Charmed by the Agora!
from HastingII
We just spent a fabulous six-night honeymoon in Paris at the Agora St. Germain Hotel in Paris! Only three blocks from the Maubert-Municipalite Metro and Notre Dame, this charming hotel made the stay perfect. The staff, particularly Eric, was friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were great, and our room was kept clean every day. We had a large (for Paris), modern bathroom and even thin-screen, wall-mounted TV that allowed for more space. There are many Bistros and Brasseries "just around the corner" that serve excellent meals, and one can...

Great little spot to stay
from A TripAdvisor Member
I was worried about going to a 3 star hotel in Paris, expecting tiny rooms that you wouldn't be able to 'swing a cat in' and possibly a bit grotty. However, I think we had a deluxe room, as it was a decent size, clean and seemed to have a newly renovated en-suite (bath with a shower). The breakfast would be expensive (12 Euro) though if it hadn't been included, so if it's not included just go around the corner to what looked like an amazingly popular patisserie. While we were there someone had complained about a room (I don't know...

A+ Hotel Stay
from A TripAdvisor Member
We rate this hotel a 4+: a useful Metro line, two convenience stores, a farmer's market, and two bakeries are within 1-2 blocks. The hotel was pristinely clean and the service friendly and helpful. The church bells across the street are charming, but reconsider staying here if you are a late riser--they ring for Mass at 7: 40 and then every hour after that. The street noise was also a bit loud on some days, but just a smidge noisier than other neighboorhood hotels we've stayed at in Paris. We did not get the 12e breakfast in our package,...

Shabby

My husband and I just returned from Paris with our daughter and her husband. We booked this hotel (two rooms, 4 nights) based upon the positive reviews on this website. When we arrived we were so disapointed by the appearance of this hotel. It was shabby and bordered dirty. There was a bad smell in the rooms and we simply could not stay there. We lost over $300 since we had booked in advance, but it was worth it to go to a nicer hotel. Perhaps this hotel has other nicer rooms since apparently there were many people happy with their stay...

What a location! - What service!
from A TripAdvisor Member
The Agora St. Germaine was a great value. Located justa block off of the Bvd. St. Germaine, and within blocks of the Pantheon and Notre Dame. Just about any service you could need is right around the corner, including a laundromat just 1 block away. The staff was friendly, breakfast downstairs was nicely done, and the room was thoroughly cleaned every day. We had a great neighborhood view, including an interesting old cathedral across the street. Nice bathroom, as well. I wuold definitely stay here again.
Would stay here again

Just got back from a week in Paris and was very pleased with this hotel. The room was small with 2 single beds pushed up together but separate bedding. It was clean, towels and bedding changed everyday, and I guess it had been renovated recently. The bathroom had been completely redone and all the fittings seemed brand new. The shower worked very well indeed (just the job after a hard day's sightseeing). There was even an LCD tv on the wall and there was also air con, though it didn't work brilliantly (poss because it was very hot when we...

updated bathrooms give it superior rate
from A TripAdvisor Member
Third time to Paris, first time on the Left Bank. Stayed at the Agora for 7 nights in a 'superior double/twin room'. What makes it a 'superior' room is the newly renovated, modern bathroom. Great shower! The decor is no different than the standard rooms, nor is the size and you don't get 2 chairs. The linens are standard but the carpeting could certainly use a steam clean. Very small twin beds so if you are a tall person, be prepared for your feet to hang out (I'm 5'3"). Oh, and the beds are put right together but with separate bedding....

The location, cleanliness, morning croissants, pastries, and coffee were superb! The staff especially Martine,Eric, and Aileen were incredibly friendly and helpful. If you don't mind a small room but appreciate a comfortable bed in a charming hotel on a quiet street in a quintessential parisian neighborhood for a modest price-the Agora St.Germain Hotel is for you!
Loved the Agora Saint Germain
from joekg
What a great hotel. It is small, not your American big city Hilton, but at its reasonable cost it is perfect for the modest Paris traveler. The location is perfect- we walked from it to Notre Dame in 10 minutes and either walked or took the Metro (station 5 minutes away) anywhere in Paris in 20 minutes or less. And that bakery around the corner......cafe, croissant, and hand squeezed orange juice each morning. Saint Germain is a fun street with lots of cafes, bakeries, cheese stores, and more within a few blocks. The rooms were very...

Better avoid

My friend and I stayed at the Agora St.Germain in June and were quite disappointed. The woman who welcomed us was simply rude and unfriendly, although the rest of the staff was friendlier. Our room was small, with barely enough space to walk around the bed. Furniture was tasteless and not adequate (no single drawer, the closet was very small, only one chair). The bedspread looked like it hadn't been washed for a long while. The hotel has also larger and probably more comfortable rooms, more expensive than our standard double room (still, I...

Stayed for 2 nights after booking through bookednet.com was quoted 278.00 euro for standard double room. We declined breakfast as a cafe just a block away offered cheaper and better variety. To our extreme frustration and disappointment we were charged 353.00 euro on... more
