Best food was round the corner all the time.
from Badpacker
We've just come back from a 4 day stay at this hotel. Rooms small but adequate and just been decorated as they smelt of fresh paint. It is a way out of the city but metro entrance at end of street and easy peasy to use. Local area was friendly and genuine French not tourist French - it is a mixed neighbourhood which in my book is a positive, not a sniff of any trouble or danger as some reviews had led me to believe. We found the best restaurent on the corner by the entrances to the Maraichers Metro stop. This is the stop previous to the one...

Pleasant hotel....
from Andrea8248
We were here for a week. The hotel was a typical Parisian hotel. Rooms were small, just got 3 beds, a desk, tv on the wall (french only) and a very small wardrobe, like a childs size!! Quite funny really. We thought this was humorous because it was not going to get a family of 3's clothes hung up!! It is a basic hotel but its friendly, warm and clean. The maid came in every day, the sheets and towels were clean and replaced daily. The small things matter when you are on a budget. no air con, its a fan! There is a safety deposit box in...

Great budget hotel
from echox2
I booked several nights at Hotel Armstrong solely on the fact that it was cheap. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised. I was there with my boyfriend, and our room was small (I expected that) but clean. The bathroom was also spotless, and there was always lots of hot water. (There was a hair dryer, but it was kind of useless, not a lot of power.) I was glad there was an elevator as our room was on the 5th floor. There is no A/C, but we were there in August and were completely comfortable. The staff was very friendly and...

Rocking in Paris
from Rainbowbridgers
Ihave just returned from a trip to Paris to see Aerosmith and we thought the hotel was great .The rooms were small but clean with a small bath but the Metro was two minutes away with access to all of Paris. The hotel staff were helpful and the locals were very friendly. It is close to the airport CDG and the Periphique so traffic is busy 24 hrs but we thouroughly enjoyed our stay .Breakfast was nice and the bar was open when we needed a drink. If you want luxury there is a price tag .Agreat holiday Ian and Nikki
A not so nice experience
from madame121
I booked Hotel Armstrong for a weekend away with my boyfriend, i was impressed with the photos they had on their website but a little worried that it was a 2 star hotel. We got to paris really late and took a taxi to the hotel, i was really disappointed when i saw the room , it was really small, the carpet was dirty and bathroom was like a closet. The only thing i liked about it was the fact that it wasn't too far from the netro station, other than that, this hotel is awful and i wouldn't advise anyone to stay there.
Damp and unpleasant
from bluemonster
The hotel was one of the more pricey of my week travelling France and by far the most disappointing - after asking for a twin non-smoking we got a double smoking. The room smelled of stale smoke and damp was rife in the bathroom. On the plus side 5 euros for 24 hour internet access was great and the breakfast looked good although we didnt have it. The one member of staff on each day varied but were often busy resulting in long waits. Wouldnt have paid what i did for this hotel again.
Perfectly Pleasant
from Une_Anglaise
The Hotel Armstrong was a perfectly pleasant hotel. I read the reviews about it beforehand and was a little concerned to read a review mentioning bedbugs as I had already changed from a hotel with a bad reputation for these little critters!! I was encouraged by the response given by the manager and continued with my stay as planned. This hotel is not the Ritz (that's closer to the Louvre!!) but is perfect for a budget stay in Paris. The rooms are small, but they are clean and all the appliances work well. The area is not like french...

not a loving valentines stay
from twixalot
well what can i say except take pepper spray because its a rough area and very hard to find. we nearly got jumped by a couple of young lads. so keep your bags and suitcases close to you. The travel agents said it was a 3 star but it was only 2. They said it was close to the main tourist attractions but it couldnt have been further away and took roughly an hour on the metro (If You dont understand the use of the metro system it can be quite difficult to get to places) The hotel was small and grubby and not the romantic getaway we...

Our 3 days in French Harlem
from MeanaMuggins
Last November as we searched the internet for a three star hotel in the Montemarte /Pigalle area, we came across this little beauty (?) on one particular website. This website told us at first glance that L'hotel Armstrong was in Montmarte. Wrong. It's in Arr. 20. Bumtown. The equivelent of a rough spot in Harlem as one of us was spat on during our first evening trip to the metro. Nice. So: 1. We found it really hard to find. 2. The first receptionist was very unhelpful and quite rude. 3. The room was small, dark, cramped...

Not what we expected.
from Briwi
My family (2 adults and two teenagers) stayed at the Armstrong over Christmas 2006 in two rooms. We had asked our travel agent to book us a 3 star hotel but and when we found out the Armstrong was only 2 stars we were a bit concerned. We checked their website and were reassured by the photos etc. We were decieved. The photos are nothing like the hotel at all and are very deceptive. The lobby of the hotel was nice but once you got into the elevator and went up to the rooms that was it! The rooms were awful! Very small and quite dingy....
