Very comfy stay at Hotel St. Louis Bastille
We stayed at the Hotel St. Louis Bastille for four nights in September 2005. Lovely hotel recently refurbed - nice neutral colour schemes and very clean. We had a twin room on floor 5 - we were offered a choice of 4th or 5th floor. There is an elevator - albeit a very small one. While we decided not to take breakfast (euro 7 each), I did take a peep at the breakfast room in the basement - looked fine if a bit dark. The hotel is close (just across the street) from Oberkampf Metro station (The orange line on the metro map)... more
Gem of a hotel in Paris -- excellent price too!
If you are going to Paris and seeking a perfect little gem of a hotel, check out the Hotel Saint-Louis Bastille. Located just behind the Bastille - we literally stumbled across this hotel when seeking a reasonable but attractive hotel for our family and friends. The rooms are small but charming -- clearly newly designed by someone with taste! The true charm of this hotel exists in the breakfast room -- a cave downstairs with deep mahogany cabinets and creamy tile. we almost missed out on sight seeing, because we spent so much time... more
clean, friendly, good value
We were so pleased to find the SLB when the rest of Paris was sold out, or prohibitively expensive. This is a great value for about $130 per night. Nice clean rooms and modern bathrooms. Friendly English speaking staff. A little off the beaten tourist track, but located in a real Parisian neighborhood, with a fantastic fruit/veg market right across the street. Convenient to the Metro. Can't beat it at this price; we will be back!
Agree that this hotel is a gem!
For what you get insofar as accommodation in Paris, this hotel is well worth staying at and recommend it to anyone considering staying there. Rather than double up on how good this hotel is, read the review "A quaint little gem of a hotel". When I was in Paris in April 2005 I stayed at a hotel in Pasteur and it was nothing compared to Hotel Louis Bastille. I will add to the previous review that the rooms are all soundproofed - I know this because the person I travelled with snored so loud that I slept in the bath - twice! The hotel staff... more
A quaint little gem of a hotel
What a treat and a pleasant surprise. I stayed at the Hotel Saint-Louis Bastille with my sister on my last visit to Paris. The staff was warm, friendly and above and beyond helpful - providing us with maps and walking directions whenever we needed. They also helped to arrange several trips that we wanted to take to Versailles and to Champagne (both of which were great!). The room we stayed in besides being immaculately clean, was just lovely...love those exposed beams...and the color chosen for the room is just amazingly soothing -... more
i loved this little hotel!
i loved our room. it was so pretty (and so clean!). the staff was so helpful and so nice. excellent value. i would strongly recommend it!
Very nice little hotel
We stayed at the Saint Louis Bastille for 2 nights, June 20 & 21, 2005. It was a great little hotel with very friendly staff. The beds were quite comfy, which is something very important for me; we had twin beds in room 104. It was quaint and clean, but I did get some sort of foot problem, like athlete's foot, I believed to be from walking on the floors barefoot, so I recommend keeping some sort of slipper or shoe on at all times (in all hotels worldwide). I would most certainly stay in this hotel again. It is a good location within walking... more
A word of warning!
This is a very nice hotel but be warned if travelling in the height of summer. The rooms get very hot and because the street is fairly noisy, leaving the windows open makes it hard to sleep. Also avoid rooms on the ground floor (10 and 11), they suck! Other than this I can recommend this place, although not a bargain it is certainly not a rip off either.
Great value
Most pleasant recent stay. Very pleasant & helpful staff. Small, clean, comfortable & recently renovated. Well located for metro. Unbelievable value.
great small hotel choice in Paris
A great choice for a weekend stay (or longer!) in Paris. This newly renovated hotel has nice, clean rooms and a welcoming staff. Good location and close to Metro. A great value too!
