Just returned from holiday June 2006. Transfer only 1 hour from Faro which was ideal with 2 small children.
The public areas of the hotel (absolutely lovely) have just been refurbished and although the rooms were spacious and adequate hopefully they will be next on the list. The room decor and layout was fine, we were lucky enough to have been upgraded to a junior suite which had a separate bedroom and double balcony with sun beds and table/chairs. Liked the spaciousness so much that if we go back we would definitely book a suite rather than a room.
The buffet style breakfast was ok but got a bit repetitive by the end of the week. We only ate in the restaurant one night and wouldn't hurry back. Great restaurants close by, a nice Chinese on the road down to the Old town and a hidden gem, Picapau (behind McDonalds) - fantastic fresh tuna steaks ! Hotel Brisa Sol next door for fresh cream cakes (yum !) and the Modelo (supermarket) next door to that for anything you could possibly want (including taxis just outside).
Excellent pool area, very clean, sun beds new, etc. Good outdoor facilities for small kids too - small shallow pool and grassy area with swing, slide, etc.
Hotel situated half way between the Old town and the Strip (suited us perfectly as a family). Bus made up as a train stopped right outside our hotel which did round trips between the two every 20 mins.
All in all - we had a fab time and are going back next year!
