Comfort 20eme Davout Nation Hotel

This is certainly no Hilton, but I get the impression that the people writing the other reviews have never actually stayed in a BAD hotel if they think this one is bad. Some things to note: 1. Smoking is allowed in the rooms. I don't know if they have non-smoking rooms, but you do get a little of that stale ciggarette smoke smell. Firstly, although the hotel only deserves a neutral/average review, I'm going to give it above average to offset the other negative reviews that have been posted about this hotel. I had reserved and paid for the hotel before reading the reviews on this sight and was very worried when I finally did read them. My expectations were very diminished. I have to agree with most of the other visitor's comments, rooms are small, cold and noisy. Furniture is straight from a scrapheap and the general standard of cleanliness is poor, carpets in the corridors are stained and smell musty. The area surrounding the hotel is run down, lots of homeless and beggars. Positive observations? Staff were good, breakfast during our stay was also good, metro is close by but there are not enough positive aspects to recommend this hotel to anyone. You will be disappointed-stay away.

I would also like to advise people not to stay there. The location is questionable and i wouldn't really recommend being out there late! It is easy to get to by metro and not really very far from all the sights of Paris, however when you have been in beautiful paris all day and you come back to this hotel its a disappointment. Similar to someone else, I had read the bad reviews and was nervous as I had already booked the hotel, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, it doesn't deserve a 3 star rating. Stayed there in Feb 2004 for 3 nights and it was my first time in Paris, arrived at the hotel at 11.30pm and was very disappointed with the room (bed not even proper double bed length) the décor, heating, bathroom and area of hotel didn't impress at all. Although the hotel staff were very good and the hotel is situated near to the metro, the standards of the hotel do not merit 3 stars. It should only have a 1 star rating. The room was small, had ill made furniture and were absolutely freezing (March 2004). The room was not the cleanest and the bathroom quite disgusting. My room window looked straight out onto cranes and a building site which started banging away at 7 am every morning. Paris is a beautiful city but the hotel let us down.

Nervous having seen previous reviews on this hotel. Unfortunately the nervousness was well founded. Hotel is in a poor location. It is near a Metro, but having been to Paris before, better hotels in better locations for less money are available. The hotel makes no bones about its budget nature. This hotel should definitley not have 3 stars. We booked this hotel as we got a good online rate, but the hotel along with the location was awful. We had a triple room which was tiny, bathroom wasn't the cleanest and we could not open the window in our room as there was constant building work being done on the outside of the hotel during our entire stay. This hotel is not only cheap in the price. Dirty bathrooms and ugly rooms. Certainly, I don't like to pay big bucks for a hotel room that I will use just for a few hours, but this hotel is beyond my limits. Try another place... To be fair with the hotel, the only good thing is that is not far from a Metro station, but if you walk at night from the Metro station to the hotel you will go through a prostitution area, so be careful.

I booked the hotel because it was listed on a variety of sites as a 3 star...however, there are about 2 stars missing from the actual service and comfort level at this hotel. We requested triple, and got one that included an incredibly small space that had no charm or space for luggage whatsoever, a dingy and dirty bathroom (disgusting mold on the tile and paint peeling from the ceiling), a 12" TV with a non- working remote with stuck on low volume that was affixed to the ceiling, and an unhelpful day staff (night staff was helpful).
