More Traveller Reviews of Dimitris Studios
Great Views, basic apartments, killer hill!
from Cocos-mama
Rooms were very basic but did the job. If there in high season air con is a must! The views are wonderful from the balcony. The hill is a killer, especially if you're a bit lazy like me! :-) The bar at Dimitris is really trendy with goods snacks, unfortunately at night its very boring! Down in the wee town there are lots of places to eat, very nice with reasonable prices. All in all my husband 11 year old daughter and I loved it. On the subject of sun beds, you know its the same everywhere there aren't enough beds for the amount of guests. So if you're no fast you're last! Happy holiday.
Lovely apartments- great pool and view

I use trip advisor when we go away so thought I should contribute something back. As with reviews this was our personal experience in a snapshot of time but I hope some of it may be of help to you. We are a family of 4 and went to the Dimitris Apts for a week, and all enjoyed our stay. We were all in one studio (block 3 which is the newest) - the sofa pulled out, my son and daughter had that, they are 9 and 14 and fitted on fine. The main bed is two single beds pushed together and they were firm but pretty comfy. The view from the balcony over Pefkos is great definitely the best in the town. The gardens are well looked after with some lovely flowers - mind you the baby goats got in one day after their morning walk and started eating them! They were soon shooed out by the owners bless them. The bar was modern with new table and chairs with that all-important shade to shelter you from that midday sun. This opens around 10am -10.30 am in the morning and closes late. Drinks are on the expensive side but no different from any other hotel. They also sell cans of soft dinks and bottled water that you can take to your room, although not as cheap as the supermarkets. The guys who own Dimitris are always behind the bar working, no they aren't very chatty or smiley agreed, but they work long hours and keep the place immaculate and well run. It is a shame thiugh as the bar isnt exactly busy in the evening, most people walk into town. And yes if the guys put some things on and seamed a little more enthusiastic people might stay up at the apts. we only had 3 of everything in our room on arrival ie. knives, forks mugs ect.. needed 4 so asked at the bar when sorting out the airconditioning and when we returned to our room they had been put in. So they do respond if you need anything done which is good. The weather was in the high thirties so walking "the hill" was hard work, my daughter is 9 and it was too much for her in that heat (39 degrees that day) so we had to get a taxi. The taxi's will charge what you bring out that is definitely the case, we were charged 5 euros each time then one evening there was a new driver and he gave us change! so only charging us 4 euros. The pool is very clean and there are plenty of sun beds - having said that when we were there people were up at 6.30am putting their towels down (apparently), we were all still in the land of nod then. This was a shame because then everyone ended up having to get up early to get a bed and there is enough when people only use them when they are there!! There was also a couple who kept their towels on 24/7 never took them off. One morning we went down at 9am and all the beds had towels on and there were only 5 people there and the majority of them weren't used until lunchtime or the afternoon. Agree with other reviews about the self catering facilities - basic - fridge with freezer box which will fit 3 bottles of water in, two hob rings, a small kettle, and a sink. we had no toaster. Also we didn't have any bowls for the children's cereal so we used the mugs which they thought was great so didn't worry about asking for some. It really was one pot cooking. Yes there are lots of restaurants, the average cost for a family of four with a couple of beers each and soft drinks is around 60 euros but if you are on a budget that gets expensive every evening, so the 1 pan and 1 frying pan came out. The supermarkets all sell pretty much the same things and will cover you for all your basics, milk, all drinks, packet ham / cheese and frankfurters are plentiful. Of course the beers and wine. But there isn't much salad stuff or fresh meat around like chicken (for the pasta of course, 1 pan remember). The Pefkos bakery - half way down the hill, which is also the nearest little supermarket do the most fabulous croissants, pastries and bread wonderful for breakfast - worth the walk, just do it early so its not so hot and it hasn't all gone. We walked to the beach one day and it was very clean, water beautiful. There are fresh water showers on the beach and toilets in porter cabins just above in the car park. I didn't use the toilets there but my son said they were ok. We were charged 8 euros for 2 beds and a brolly for the day. There are some shops near the beach you can buy food and cold drinks for a pinic - I found some fresh peaches :-) There are restaurants along the road leading to the beach and a couple on the beach too. If you choose to go to the Dimitris Apartments we hope you enjoy your stay too. Tips Allow 50 euros per week in the budget for aircon as at 30 degees at night in July sleeping is difficult. We arrived at night so didn't have it the fist evening. You pay at the bar. If you are arriving on night flight pay when you book your holiday to get a welcome pack in your room with the essentials so you have cold water and some milk ect.. as no shops open at 4am - Take some water! Take a tea towel and a dish cloth
Fabulous views and a good value hotel
from CAWLondon
Like the other reviewers, we would agree that this is a beautiful site - the grounds are well kept and attractive. The rooms are fairly basic as you would expect - there isn't a lot of crockery etc for self catering but it's too hot to cook anyway! However, they were clean and reasonably spacious. The food from bar was good and reasonably priced. Aircon is a must in high summer as it was 30 degrees at night and it is well worth the 50 euros. Taxis are a good option for local journeys - the hill is a bit of a killer at 40+ degrees and quite dark at night, as a previous review says you have to walk along the roadside and there are no pavements - the traffic can be quite fast! The beach is lovely - sunbeds/umbrellas are 4 euros for the day - but it is advisable to take drinks, snacks with you as there isn't much on the beach itself. Water looks very clear and is warm! All of the restaurants we ate in were nice - Blue Bay, George's, Hellas Gardens, Spitaki and good value for money. We really liked the Pefki Cocktail Bar which is just set back a little from the road - the staff were really friendly and it has a lot more charm, it is the oldest bar in Pefkos, than some of the modern ones - shady terraces and a roof terrace - it does have sport screens for those who like this but they don't dominate. Not usually too crowded and busy - would recommend the cocktails.
Simple but good

Dimitris apartments are simply furnished but clean and provide everything you need. They are a bit limited as self- catering goes, there's only a small hob and a couple of pans but the bar serves snack meals and Pefkos has plenty of restaurants so there's no real need to cook for yourself! Georges restaurant at the bottom of the hil served some of the best meals we had during our trip and the service was fantastic. My party of 3 adults shared a twin + sofa bed studio. The room was adequately sized, we really only used it to sleep in so no problems with tripping over each other. The real plus point of the complex is the beautiful pool area. The pool and surrounding area was immaculately clean had plenty of loungers and some of the best views in Pefkos. The bar area also provided much needed refreshments. The small size of the complex made it easy to pop back to your room if you needed anything. It was also lovely to be able to come back at night and not have loud music blasting out. The resort is quiet and family friendly but as Pefkos is so close you don't miss out on any entertainment opportunities. The location is at the top of a pretty steep hill. As with other reviewers, we walked into Pefkos and got taxis back. The taxi should cost around 4 euros for a 2 minute ride. Agree a price before you travel as the drivers often wait to see what money you get out before naming a price! Same goes for taxis into Lindos. They should be around 7 Euros but if you produce a ten, 10 is what you will be charged! The public service buses are also a great way to get around the island. Our rep tried to persuade us they weren't a great idea but we found them to be reliable (ALWAYS exactly on-time) well air- conditioned and with drivers that spoke good english. A trip into Lindos is an absolute MUST. :) Be warned that it can get very hot, take plenty of water. We found that temperatures (even at night) never dropped below 30 degrees and during the day were well over 40 degrees. This means that the sand and pebbles on the beaches can and will burn your feet, so take some good shoes not just flip- flops. One other tip is don't be fooled by the holiday company reps into booking onto their trips. There are several agencies in Pefkos (and other towns) who offer the same trips, with English speaking guides but for less than the holiday companies are offering. You still get picked up by Dimitris but don't pay holiday rep commission fees. My party went on a "lazy days cruise" (absolutely amazing- a definite must!!); a trip around the island (again, highly recommended) and an evening trip to Rhodes Town (I wouldn't bother with this one, Rhodes is a big let- down). I would highly recommend staying in the Pefkos/ Lindos area and if you do definitely go for Dimitris- it was brilliant!
Amazing view, bargain price, beautiful gardens and well equipped pool

Arrived at the Dimitris Studio's from our couch and at first couldn't really recognise it as I could not find many photographs of the studio's online. However I did see a small sign so realised it was our stop! We were greeted by one of the bar staff, who didn't actually introduce himself, but pointed us in the general direction of our room. We were allocated room 211 and as far as I am concerned it had one of the best views of any of the rooms. The room was large and clean, with a generally modern theme throughout. The bathroom had a small and not very powerfull hairdryer, with all the necessities including a bath and shower, however be warned that anything you say in the shower is heard very clearly outside, and if you leave the bathroom window open anything you say while in the whole of your apartment can be heard very clearly outside! The kitchen has two built in hobs and you are given some crockery and cutlery, but obviously no cleaning fluids. The fridge and frozen compartment in the fridge was a bit temperemental, as we bought a lot of water, and placed some of the bottles in the frozen section and some not, some days the water in the normal section would come out frozen and some days not, and ice cream did not really survive even in the frozen section. Our double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, but it was so hot at night this did not really matter anyway! We had an amazing view from our balcony, and the gardens were the greenest area I saw in the whole of Pefkos and Lindos! A maid came and cleaned the room everyday, except Sundays. She came around half ten to eleven most days. Unfortunately this meant if you hadn't slept very well and needed more of a lie in without being forced to sunbathe by the pool you still had to leave your room as her English was not very good. One day I asked her if we could just have the clean sheets, instead of her coming in and cleaning the whole room (as you were given clean sheets everyday) but she didn't understand, however she did consequently leave us till last from then on! I heard that the Dimitris Studios were up a steep hill, but this is not quite the case, they are up a ten minute hill, that at the beginning is very steep, but then slowly levels out and is actually along a main road with no path. Even so I never got a taxi up the hill once in two weeks!! Pefkos town was much busier than I expected as it is described in most guide books and a small fishing town. It is not too busy though, it has a great variety of restaurants and cafes, shops and bars. Personally for breakfast my favourite place to go was Pane Di Capo, it was well priced, with friendly staff who remember your face, and also has sport on their flat screen TV's, it is very modern with a wide variety on their breakfast and drinks menu. Most breakfast came with chips! Pane Di Capo was also my favourite bar for the evening as it was very classy and modern, and attracted some of the younger locals as well as tourists, therefore it had not turned into an over the top kareoke bar or blasting out loud 80's tunes as you would find in some other places. Most days I found it too hot to really be hungry so did not eat lunch, but many places were still available to eat, these were normally the places that were open for breakfast. For dinner, I would definately recommend eating at Nostalgia, Enigma, Colleseum and Terpsis. Nostalgia has great deserts, which are very filling if you've already had two courses! They are beautifully presented also. Nostalgia does have slightly slower service than the others, but it is still considerably faster than any service I have had in England! In Enigma the staff are very friendly, and do not mind at all if you only buy one starter and wish to share it, which I discovered when my partner bought himself a starter and they gave me a plate to share!! In Enigma if you ask then you will recieve, my boyfriend and I went here on our first night and asked to sit right on the edge of the balcony, which was currently fully occupied, so they simply let us pick from the menu then take someones table when they left. You could also ask to sit on the much higher up level of the restaurant, which we did not discover till the last day! Colleseum is run and staffed by American and English people, who were very friendly and welcoming, the food was great, although the portions were slightly smaller than other restaurants. Terpsis was my personal favourite, the food was great, the staff were very friendly and attentive and they had special electronis devices to take your order which then meant your order was sent immediatly to the kitchen which sped up the process, also they would notice when you had for example finished your starter and could then notify the kitchen that you would soon be needing your main. Due to the amazing location of the Dimitris apartments we normally spent the middle of the day by the pool, either sunbathing or in the bar. The bar staff were not particularly cheerful, I saw one of them smile once, and that was when I said goodbye as I was walking to the coach taking us back to the airport. This therefore meant we did not spend much time in this area, however the food we ate was nice. The fact that the staff were not particularly friendly, or overly bothered with those staying there was the only negative thing really, and this prevented us from sitting in the bar, and myself from really over recommening these apartments, if they had made a bit of effort that would have made a big difference. The location of these apartments are spectacular, as I said the hill is not quite as previously described in other reviews, but the fact that you are up a hill means you have views to rival all other hotels in Pefkos. I would definately recommend getting air conditioning for 50 euro's a week, we did not have it on the first night and I felt like I couldn't breathe and my partner was literally dripping with sweat all night.
unbelievable!

went to the dimitris appartments with boyfriend and his parents, when first arriving was late at night so in morning when woke up and stood on balcony the view! amazing! the food is great and the pool area nice and relaxed! In fact when myself and boyfriend were tyrin to decide where to go this year after being to kos last year and straight away we knew where we wanted to go so have booked up for june! Cant wait!
dimitris perfect
from LA142
Cant think of any down side to these apartments (except maybe the walk up the hill but so worth it for the view or just jump in a taxi!) The view from these apartments is just amazing. The apartments are cleaned daily and the pool and bar area are so modern and are really lovely to sit at. I am so glad there is no entertainment as it would be so tacky and it is more of a relaxed atmosphere at the pool bar. The restaurants in Pefkos are great I have not had 1 bad meal both times I have been there (a few of us went and visited the chinese/indian on separate nights and it was lovely so dont let other reviews put you off). The beach is gorgous and the sea is warm and if you take some bread to feed the fish you will be surrounded by them its amazing! The bars at pefkos are so nice and relaxing and the people are so friendly everywhere you go especially the palm beach bar with Costas and George they are so freindly and we got a lift from Costas most nights in his truck back up to the apartments. The guys at Palm beach do anything they can for you and they make you feel like you are the only customers. This is definitely the perfect place for a holiday if you want to relax and eat great food in amazing surroundings with great people. It is not well known and would agree with other reviews I would like it to stay like that as it is perfect as it is.
excellent view
from MargaretReid
As the other reviewers said not much to say bad about this place, the view was fantastic and we found staff and other guests very friendly and made quite a few friends. It is a pity there is no entertainment as I would not have spent so many nights in the town. Truly relaxing and enjoyable time, even though there was a heat wave and a earthquake ( not joking) this wouldnt stop me going back.
superb
from stulux
just a quick note to say how excellent the dimitris studios are. They rooms are to a very high standard and are the best we have stayed in greece. The only downfall to the place is the lack of atmosphere, the pool and bar area are superb but the owners do not know how to get anything happening. But all that said the veiws from the balconies are spectacular.
Amazing!

These studios are amazing! They are so clean and every one we met there were return visitors to Pefkos and would not stay anywhere in pefkos but these studios. All rooms have a sea view and the pool is gorgeous - the perfect temperature. The studios are situated at the top of a hill but the views are to die for! We used to walk down the hill at night (5 min walk) and get a taxi back up. There is a taxi rank at the bottom of the hill and there are ALWAYS taxis available. They take you up for 4 euros. The snack bar at the studios is brilliant - the food is gorgeous and the view while your eating is breathtaking. Pefkos itself is the perfect holiday destination. We never had a bad meal (apart from the Chinese at the top of the street so avoid this), the bars are really good, especially Promises for a cocktail and Pefkos by night. Pefkos is not your typical brit abroad place and hopefully will stay this way but there are loads of good quality restaurants and bars. Everything does close by around midnight though so this is not for all night partyers! The beach is gorgeous and you can walk out up to your waist without standing on a single rock, the sea was as warm as our pool! Pefkos is not very well known and I think people (including me!) want it to stay this way as it is perfect and people definitely don't want it to become overly commercialised. Don't hesitate in coming here and don't stay anywhere other than Dimitris - it is perfect!
