one major thing to know and store away. on leaving the hotel DONT WAIT for the taxi to take you down cardiac hill to the pick up point as it WONT turn up. leave early and walk with your luggage to the pick up point as the shuttle bus WONT WAIT.

Submitted By: ja182The key cards given to us at the begining had to be replaced several times because they wouldnt work in the restaurant or at the bar. The room was nice, it was clean and a nice size. The noise wasnt too bad, but you cant expect it to be totally silent as people are on their holidays and having a good time.
I found this hotel average but nothing special. At a 3 STAR hotel you wouldnt expect to find vomit in the lifts , which we did on a couple of occasions. The food was nice, there was a range of different things so something for everyone and the staff in the restaurant were friendly. Definately go to the medival night as it was really good and take advantage of the surrounding pubs and clubs as the hotel dosent offer much in the way of entertainment for adults. Good for kids though.
My biggest piece of advice is to stay safe and stay with your mates because like anywhere there are undesirable types around and lads looking for a bit of a holiday fling. Girls - keep an eye on your drinks!! Overall i have to say i was not majorly impressed with this hotel, there are some nicer hotels in and surrounding benidorm for probaly a similar price.

Submitted By: Mrs K DickieOn every visit they have enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. From the housekeeping through to the reception staff hav e always been thorough ans friendly.
The food is always hot and varied, feeding hundreds is not an easy task as everyone has different tastes,I find hard enough to keep four people happy so do not envy them their job. Quite frankly if you are that fussy go self catering and stop whinging.
Again if you dont like the drinks why are you going all inclusive it says in the brochures that the drinks are locally produced,
Spanish on holiday in Spain well who would ever of thought of that. A smile and manners go a long way. We have holidayed in Spain for 15yrs and have never ever been upset by a Spanish holidaymaker but on many occassioned have been embarrassed by loud brash brittish.
The hotel is a good base with good food plesant staff. The hill is fine. Benidorm is a great place with something for everyone.

Submitted By: Mr D WEBBThe food at the hotel was very poor as well as the service,no air con in room, no communication with the tour operators. we had to pay for most drinks even though we paid for all inclusive, the pool was tiny.
On leaving the hotel Thompson didnt provide a coach and we had to pay for a taxi to the airport which cost 62 euros. Very dissapointed with Thompsons in all ways and will never travel with these people again.

Submitted By: Mr C MThere were some issues with the flight and transfers however these were to do with Freedoom Travel and not the Magic Group so I won't bore you with the details.
We arrived at the Magic Rock about 11.00hrs, we were dropped off at the rear of the hotel, because the coaches can't access the main reception, our travel agent had advised us of this beforehand so it wasn't a problem. The second floor reception is very basic and doesn't really provide a good first impression of the hotel, however it is only there because the the main reception is not accessible by coach, not because the coach can't get up the hill but because it has no room to turn to get back down.
The Spanish receptionist was very pleasant and after checking our paperwork directed us downstairs to main reception for room allocation.
The hotel Has been given an African theme and having been to Sun City in S.Africa I knew exactly what they were trying to achieve with this and found it to be successful in it's attempts and appreciated them.
Check in was very quick and we were allocated a room immediately, staff spoke excellent English.
The room was a great size for 2 and OK for 3, it was spotlessly clean and fiercely air-conditioned with a pool & beach view, the room was prepared for 2 but within an hour of arriving our maid Toni had prepared a 3rd bed, the bathroom was a good size with loads of storage space and the shower was excellent...the only downside was that there was no balcony however our travel agent had also advised us of this in advance so it's not a complaint.
I've read some of the above reviews and I really do wonder if we were staying in the same hotel as some of the commenters on here the staff were really friendly especially Duncan,Kati and the absolutely beautiful restaurant supervisor who was always smiling and always had something nice to say say to everyone as she swiped the guests in, whether they cared to listen in some cases is another matter. The food was plentiful, delicious and varied although chips and pizza were on offer every night for those that like that kind of thing. The Spanish are great meat eaters and this is reflected in the menu as is the variety of salads on offer, however the desserts were a bit too sugary for my taste but the Spanish as a nation do have a sweet tooth and we are in Spain at the Magic Rock.
The Hotel is very central to where it's all happening in Benidorm and the beautiful Poinete Beach literally 5mins from the door, there is a hill but it is nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe (anyone from Glasgow it's no worse than George Sq to Cathedral St) although I wouldn't like to have to push a wheelchair up it and women in heels did struggle, I'm a bit of a lazy git who likes to drive everywhere and I managed it no bother with no 'huffy puffy' and so should anyone who is not totally out of shape....there is a hill but it really isn't THAT steep!
No-one at the Magic Rock seems to get out of bed before 10.00hrs so getting a sunbed is not a problem, the upper solarium is a sun trap until about 16.00hrs after which the sun disappears behind the tropic apartments but if you move downstairs to the bar area you'll get the sun til sunset.
The kids club is BRILLANT withe the kidz entertainers working from 11 til 7 in English and Spanish we hardly saw the younger member of our party during the day light hours but the kids do have to want to go with them, they don't talk the kids into going our kid did shooting, pool bingo, aqua aerobics, water polo, killer pool, nintendo Wii and karoke and that was in just a day!! Those girls do a great job with the kids and deserve some praise.
There were some complaints about the spirits that were on offer to guests in the evening however as a beer/wine drinker who was in bed for 23.30hrs each night I can't really comment, I will say that i never had to wait too long for a drink at the bar, with regards to the entertainment I didn't see too much not because it wasn't there but because I wasn't!! Benidorm is the entertainment capital of Europe so we went out or sat in the patio area playing cards but there did seem to be something on every night, for the one i did see i did i would question why they had a childrens entertainer doing Michael Jackson show, but who am I to comment on that the kids liked it!
I'm going on a bit now so I will end with..in my opinion the Magic Rock was excellent value for money and next time I go to Benidorm I will be using the Magic Group and I would like to end with a special thanks to Toni the maid who did an excellent job, to often the maids who clear up the mess we leave daily are given little or no recognition..if anyone from the Magic Rock reads this then let her know her efforts were appreciated as were those of Duncan, Kati and the Senora in the restaurant upon whom our youngest developed a bit of a crush which we both found to be so sweet.
In Summary The Magic Rock is a Solid 3 Star Spanish hotel offering great value for money, I can't fault it!!
