pool available also. The kids club was disappointing. Camille was very lacklustre in organising any events, but the kids made their own fun. Lighthouse bar opposite was open at the weekend. Some great tribute acts, but avoid Kelly Hurst - she is dreadful!!

after reading some of the critical reviews i was a little worried.
i was very pleased with the apartments and they were very clean (3 times in a week the towels were changed).
adequate cooking facilities (not for masterchef cooking)
but a good selection of restaurants at the bottom of the hill across from the beach.
if you are looking for a relaxed quiet family holiday in good apartments with an exellent pool then Punta prima apartments is perfect.

  • Advice: quiet and pefect for a young family holiday and will be coming back

In october 2009 (kids half term hoilday) we went on a break to punta prima playa. we found out it was the most boring place on earth!!
The hole town was shut apart from 2 supermarkets 1 of them was spar was which was ok and a other which had food out of date.
Back to the apartments the cats, flyes and ants got more attention than the guest " what guest ". the reception area opened at 9am and shut at 5pm which was terrible because the children needed drinks and food. also the reception was closed all day on a sunday which was horrendous!!!
As we were self catering there were no shops opened we had to go on the bus 5miles away for milk and water.
on the monday we wanted to be transferd to the sur menorca as there was no amenities at the apartments on top of that we had to pay 250euros for the next 3 days of are hoildays.
would not advise anybody to book this area (punta prima) for october half term unless you wont to be boared and starve with hunger
WHAT A GHOAST TOWN !!!!!! sur menorca hotel was fantastic

We have just come back from MENORCA stayin in Punta prima, luckily for us we had heating. the first day, we reaslised it was a ghost town, there was nothing open, so we had to hire a car, as there were no shops open either. we took ourselves to the supermarket in Mao 5 miles away, and got supplies, the lady at he reception, told us that nobody was going to open until May as they thought the brits could not afford to come over, because of the euro.
we had 4 days of rain, and then the sun came out. we saw all of the island which was very beautiful, paddled in the sea and enjoyed the quiet rest.
We did find one chinese restaurant open near Mao, which was lovely.
We will go again, but in season. The apartment was good, but they would not change our sheets or towels, because they don't do them only in season!!

  • Advice: quiet but pretty
  • Activities: Cala gadana, Caves and the sea at punta prima on a hot and sunny day. beautiful and tropical.

have just returned from a week long stay at these apartments with my husband, 2 yr old son and my parents. we were happy with the cleanliness of the apartments and we did have a towel/linen change and cleaning of apartment twice during our week.
we were, however, very disappointed with the lack of entertainment but it seems we missed out on alot by not going there till end of september as the lighthouse bar was closed on arrival and none of the few places there are to eat had any entertainment. we also did not see sight of the horse and carriage ride that was mentioned in an earlier review.
we also had the misfortune of bad weather, it rained alot and so we found nothing to amuse ourselves except for the indoor playroom they have for young kids and the pool/air hockey table.
the staff at the complex were friendly and helpful, paul in particular.
punta prima is a very quiet resort - quieter than i expected, but i suspect it isn't as quiet earlier in the year - with only a handful of places to eat and one decent supermarket (spar) as the one next to the punta prima playa is more expensive and sells out of date food - we had out of date yoghurts and my parents had crisps that were 6 months out of date!

Just got back from a 2 week break and overall we had a great time, so much so that we have aready booked for next year. Not sure if that's something to do with the pouring rain on our arrival back in the UK!
There was a noticable difference between the 2 weeks of our stay (final week in Aug + first of Sep) in that there were a great deal more people around in august and more friends for our daughter Abigail to play with in the fantastic pool area. The atmosphere during the first week was very friendly, I enjoyed the invitation to the pool competitions and the footie in the early evening.
Paul who ran the bar/food area and Irene the chef consistently provided a top quality service throughout our stay and were a good source of local knowledge. The only down side during our stay was the lack of towel changes and cleaning of the apartment. It woud appear that it was down to an administrative error but looking at the other reviews there appears to be a common theme coming out here. A simple one to sort and bump the overall rating up.
Eating out was no problem, our favourite was Casa Fermin and we were even tempted to walk up the hill a bit and sample the Blue Anchor. It is nothing special and I'm at a loss why they sell themselves as the 'only english run pub' in the resort as all the other restaurants managed OK with my non existent spanish. The only positive was the play area for younger children which kept them amused while you had another beer.

Just returned from a week at these apartments , i traveled with my wife my daughter who is 9 my son who is 14 months old and my mother inlaw .
We found these apartments manageable there were too many pointy corners in the room for toddlers ,towels only changed once within the week . We had read reviews about entertainement ( the lighthouse bar) over the road and also that there was entertainment at the comlex ,but the day we got there it had closed and all the entertainement at the apartments had also stopped (even kids enetertainement) apart from a parrot show and 2 singers , which to me the kids only enjoy the parrot show. Food at the bar is nice staff are freindly , i just felt dissapointed at the lack of things to do for the children apart from a pool table, a snooker table and air hockey .The pool is brill though my 2 children both enjoyed the toddlers pool and the large pool.
Best place we found for food was el faros the last restaurant along the front.
Beach is a must to do its nice and clean and the sea is crystal clear we went snorkeling and were amazed at all the fish swimming around us (brilliant) .
Not many shops to stroll around but they have nice little market stalls changing every other night selling clothes and jewelery and nik naks .
There is also a horse and carriage ride which is a must if you have kids takes about 10mins the kids get to sit on the horse and feed it sugar lumps , there is also a road train which takes about an hour nice trip but a bit long and windy if you have toddlers.
Also a bit off advice for any smokers goint to punta prima there is only one place that sells cigarettes and thats sebastians out of a machine (the only bar), you have to go san luis the next town(about 10mins on the bus) if you want more than twenty.
Overall nice resort , nice apartments , just a bit dissapointed at lack of things to do for children within the comlex.
We will probably not be going back.

Sep 2008, Mrs A Barrett

Just returned from 2 weeks at Punta Playa I travelled on my own with 2 boys aged 10 & 5 and was very apprehensive before I left. However we all had the most brilliant holiday, apartments are fab all the kids played together and everyone we meet whilst there were really friendly.I agree with everyones comments regarding the pool as my 5 year old nearly drowned on our first day. Staff are great, especially Paul who has always got a smile on his face. Entertainment OK, but Lighthouse closed halfway through our holiday so kids got a little bored. Not having the kids club was not a problem for me as the kids played in the pool all day. Made some really great friends (Steve, Natalie, little Josh and Cathy, Andy, Joe and Alex) will be returning next year but will travel a week earlier, as very quiet once the kids had gone back to school. Great holiday for anyone thinking of going on their own with their kids.
