De La Place Du Louvre Hotel

I have recently returned from a fabulous weekend in Paris ! It took me two weeks of trauling the internet and phoning hotels before I finally booked the place de louvre. Originally I was looking for a hotel in the "latin quarter" of paris as I had been advised that there were loads of great restaurants there, and it was also the site of Notre Dame. We had the Kopka room, which was quite small (but that is normal for Parisian hotel rooms) but the bathroom was great ! Not in space, but the bath was quite new and even the shower worked (mostly you choose for a shower or a bath in Paris). The beds are good and we had a nice view of the church (which does not make noise except about 6 in the evenings). There was no rumours from other rooms and the staff was friendly. I think for space I would take next time the large room but reading the other comments I still doubt. For location, it seems... more

We stayed here in August 2004. Outstanding location - right next to metro. Centrally located. Clean and beautiful rooms. Great service.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights in June 2004 and loved it! Most importantly it's clean and centrally located. We could return midday to freshen up and go back out. It's within walking distance of several sites, the Seine, and the metro. Metro stops to two different lines are closeby. The bathroom, though not large, was roomier than we expected in Paris. The staff was very friendly and polite and they speak good English. We will definitely stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Of course we did get stuck in a "facing the other hotel and dirty alley" room the first night, but we asked for a change in rooms and were accomodated for the rest of our stay. We stayed in the Pollock room which had a unbelievable view of the Louvre and the church across the street. Stayed there in the summer, was just the most perfect location for all the sights and museums, hotel receptionists were friendly and helpful at all times, we barely used the Metro, used Bus on the Seine instead to get around, which was more or less on doorstep. Louvre right next door. Great, fully recommend it, and too expensive for right in centre. Took young child too, no bar to speak of in hotel but who needs it in Paris!!

I LOVE this hotel and would argue that it just may be the best location in Paris as virtually everything is walking distance or easily accessible. It's very simple and clean, but ask for a room with a view and you won't be disappointed by the jewel of a church across the street (gargoyles look like they're coming in your window), not to mention the Louvre... Another reviewer referred to the "horrid basement" breakfast room, but I disagree. It's called the "cellar of the Musketeers" because it was an alleged meeting place of the legendary... more

My husband and I stayed in the HDLPlace du Louvre in November 2001 for 3 nights and LOVED it. We stayed in the Kandinsky room (third floor to the front) which had the most amazing view of a beautiful church across the street and the Louvre. No need for a balcony - the windows open so wide you feel you can almost touch the Louvre! We had booked a Superior room but it had a dreary view of a wall (seriously - it wasn't nice) and we asked to move and were accommodated immediately to our great surprise to the cheaper and much nicer standard room.... more

We had one night in paris and as the reason was the Louvre we had to pick a hotel. close by. I paid 150E for a duplex room with a view. I got the 5th floor Jackson Pollock room which does indeed have a view of the Louvre but an even better one of the beautiful cathedral roof opposite. It was not a large room and slighty shabby (with uncoordinated French styling) but we liked the bathroom which was on another level in the attic. a stunning view if you stand on the bath and look out the velux window! This quaint little hotel is wonderful, but very hard to find. The rooms are pretty small but cute and the service is pretty decent for the price. Breakfast is nice and a few of the rooms have a very good view of the Louvre... I would recommend it to people--especially those looking for a nice place with a good price.
