I went to Zante last summer with my boyfriend and we had an excellent time. We went in the beginning of June so we were a bit worried that it was going to be too quite for us and we had seen some bad reviews about the hotel.
However when we got there it lovely, there is loads of nightlife - countless bars (they all seem to blend in to one big memory) a couple of clubs and the drinks are cheap.
Having been to Ayia Napa the year before I was hesitant about drinking cocktails (as in Cyprus they were over priced and more fruit juice than anything else) - but I’m glad I did. For 3euros (about 2 quid) I got a lethal cocktail, which was gorgeous. I’d steer clear of the bottles though because they are a bit more pricey!
I’d heard that most of the bars turn their music off at midnight and some of the smaller ones do but the larger ones just tend to draw across a patio door and you don’t really notice much of a difference.
If you are a group of obnoxious lads who wanna go on holiday to get out-of-your face drunk, shout abuse at everyone and harass young girls I’d think again though because the Greek police on this island seriously don’t take any **** and we saw them make a couple of arrests!!
The hotel itself is really nice. It’s small and basic and a bit out of the way but its quite nice to have a stroll in the day - its only about ten minutes away and a taxi cost us about 3 euros in the early hours of the morning.
The guys that own this hotel are so friendly and really go out of your way to make sure you have a nice holiday.
The pool is absolutely spotless - I mean crystal clear. And the owner is a bit particular about it so I’d make sure you cleaned any sun lotion off before you even think about taking a dip.
The main beach is the only down point. During the evening cars drive along it so its a bit muggy. We took a boat trip around the island and saw some really lovely beaches though - it was definitely worth the money but is a long old day and can get a bit tiresome if your not 100% up for it!
All in all it was a fab holiday and I’d highly recommend it!!
