This was the 2nd time staying at the Land of the Kings, we liked it that much the first time we came back. The first time we came here was in Nov 2003, just my husband and I, this was our first ever trip abroad and it was our wedding anniversary. The staff were so nice... more

Please do not listen to those who rate this place badly. It’s a 2 star complex and is exactly that, if you want more luxury then you need to upgrade, I thought that was obvious. £950 for a family of four here including flights transfers etc.....bargain. The room was... more

Do not book this complex. It is run down & dirty. The restaurant/taverna is closed & derelict. The paths & pool surrounds are cracked, tiles missing - serious danger to children & elderly people. Many broken outside lights and no lighting at night. Rooms dirty with ant &... more

We went to Land of the Kings with our two young children in September. We had a great holiday however Land of the Kings was not the greatest. The rooms were very VERY basic. We accepted that but on the morning after our first night we woke up to severe ant infestation,... more

Having already booked (late, cheap booking) and reading all the negative comments much later it was with a great deal of trepidation that my friend and I arrived at the apartments. The receptionist wasn't the friendliest person but not impolite. On the way to the room we... more

We had read some very negative reviews about the Land of the Kings and were worried, but I am glad to say we have just spent the best 2 weeks there. Apartments were basic but when you just want to sleep there, there was everything you needed; kettle, toaster, fridge and... more

Disgusting - the whole place is run down and filthy. The pool has a tide mark all round it, someday the filters are switched off. The manageress is very rude and shouts and screams at everyone. The cleaners don’t clean. My son slept with a t-shirt over his pillow as all... more

I went here with 3 of my friends last year and, although I did not expect the place to be perfect (you get what you pay for) I at least expected it to be clean. What we found, however, when we arrived, was that there was a new hotel being built next door and we had to walk... more

We stayed here 3 years ago, and had a really good holiday. Rooms fairly basic, clean, staff friendly. Good entertainment and reasonable food. However, this year's experience was very different. This complex had become so run-down we hardly recognised the place. When we... more

IT,S A GREAT HOTEL
Since 2003/2004 i have been 3 times, and have now booked for May 2006,i find the management and staff exellent, and enjoy the hotel,PAPHOS itself is very nice, remembering,DOES IT SUIT YOUR NEEDS?.I will continue to return.
mmmmm. We got what we paid for!
We stayed here knowing that what we paid (under £200 each for 3 weeks) it would not be the Ritz. It wasnt, but after a good clean of the room with a bottle of Flash and some Roach powder, we had a great time....because we only slept there! The pool was dangerously dirty with thick scum around the edge and you could barely see the bottom. Please remember this was 4 years ago and things MAY have changed. Cant comment of the food as we certainly did not eat there! For the money we paid about £70 a week, it was very good value. Location is very good, quiet and opposite the sea (although limited acces due to historic monuments opposite) If you can get a bargain like we did (buy 2 weeks get a third free) dont mind a bit of cleaning on arrival, and if the pool has not been cleaned, dont mind going elsewhere for a swim, then these apartments may suit you.
Brilliant
My wife and me had two great weeks, we have booked for next year at the same time. Had a lot of fun meeting some excellent people, all though Tony can be a bit over bearing at times. The room was all we needed, a clean bed and some where to shower. They could have a bit more wardrobe space. However some of the rooms are larger than the one we had so obviously more space. Some building work was going on next door, now if your realy sad and sit in your room all day this will afect your holiday. Our room was directly facing it and it didn't bother us one bit. Simply becuase we went out or spent our time by the pool. There was a lot of complaints about the work going on, but what can you do? Cypriots are working very hard to improve the conditions they live and work in, they don't need miserable git's complaining about every thing. All in all we had an excellent holiday and we are looking forward to going back.
Great!!!
We stayed at the hotel in 2002 and eventhough its now 2005 i believe it is still in top shape as it was in 2002 they are refurbishing all the blocks will moderen furniture and sorting out the paint on the wallls and tiles. The massive pool it great for swimmers and also they have a massive kids pool too. I must admite the staff can tend to be rude here and there beacuse when we were there we had a little fall out with a staff member, so we didnt go back to the Land of the Kings after that but before that we had been around 5 times and loved it, so i would recommened it too anyone with little kids as mine had a gr8 time.
give it a wide berth
stayed in the land of the kings in 2003. what a mistake. we love cyprus having been 17 times 16 to paphos and once to limassol. the pool was filthy, the rooms too warm with no air conditioning though u could hire a fan. the bedding was marked and the mattresses very dirty. the lighting was very poor and the staff unnaproachable. the only thing we did there was sleep in the rooms and that was hard work.... if you want to stay in that area, go 5 mins down the road to the damon, kefalonitis or kefalos beach.....thay are fab........
Hated !
I returned this morning from a 2 week holiday in Land of The Kings Hotel in Paphos Cyprus, and was glad to be coming home. I wasnt expecting 5 star hotel but the least they can do is tell the truth in the brochers. There were no air conditioning in the rooms as we were promissed, our room had poor lighting, stained furniture and the bathroom window was held in with wet toilet paper! Waiters at the land of the kings resturant were brilliant, but the owners of the hotel and its resturant went out of their way to make our lives a living hell and all because we went out of the grounds to eat one night, we were self catering so we could eat where we liked I thought, but if you did not eat at their resturant and went out of hotel grounds they will treat you like durt. My daughter one night was sitting in the bar in the land of kings own resturant and was about to go to the dining area to order and was about to tell the waiter what she wanted when the owners wife came over and told her to get out and that the waiters had no time for her! and she was escorted off the premosis by this woman and my daughter is 18 years old. The place is like a concentration camp where if something brakes its not fixed, our toaster litraly blew up and when the lights on the stairs stoped working we had to walk from the top floor down in pitch black for 4 days before they would fix it. For some of you that might be unlucky and have allready booked I sujest the Karlina resturant which is a short walk down the road past the hotels market, the staff there are brilliant and cant do enough for you and really make you feel at home, Harry the owner is brilliant and if it wasnt for them in the Karlina our holiday wouldnt have had the inch of enjoyment it did have, as for the land of the Kings hotel it is known to the local people as the land of the pigs and is a total waste of time, space and money.
ANT INFESTED
Just returned from a week at the Land of the King's Apt and was glad to check out. Suitcase/clothes totally infested by tiny white ants (possibly termites from old wooden furniture). They were everywhere even in beds. Itched and scratched for days. Found dead cockroach on arrival and alive one on our last day. Accomodation basic, in need of modernisation. Shower trickled water and toilet took forever to refill (not pleasant when waiting to flush!!). Night entertainment tacky - mostly kareoke. Suited to families with young kids.
loved
I have just returned from these apts after a 2 week holiday which i was dreading because of the reviews i read. I can honestly say myself and Daughter aged 12 had a fantastic time here. The complex is large and can be noisy at night with music and entertainment in the bar area. My apt was modernised and had air condition which you had to pay extra for. We enjoyed some lovely food in the restaurant and Tony made a point of checking everyone was happy with their food. I spoke to a few people who were unhappy with their accomadation as they were staying in the blocks that have not been refurnished yet but they hope to have this done by 2006. I had my apt cleaned every 2nd day new towels ect. I think anyone with children would enjoy this complex. I would stay here again and have no worries. I wouldnt stay in them in the winter as there is no heating and it is basic accomadation the complex is busy and can become untidy with kids inflaitables and the odd plastic glasses around the pool. I would say to anyone booking a holiday here you will have a good time. Staff are willing to help in any way possible. The horror stories are not true so go and enjoy.
its a great hotel
this is a great hotel as weve been twice now and have booked to go again next june.theres nothing bad to say about this complex and the pics in the o6 brochure doesnt do it justice as there years old!its really good for families or couples and tony the resturant manager is a true gentleman and nothing too much trouble for him.the food in the hotel is out of this world and theres plenty of yummy resturants lining the road to the harbour, which is about twenty minutes walk away.we will vist this hotel time and time again as they always make us feel so welcome.
worry not, great hotel !!!
visited sept04. found accommodation very clean, even got a shower AND a bath (dont get that very often) plus all the staff were very friendly. Location may not suit everyone as not dead central but we found it perfect. across the road to the tomb of the kings ruins. also bus stop across road to paphos harbour, old town and coral bay, buses run about every 15 mins but be warned can get very busy as theyre a bargain at 50cyp cents whatever the trip. trip takes about 20mins and drops you right in the centre of everything. Also less than five mins from the apts is a selection of bars and restaurants (although we did find Oneills irish bar about twice the cost of most other places we visited) nice pool area looks like has been refurbed and painted since this years brochures as not got the horrid green felt you can see, much nicer. we paid extra for half board which is not neccassary but a good choice of set menu and no complaints about any of the meals. tony the restaurant manager makes sure every diner feels like they are extra special. as with anywhere in cyprus dont be in a hurry as they are definatley not. try to order drinks before youve finished your current ones as you may be waiting sometime. unfortunatley there always has to be something otherwise would have recieved top rating. the smell sometimes from the plumbing could be a bit rank. always ensure you close the bathroom door and leave all the plugs in and the toilet lid down this will minimise the smell although it is still there in parts of the day. i would not find this something to stop me from recommending this hotel or even going back myself though. take extra cash if you want safety deposit box and air con as the hotel does charge but it is certainly worth it. if you are planning on doing any trips its worth going into the harbour and booking through a local agent this usually gets you a good saving and half the time they use the same tour companies. finally have a great time, we did.
