Carltons Hotel

This hotel is a little gem. It isn't fancy & may not impress those looking for a 'chic boutique' experience, however, when I stayed here in February I had a brilliant room (708) with a lovely double bed & a balcony with a view of the Sacre Coeur, which was an unexpected surprise. My wife and I stayed at the Carlton’s Hotel for 4 nights from 12th November 2004. We were initially put on the first floor just above the nightclub. It can be noisy at this location and we eventually ended up on the sixth floor after moving rooms on the first night at 3 am to the fourth floor ( you could still hear noise from the night club and the cars coming and going until 5 am.) Recommend. Very nice. Clean. Convenient to Metro. Safe neighborhood. Helpful staff. 2 elevators. We stayed 2 nights in mid-October 2006. Would definitely stay again. Paid $120 per night (included breakfast) for 3 people (they gave us 2 adjoining rooms). Free WiFi internet access in the lobby. Typical European hotel. Relatively small room (compared to US) but spacious enough. No A/C. It's on a busy street so open windows brought in street noise - otherwise, no other noise. We booked two rooms in this hotel. My 13 year old daughter and friend stayed in one room with 2 single beds and my husband and I in another with a double bed. The two nights we stayed in Paris there was a heat wave. My daughter's room was very very hot...the a/c was just not working. But our room was very cool. We picked this hotel because they DID have air conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful. The two of stayed, hoping for a romantic week. A fair distance from any decent shopping but not a problem as we walked everywhere. Room small but OK, no A/C and very hot, a bit noisy at night with the windows open. The restaurant was not open, although it was advertised as being available, breakfast was buffet continental in the 'art deco restaurant" which was tacky and not very clean. Staff were wonderfully helpful. Would not stay again, the memories of breakfast were just not good.

Having just returned from this hotel, i feel it is very worthy of a review. Reception staff are very helpful and speak good english...The young woman that works on reception is VERY helpful,she helped us to book our Moulin tickets, to explain where certain tourist attraction were, and, she helped us choose the correct day rover for the metro. Also, the man that works at the bar is always willing to share a joke and a smile. My lovely wife and two beautiful daughters, ages 21 and 24, and I spent 4 spectacular days in Paris at the Hotel Carlton's. The hotel is very underrated at 3 stars, easily a 4 star in most other countries. It is newly renovated in a classical neo-Roman style, replete with busts and statues of historical figures, e.g., Moliere, and very pleasant scenes of Paris and the countryside in our room. I just got back from Paris! I stayed for 4 days at the Carlton's Hotel. It was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was quite nice for a 3 star hotel. The stuff was very friendly and the metro was really close by. The hotel is located in Monmarte, the most beautiful place in paris! NOTE: Do not take a room near the elevator, there is a lot of noise!

Fabulous old charm with modernization where it counts, like soundproof windows. Great location, fabulous views. Courteous staff. I would have given it 5 dots if the breakfast had been a bit better.

A great character hotel with expansive dining hall, excellent roof top view of the inner city (especially at night). larger rooms and sharp service although the breakfast choice was a little limited. The hotel is 10min walk from the North Station, for easy connnections to the Airport and train to the UK. The apartments with separate rooms are good value for families or groups. A pleasant walk (up to 1 hour) will take you to the major central tourist sites. Don't judge by the 3 star rating as this is well up there in my books for a... more
