Castiglione Hotel

Great location and the staff were very accomodating. Small rooms, but who spends time in them. Only complaint: the internet didn't work as it should have and could not be repaired. I expected they would have offered us, in that case, brief access to their system - but no such offer. The attendant didn't know where the nearest internet cafe was. Would be ready to stay again if the price were right.

Had stayed there before - knew to expect tired, small rooms, but went back for the price and convenient location. Booked and prepaid thru travelocity. When we checked in - were told breakfast was included. When we checked out, we were charged for breakfast and taxes. Taxes were prepaid thru travelocity. I refused to sign for the charges, but they charged me anyway and were quite rude about it. If they had been nicer they could have kept a repeat customer. Now - we will never go back there.

Very Smart entrance and lobby - decor progrssively worse as you ascend! Rooms of variable quality and size. Good bathroom but the furnishings were grubby, paintwork chipped and the whole thing shabby and in depserate need of a revamp The location is superb - but streetside rooms are noisy - even with the shutters closed. Usual breakfast fare - a little too 'self service' for me! Definitely doesnt match the star rating - even if it has Yves St Laurent in the same block!

taking into account that most hotels in paris offer very tiny rooms with small beds and poor service for a high price. this one aint bad at all. it's located very well in the heart of the center, offers good clean rooms with good views. It was clean, staff was helpfull and they had a good breakfast. further on in paris everything is way over priced and the chances are high they ripp you off, even the staff in the metro make you pay dubbel prices as they see you're not local.

A large open spiral staircase goes up through the centre of the hotel. Our room was sub-standard and on the second floor overlooking the Rue rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. There was no fire door between our bedroom door and the staircase. The corridor to the fire escape across the landing on the far side of the staircase from us was half filled with surplus furniture. I stayed in this hotel one night, having booked late on the Internet, in a triple room. This was a double bed plus single which was on the far side of the huge bathroom (2 sinks, a bath and a separate shower; toilet but no bidet) away from the double, so we had masses of space - really a suite but not at suite price (fine for us, 3 females, or a small family)! We stayed at this hotel last weekend, we were on a business trip. First, I must say that we didn't pay alot, I think a total of $100 euros or so for the hotel. It was hard to see exactly how much as it was bundled with the airfare. The location is great for shopping, NOT so great for restaurants, nightlife, any life at all on Sundays. We spent a week at the hotel in late July, 2005. The lobby and the rest of the hotel are a bit dated, appearing slightly post art-deco, but then, most of Paris looks old. I had originally picked the hotel for 3 reasons, 1)price, 2)location, and 3) internet access. 1) Price: Considering the price, it is one of the cheapest "rated" hotels in the city center. My husband and I stayed for a second time at the Hotel de Castiglione for 6 nights the last week in July via Club ABC Tours (first time was in Feb. 2003). Granted, the lobby decor is outdated, the elevator is tiny, and our room was small (compared to U.S. standards) and a bit worn at the edges. But the included buffet breakfast is varied and substantial, and the location absolutely cannot be beat. Hubby and I stayed in this hotel after flying over from Geneva. Our trip in Paris was to last 4 nights and we arrived at at about 5pm. Reception didnt look too bad, by 5.15 we wanted to leave. Apart from the box elavator, the corridors were dirty and tiny [very narrow- ok for us as we are skinny].
